@@josephharrison5639 They accidentally set the steering lock, and that was just the first time the wheel was turned far enough for it to click into place.
8:49 That's pretty much how dark all the roads are where I live. There are only two streetlights in my entire town. Think it's got to do with population density and level of traffic because it's mostly farmland around here. More deer than people. Didn't help that he didn't slow down at all when the curve signs popped up, either
4:05 Deer can be a problem on the roads in the U.S.A. They can jump out in front of you pretty quickly, and you have no way to stop in time. They are big, and heavy, and can do serious damage.
OH MY GOD I need the smelling salts to help me recover from this round of dash cams. What have we learned today? 1. Final Destination is real 2. Never drive behind, on the side of, or in front of any 18 wheelers 3. Thor + Lightning + Trees = bad news for you and your car 4. Oranges choose violence 5. "Thelma & Louise-ing it" is actually possible from a bank teller drive thru
Diving with a trailer seems to be something everyone thinks they can do, but there are things you need to specifically know about trailers and how they respond to your diving. Obviously, curves and the speed with which you drive them is a big one, but so is backing up, and belong able to gauge the load in the trailer. PS: I just hate it when people try and drive on the shoulder, or motorcycles that drive down right in between the lanes of stopped cars, or people cut you off when they change lanes and you know they never saw you. But the worst are pickups with open flatbeds which try to store lightweight stuff or overpack it so that everything will go flying out at high speeds & right into the traffic behind them. Lots of accidents occur from those actions.
Kabir: the scene at 3:20 shows a drainage cover exploding out of the road. You can see whatever caused it to happen also caused an explosion off to the right side of the road, likely due to a flash flood situation with the heavy dark storm clouds in the distance. It spewed heavy dirt and rock water onto the car.
I'm so glad you pointed that out, thank you! I must have watched it 10 times on .25 speed and hadn't even noticed the pipes blowing out. It was driving me nuts.
8:56 in certain stretches of highway in the US there are no street lights. Even on some residential streets, there may be very few if any street lights and it’s limited to rural areas. I live in Los Angeles County and while the major streets are well lit, some of the residential and side streets are not.
11:17 I remember this one, they were being flat towed with the car off and accidentally set the steering lock, turned the wheel just far enough and *click* no steering.
3:26 could be thermal expansion. The road got hot enough that the material expanded. If you don't cut lines across the pavement at intervals when it gets really hot the pavement explodes because it can't expand anymore. I've seen it happen to concrete highways a few times.
That or water pressure if there was flooding going on from a nearby storm. I have seen cases of manhole covers being sent into the air by sudden rushes of stormwater.
Logging trucks are a law onto them selves. Always give them a wide area especially if you encounter them on a forest road. I live in Oregon, we know these things
Holy acrarp, yeah. When I was learning how to drive, a logging road paralleled the road we took to get to town. But on one of my first drives, a logging truck was on the regular road for some reason. He barreled up right behind me, and stayed there. I was never so scared in my life! Thank God there was a crossroad close by so I could pull over. This was on the Vernonia Hwy between Scappoose and Vernonia, about 28 miles West of Portland, and there weren't *any* shoulders on that road. Just a faded white line at the edge of the pavement. I'll bet it's still like that.
There was black smoke coming out of that F250 because it has a diesel engine. And yeah deer are such a problem here in the U.S. like here in Ohio they are everywhere during summer and fall and they can total a vehicle. A lot of out roads out in the country are not lit at all.
the clip with the drains and manholes exploded. that would be most likely transformers blowing up because yoh can see in the video there’s power poles or power wires
That was the tarmac exploding. Can happen on really hot days. Addendum: Upon a second review, it almost looks like there’s a big square panel(plate?) that is blown off, dirt flying with it, the way manhole covers can sometimes do, but I have no idea whatsoever why there would be such a plate that size built into the road!? So, I guess you’re going to have to decide by your guys. Or let’s hear from some road construction professionals…?
In my neck of the woods, it's easy to get a license without much thought. The driving test is just go up a road around a block, across a state highway, and back to the DMV to perpendicular park -- no parallel parking, no snow practice; only prerequisite is 80 hours of driving, 20 of which are at night.
I suspect that the truck that put on the indicator to merge left was in a country where the driver is on the right side. It is VERY difficult for truck drivers to see cars on their opposite side especially if they are small. That's why in the states the trucks often have stickers that warn about passing on the right (truck drivers are on the left in the U.S.). I think the same apply for countries with drivers on the opposite side
We live way out in the country, about 25 minute drive to town. Down a road people not from here think is a one way road. It’s pitch black on a good night because we are surrounded by trees. And very curvy, very sharp turns. No lights anywhere and deer leaping from the darkness. Even the highways don’t have street lights. You get used to it and it doesn’t faze you at all. My girls and I got bored and drove to town for fountain drinks at 3:30 am just to get out for a moment.
Logging trucks regularly go 20 over the speed limit where I’m from, I steer clear. The last video got used in a Jurassic world short film (battle at big rock) DIY towing, whenever I see it I hate those people(the video you asked why can’t they steer) I try to stay away from those morons
I think there actually ARE drivers licenses included in Happy Meals in the US. In former Soviet Union, you get license to drive car in every box of Komrade Korn Flakes.
I make deliveries to peoples homes and I can say this is just a day on the road. Just today I avoided at least two accidents from people either not paying attention or just not giving a F&%K.
In the country there are no lights at all. Just long dark roads with deer everywhere. We had not even made the first payment on our truck when my husband pulling a boat hit 3 deer. That makes you sick!! Thats why you have insurance but its your new truck. Dump trucks and log trucks are the two things you just give them all the respect and be careful around.
My wife and I had a nasty accident yesterday because someone wanted to run a red light. She just had surgery today and I'm absolutely CRINGING watching this lol.
4:13 that cop needs to take the driver's license test again too. It's a yield with a merge lane which he could continue into the lane then merge into traffic. So many times I see people completely stopped at yield signs, it's infuriating
That happens on that tunnel all the time. There's speed limitations and signs everywhere. All over that entire pass. Looks like studmuffin was out playing in a new Subaru.
Watching you watch the video was more entertaining than the video itself! 😂 You certainly had plenty of driving "advice" for many of those behind the wheel (with the license they got out of the happy meal) and every time there was a collision your arms flew up which, I am guessing, was reflex. Don't feel bad about laughing when those people slipped on the ice, it didn't seem as though they were hurt and most of us laugh at that I think. They make some great videos of people slipping on the ice so maybe you should check a few of those out.
Can you imagine lighting up every country road in the United States with lights? Do You Realize how big the United States is, it's impossible!!!! You have to adjust your driving for Your headlights. It's called driving too fast for conditions!!!! If You are overdriving your head like you can't see the turn coming up. you're driving way too, fast has nothing to do with street lighting.
Kabir: "Why was that guy just parked in the middle of the road?" Middle? ...there was no middle. There was only ROAD. The guy was stopped in the middle *and* both sides. Just how narrow ARE the roads where you live? I'd do better driving with a blindfold on than trying to figure out how to fit two vehicles side by side on that... um.. garden path?
8:55 No lights because you're in the country (same that happens in the UK). Lights weren't the problem, the cammer was going too fast on the tight curves.
I was driving a concrete truck, with the revolving concrete container. I drove to a constructions site. Some exits, highway, big turn. When I arrived at the site, I had to reverse. At that moment my steering bar broke off. I turned, but I kept going straight. This could have happened before, when I was fully loaded, going 85km/h. My boss said I broke the bar hahaha
@Kabir Considers, just so you know: In America, we don't take points off your license like you do in Britain; we put them ON your license. If you accumulate 14 points or more, your license gets suspended. For example, where I live, you get 3 points for an accident where you are at fault, or speeding less than 10 mph over the limit. You get 8 points for speeding 31 mph or more above the limit, for leaving the scene of an accident, for reckless driving, for failing to stop for a school bus, for racing, or for fleeing a police officer. You get a whopping 14 points for drunk driving (DUI). Points are removed after 3 years. (Yes, this means that a single DUI will get your license suspended for 3 years.) This system varies from state to state.
Oh, and at 3:35 what I _think_ happened is a ruptured drainage or sewage line under the street due to overpressure (the water looks dirty, so it probably wasn't a water main). They just happened to be in the right place at the wrong time. At 4:00, if that had been peas instead of oranges, I would've made a joke about "stopping for a pea". 🤣 At 4:50, I guess the wheel got _tyred_ of doing its job. 🤣 There were a couple of those in this video. There were also a few clips that weren't bad driving, but acts of God (e.g. that lightning bolt).
@@SpearM3064 Constricted/blocked storm drain with a bad inlet location. Flood waters rush through and once the inlet top is covered by water the air inside is trapped and pressurizes under the force. If it's badly enough put together you can get a geyser of water, or even blow the road surface up and away.
Stay far, far away from logging trucks. The drivers are insane, but also, despite how careful they are in strapping the logs down, they come loose surprisingly easily. I don't know how many lost loads I've seen on the news or driven by in my ife.
My opinions of what happened... 2:58 crossing double yellow violation + wrong way driving violation. 3:30 looks like a methane explosion from a sewer possibly. 9:19 the black smoke is unburnt fuel burning in the exhaust it is a diesel truck + you can see the guy putting his cell phone in the passenger seat texting and driving not a good idea.
If you are going to fast, you will not make a turn. Simple as that. Rain and snow make things worse, obviously. Giant 18 wheelers / semi's/ Lorrys have massive blind spots. They cannot see everything around them, and they cannot stop fast, especially if they are fully loaded. You have to give them space, and never get in the inside of their turn.
07:11 that situation was whith me too. I drive higway and accalatrion line coming and but 1 (one) second turn light on and same second turn along my car. .I get faster reactoin and turn left . Speeds I was 90km/h and he not ended turn . He turn second time bac of my car ..and let only 5 meters ( 17 feet) saftey distance . Quess what He drive 110km/h with only 5 meters behind my car. of course get more speed because right side was lorry ( semi truck ) and after truck I turn back on right lane . He accelarted over 110km/h and gone ( ca 150-160km/h) on 110 km/h.
I didn't see it mentioned in the comments but at 9:25 that is a diesel truck. It is a type of engine that uses a gasoline/oil mixture. They usually produce more power and are used in a lot of big trucks.
Not for nothing but while it’s possible that drivers can fall asleep and cause a crash, so too does it happen that they have medical emergencies, like a stroke or heart attack, that cause them to lose control. Just something to keep in mind.
