Most Europeans I see just hash every MLS goal down to “terrible defending”. So I love to see your appreciation for the offensive play! I’d highly recommend watching an entire FC Cincinnati game sometime because a lot of what Lucho does doesn’t show up in the highlights, but the dude is always thinking 10 steps ahead, he’s very entertaining to watch
I was there. I was one of the people in the front row in the devil masks in the shot at the end. The save from our keeper at the end that won us the game won MLS save of the year for 2023. Acosta is our savior. Our first hall of famer in our franchises short history. He will have a statue in front of TQL stadium one day.
I’m Not really a fan of either team, but this derby has the coolest name of just about any derby in the world. It’s nicknamed the hell is real derby. The name comes from a sign on the highway that connects these two cities, a sign that is almost exactly in the middle, that just simply says “hell is real”.
I was at the game! Second level behind the south goal. I was a heart stoping save at the end. May have a rematch in a few weeks if Columbus win tonight in the open cup match. 13:33
You know what makes AVFTS Reacts reaction videos for soccer superior to others? Not only is Josh reacting to it for the first time and going in knowing nothing, but the analysis is world class. It’s something off of a sports talk show. Phenominal and a wonderful bonus.
It’s hard to be too critical of the Columbus GK. He’s their second stringer. Their starter, Eloy Room, has been hurt off and on since he returned from international duty with Curaçao in March.
we are only a few 100 miles from each other in the same state. there is a highway that connects the two cities and on the side is a huge billboard that says "hell is real". when these two teams play its called the hell is real game. we do not like them and they do not like us but there is a sliver of respect for each other. fcc we love ya
Matt Miazga who plays for FC Cincinnati on their back line played for Chelsea in the past. FCC is really a rarity in MLS as the strength of their team is their defense and the offense is a bonus though they’ve gotten some players from outa nowhere that have been huge playmakers for them. One of their stars, Brenner, has been transferred to Italian club Udenese for $10M in APril. He officially leaves at the start of July though the deal is already made official. Luciano Acosta and Brandon Vazquez might also be leaving this summer as they are both drawing heavy international interest, Brandon Vazquez particularly from Nottingham Forest who’ve already had several proposals for Brandon Vazquez rejected by FCC. On the Columbus Crew side their playmaker is Lucas Zalarayan who is probably the best player, or one of the best, on the Armenian national team. Aidan Morris, no relation to Jordan Morris, has come up through the Columbus Crew academy and is developing quite nicely.
Darlington Nagbe is in his 30’s and has retired from the United States Mens national team. He was born in Liberia and grew up in Cleveland OH, about 2 hours from Columbus. Aidan Morris is a Columbus academy player and is not related to Jordan Morris.
I grew up a Doncaster Rovers and Columbus Crew Fan. Played(on trial and only one friendly) for the precursor to FC Cincinnati. That being said, Hell Is Real. (That's the name of the Derby) I've been able to take my son to see FC Cincinnati six times and the stadium definitely has a European "feel" to the atmosphere. No apologies needed for not knowing the names of the players.(I still don't know everyone on the Rovers lol.) Appreciate the video. Subbed. Cheers from a tea throwing bastard across the pond 🇺🇸 ^-^
The next they played, after this match, the good guys won 3-0. Tide Pod FC plays Columbus, again, this Saturday. This time for the Eastern Conference Championship.
9:00 And that's why it's vital to work hard on the press... A) Mistakes are inevitable. B) Pressure can create panic and indecision, which in turn create more mistakes. C) The opposition's mistakes are not mistakes at all, unless you are there to capitalize on them. What some call "luck" is actually no more than the confluence of opportunity and sweat.
I appreciate you genuinely recognizing how Acosta is an absolute menace. The league knows this man, but he is still just so good in tight spaces, creating something out of nothing and absolutely just GHOSTING defenses of other teams in the League. This isn't bad defending, the man is just amazing at his game. Honestly, I wish MLS created some defender highlights, because everyone watches the highlights and sees when the defenders are duped or broken down. Not the world class blocks, tackles and offensive creativity I see from so many defenders across MLS every week during live games. I don't know why I'm harping on it. You weren't, which I also appreciate!
