I was in a Texas Court room one time, And the Judge was known as a "Hanging" judge ( Judge William Poe..?? ) because of his harsh sentences on criminals. There was a guy in Trial for Armed robbery. The Judge had just Sentenced him to 10 years in Prison. As the Prisoner was being led away, He muttered under his Breath... "I can do that time Standing on my Head" The Judge ordered him back to the bench, And told him, "Since you are going to be standing on your head for ten years, I am going to give you an Additional 10 years to get you back on your feet Again!" Dude should have kept his mouth shit. But, you just cant fix stupid.

They didn't show the follow-up, but the drunk driver's mother spent one night in jail, was brought back in front of the judge the next day, gave a very tearful apology, & was set free. Hopefully that was a lesson sincerely learned.

This is what happens when a person receives no accountability all their life and then suddenly receives accountability.

During trial, the Judge needs to remain as unbiased as possible. Post conviction, their honest opinions are absolute fair game.

After that 120 days for contempt of court, I bet everyone else that was waiting for their turn and seen that unfold were polite as hell to the judge 🤣🤣 And judges are expected to remain stoic in the U.S. as well.

I sat on a jury where a drunk driver in a stolen beer truck hit and killed a 22 year old woman and her 3 week old baby girl. The defendant just wouldn't shut his mouth and decided to use vulgar language to describe the 2 victims that he had never met. He then called the judge some very inappropriate things and the judge got fed up with the attitude. He stopped proceedings and asked the court clerk to had him the statutes book containing the sentence range for each charge. The judge spent 15 minutes looking things up and then called court back in session. The judge then threw out the sentencing agreement between the state and the defendant's lawyer and sentenced the criminal to the maximum sentence for each crime. He then stacked the 4 most serious charges back to back and sentenced the criminal to the maximum allowed by law to be served consecutively meaning that they ran one after another. The total sentence for the 47 charges he was convicted of was 357 years of which he has to serve a minimum of 82 years. He will be 104 years old at the earliest possible release date in 2068. If he had kept his mouth shut he would have been sentenced differently and been eligible for parole in 2035. His mouth got him an extra 33 years minimum time to serve before being eligible for release.

With the spitting thing. They can put a spit guard on people. And in some places they are literally put into a cell/box in the courtroom.

That first man in Dade County would not get bail because of his crime . A domestic violence is automatic 21 days holding . A cool off period . He was also lucky to have that judge . He would have gotten more then 120 days in contempt of court and served it .

He can't transmit HIV by saliva alone. But if he has any sores in his mouth, and the person he spits on has any open wounds, he can. But that doesn't really matter, because he was clearly either trying to transmit it, or trying to instill the fear of transmitting HIV on the guards. And even if neither of those are the case, spitting on someone is still assault and battery.

In the first one, he has new charges, for which he got a total of $20,000 bond. He would have to post $2,000 in most cases if he went through a bail bondsman. However, it sounds like he caught these new charges while he was already out on bail on a previous charge. Since there are conditions to bond - the biggest one being that you can't commit any more crimes while you're awaiting trial - his bond was revoked for the previous charge. He has to sit in jail until the trial for that charge, because he broke the terms of the bail.

The only time judges are really allowed to show any emotion is when they pronounce sentence. During a trial they have to keep their thoughts and emotions to themselves in case they might sway a jury.

I've been to two courts for misdemeanor tickets, & it's amazing how dumb people can get in front of the judge for simple fix-it tickets! My mother called it having 'diarrhea of the mouth'.

I think the pandemic did do something good for public buildings like a courtroom because now they have the plexiglass barriers which would keep someone from spitting on them and act as a barrier from them physically harming the judge.

Spitting on or at a person has always been a crime, and doing so while HIV positive just increases the seriousness of the charges.

A PPO is a personal protection order, which is what people commonly call a restraining order. The woman never filed for a PPO, which means the defendant (probably an ex lover) was never served papers on a PPO...which means he/she didn't violate a PPO.

Part of the reason Judge McBain was so upset was that the defendant had stabbed her victim 27 times while he was asleep. The final straw for the judge was her laughing during the victim impact statements and the fact that the defendant's brother had shown up at the home of the victim to threaten the victims family over their opposition to a plea deal that was rejected by the judge as too lenient.

Some people fail to understand that while in court you are at the mercy of the court so you’d better fucking give them a reason to feel mercy.

The judge set bond for the current charges but the revoked the bail for a previous charge that he was out on bail for when he committed the latest offense. Therefore the $20,000 bond doesn't mean anything because the earlier bond was revoked meaning it he stayed in jail .

Judges aren’t supposed to go off on the defendants. They can give their opinion but just like anyone else, they have to keep it respectful even if the person doesn’t deserve it.

Tracy Hunter was a judge in my area and the whole thing was all over the news here every day during her trial and original arrest. And then when she was sentenced that whole thing was on the news every news hour.

The lady who attacked the judge was taken 3 times and it took 6 bailiffs to cuff her. She got sentenced to 5 years in prison for the attack on the judge. She also lost all rights to her children.

I had to go to court. It was my fault. So what I did was apologize.

The clip where the woman was convicted of trying to kill her husband faked the medical issue and she was later given an additional 7 years on top of the sentance for attempting murder.

Kabir, you would never disrespect the judge because you have normal parents. These disrespectful people that we see are from dysfunctional homes or they were made this center of attention and never were held accountable for their actions. A lot of parents like to be their child’s friend so that child grows up with no respect for authority because their parent is not their parent but their friend and the way they disrespect authority is the same way they disrespect their parents. Most bad behavior is the result of having bad parents.

If the guy was stabbed 67 timesaving his innards became outwards then when it is this bad the judge sometimes tend to lose their cool especially when the defendant shows 0 remorse...I am not sure exactly how many times she stabbed him, but it was enough that his innards were literally hanging outside his body but I had heard of this case and it was 60+ stabbings as far as the coroner could figure out like 65 or 67 stabbings...0 remorse...and for her, you could see it on her face it was more like a traffic ticket.

I understand not having any sympathy for the murder for hire, but that woman is either having a panic attack or her body is in so much shock her body has shut down. Having experienced panic attacks, it’s a painful experience and while I think that woman deserves her sentence, she needs help. And I would see to it that she recovered. If only just so she can hear the victims statements.

I think it's ok for the judge to let loose and say what they think once the verdict has been given. Before that, they should be impartial but once the person has been found guilty I think it's perfectly fine for the judge to say what they think.

I think the lady that fainted after she was told she was found guilty did so because she probably really believe that she would not be found not guilty. She probably thought she was too smart to be convicted. My guess is she had never been to jail or prison before so it is a shock to her that she’s going to spend many years in prison with murderers, drug dealers, drug addicts and gang members.

We really need to retire the word "Karen," which has morphed into something unrecognizable. It started out describing racists who reflexively called the police whenever they saw a black person. Then it stretched to include the type of overbearing big mouth who yells at some poor store clerk because the store has been out of her favorite yogurt for three weeks.
