After conceding defeat, President Jammeh has now changed his mind and is rejecting the presidential election result.
Following the presidential election 10 days ago, Yahya Jammeh shocked many by accepting defeat to his rival Adama Barrow.
Jammeh's conciliation was seen as the start of a new era of democracy in the smallest nation in mainland Africa.
Now it appears Jammeh won't be relinquishing power at all.
Will his demand for a new election mean chaos and instability? And how can a peaceful transfer of power be achieved?

I think West Africa is making head ways in terms of democracy. What is happening in Gambia is a shame to the the country and the continent as a whole. Please your excellency ,you have done your bit for the people of Gambia. There is no where in the world that the turn out of the polls can be 100%. You made all us proud after you conceding call......but not you want to prove you enemies right

Aljazeera is so worried about "The Gambia", yet President Jammeh is a practicing Muslim, but to the white arabs he's better known as "an abeed". When will we go back or form our own philosophy and language? At this current time is it best to fight President Jammeh, or Boka Haram? Worry about your countries, and keep your aid.

I think the opposition members were less than smart to indicate ICC prosecution after a magnanimous acceptance of defeat by Jammeh. Tells me members of the opposition aren't bright enough to rule the country and are a bunch of hyper-emotional, rather than thoughtful and calculative, individuals.

It is important for president Jammeh to take cue from presidents Gbargbo of Ivory Coast, Charles Taylor from Liberia, Kadifi of Libya and Sadam of Irag. These men went across the boundary of modern day democracy and they felt the pinch of the West. Be warned Jammeh!

You guys talking too much about other peoples business and forgetting about your your own. you have millions of things to talk about in your own countries. By the way, the same thing happened in the us during AL Gore time and the former American Dictator, it takes more than a week they can't tell the American people who the winner is, People have to go back to the polls again. If AJJ Jammeh, should refuse to step down Jan 19, I strongly believe he would not be able to survive next 2 years in the office, because the pressure will be too much on him, ECOWAS will apply strong false using ECOMOG, (the capacity of Gambian soldier is not to be compare Senegal Police Force) military barrack in Yundum & Farafenni can be rounded up with 3 hours - Sierra Leone military barracks was rounded up in 3 hours by ECOMOG in year 2000) there is no place for Jammeh to run to, Jammeh should ask formal Ivorian president, formal Liberian president Samuel Doe, and Charles Taylor, formal Nigerian head of States IBB Babangida, Sanni Abacha (Jammeh's best friend) etc Jammeh will gain respect if he step down on or before the inauguration, he would be counted among Rollins of Ghana, Obasanjo of Nigeria, Abdul Diouf of Senegal, etc
