Mean Machine was an adaptation from the original The Longest Yard in the 70’s starring Burt Reynolds who is also in this version just with UK Footy instead ❤

Before his acting career, Terry Crews played Defensive End and Linebacker in the NFL, notably for the Chargers and before Goldberg got into wrestling, he played Defensive Tackle for the Falcons. Stone Cold played Defensive End and Linebacker at the University of North Texas. Michael Irvin, who played Decon, played Wide Receiver for the Cowboys in the 90s

I grew up with the original version with Burt Reynolds and absolutely love it, this one is ok, it’s more broadly comedic and the original is a dramatic comedy

Yes, you really should have seen the original version from the 70s. This one I really nowhere near as good. Eddie Albert, who played the warden in the original, keeled over and died literally on the same day the remake was released. Really makes you think.

Yeah this one is much more comedy driven and silly. That's why it's such a shock when Caretaker dies lol. It doesn't really fit with the rest of the film but it's in the original sooo

I absolutely LOVE the original. The original is a MUST SEE for real. Should have been before the remake...IMO!! Something Kabir should consider...doing the original before the re-make...again IMO.

Appalachian State alumni here. I became a huge Buckeyes fan after this game because I was in Ohio with my App State t-shirt and got a ton of love from Ohio State fans! I still have the t-shirts about that game, including the one that advertises "Appalachian Wolverine Repellant". 😂😂😂

The older coach, Nate Scarborough, was played by Burt Reynolds, who played Paul Crewe in the original 1974 film. And the Great Khali is 3 inches and more than 150 shy of Andre the Giants top size.

There are two movies in America called The Longest Yard. The 1st one was made in 1974 and had Burt Reynolds in it. It was set in a prison and it was a forced game of American Football.

There's a bunch of wrestlers in this movie...The Great Kali, Goldberg, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kevin Nash. Some other big names are Burt Reynolds, Chris Rock, Tracey Morgan, and Nelly.

The older inmate was Burt Reynolds one of the biggest movie stars of the time. Everyone else including Adam Sandler were just a fill in cast.

Little trivia... the guard named "Papajohn" is actually named Michael Papajohn in real life. He played Adam Sandler's stunt double in "The Waterboy", was the robber in the first Tobey McGuire Spider-Man, and has had his rear-end kicked in "Charlie's Angels".

This movie is not based on the UK movie MEAN MACHINE. It's a remake of the 1974 movie of the same name. The older character called MEAN MACHINE is the late actor BURT REYNOLDS who played the QB in the original movie in 1974.

Mean machine and this one are both remakes The Longest Yard ( the orginal) from 1974. Burt Reynolds plays the main character in the orginal.

The original from 1974 starred Burt Reynolds. Mean Machine was a 2001 UK film that adapted the premise of the original. Sorry, the UK film was a remake of the US 1974 version. It was originally about Football, not Soccer.

The original as everyone says was the 1974 American film with the same title. But in the UK the 1974 film was released under the title "Mean Machine" and then remade with that title in 2001 there as well. Then Sandlers movie a few years later. Also believe there is another foreign adaptation that came out like 10 years or so ago. Also Caretaker's death was worse in the original. Set on fire via gasoline lightbulb. If I remember they focused on the light bulb in the Sandler version for a second before he went to the radio to throw off anyone who watched the 74 film first.

17:09 I actually sat beside this guard at the 2011 College Football BCS national championship between my Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU. The guy was hilarious and told me a few funny stories about the making of the movie and about some of the actors. It was a good time especially since Alabama won the game as well

This movie is so god damn good. First off it has so many fucking wrestlers in it, that almost every scene could have been on Monday night Raw. Second what a balance of comedy and drama, it hits the notes perfect. You need to watch Sandlers work, he has a lot of misses but the hits are solid platinum.
