Smith's Crisps. "This is Big Bertha, she'll BBQ a cow on the hoof if you want her to." Cracks me up. Just animated B&W line drawings. Context - a very Aussie BBQ salesman indirectly spruiking BBQ flavoured crisps. There's so many omissions but those here are great too.

Love these ads! I totally Agree 'Not happy Jan' was iconic should be included...and for me ...Spec Savers ads too. Had a great laugh .. It brightened my day...thanks. Def Brits and Aussie's have very similar sense of humour.,we are colonised Brits after all. The Toyota Hillux ad... almost happened to me in a brand new Subaru. Early morning shift half asleep, jumped out to collect a key. I turned to see my brand new car rolling backwards towards a huge tree...omfg! I ran faster than I imagined I could, opened the passenger side door and pulled the handbrake on inches before it hit the tree. I felt like I was in a movie and was amazed at how I opened the door and threw myself in while running after the quickening run away car !!! Phew not a scratch, and woke me up in a hurry........

You’ve got to see the original VB ads, the original Mortein Louis the Fly and the “bugger” Toyota ads and all the Australia Day lamb ads with Sam Kekovich (I may have buggered the spelling). Oh, and the “sic ‘em Rex” ads, which I won’t even explain. There are some good ones here but they’re not the best, except the Carlton Draught and Hilux ones.

It’s worth mentioning that Paul Hogan did a commercial to promote tourism in Australia to Americans, so since Americans call prawns “shrimp”, Hoges says, “Put another shrimp on the barbie”, but we would never say shrimp, we always say prawns. To us, shrimp are the tiny Asian crustaceans that wind up in cheap fried rice.
