Unboxing a gorgeous vintage lighter made by Dunhill in England in the 2000s. The "Unique" is among the most iconic lighter with the famous lift-arm mechanism that remains almost the same since the 1920s.
Colibri made one of these in brass I believe, I had one I don't know what the material was. It was almost identical to this one except it had a little lever or thumb cock to raise the lid, and this was probably 1994 or 5.
I love dunhill’s my uncle had a nice collection of them when I was a kid, one day I hope to be able to get one for myself every time I see one I takes me back to lighting his pipe for him as a kid lol imagine that these days 😂
For anyone wondering why you would want a butane gas lighter VS a lighter fluid lighter. It's for pipes and cigars. Butane imparts no flavor of the gas when lighting with the flame whereas lighter fluid tends to have a taste to it, I believe it's because not all of it burns off the way butane does but I'm not sure about that part. Just a fun fact for anyone who was curious. There are of course other reasons to choose a butane lighter, like this one, over a lighter fluid lighter, like a zippo, but this is my reason.
“Alfred Dunhill” is still around and still have lighters on their website, but OMG they are expensive, I mean the lighter itself is $250, but they also have pocket squares for your suit jacket for $215, polo shirts $220…. Idk but damn
It's honestly amazing that such a huge part of american culture is now dead thing. It's really neat to see so much random things that were made to try and please everyone who smoked as it was so common.
If I were to start a lighter collection, where would be a good place to start looking? Doesn't necessarily have to be old lighters. it's just has to be cool or fun
what does the color of the flint matter? and can you do some lighters with colored flames and colored sparks? you could add in strontium, copper, boron, indium, lithium to color the flames
I'm not sure lithium would be a good idea given it's deep seething hatred of water, instead of kids throwing cherry bombs/firecrackers down toilets they'd start throwing lithium lighter flints hahaha
I love your videos! Quick question, i have one with the kick start model and its keep over flowing from the fuse part,. How do i not over flow it? Should i stuff the fluid chamber with cotton? Thank you!
Does this lighter light a cigarette better than the plastic one? Or does a cigarette taste better when light with this luxurious lighter? And the gloves? Do gloves filter the air around you or something? Just asking? 🥴🥱🤣🤣🤣
