Our only visit to the Corinth area was in 1974 on our honeymoon! This June, we'll be visiting the Peloponnese region for 2 weeks and thanks to you, we'll be much more informed and appreciative of this historical region. I can't wait to see the world from atop Acrocorinth! Keep up the awesome work!

I really wish we had time to see more here when we drove through. Will be back on the World tour. Another great video my friend.

Have visited Corinth canal, Acro-Corinth and ancient Corinth a few years ago on a private day tour from Athens. Things were a bit rushed as the tour also included Epidaurus and Mycenae. Certainly worth a return visit -- it really deserves a full day at least. So much incredible history here, including the interesting link to the New Testament. Appreciated the inclusion of modern Corinth and the ancient railroad that crossed the isthmus prior to the successful completion of the canal, after many failed attempts. Thanks again for another great video accompanied by commentary on the historical context, along with a modern perspective. This is what makes the content of this channel truly special!

Thank you, I am really pleased you enjoyed it. I am thinking I may drop back to 1 video every 2 weeks, not because I don't enjoy making these, but because I am having to travel further to the sites! Do you think that will harm my channel? Can hopefully focus on quality then too.

@@GreeceExplored We'll keep watching no matter the frequency. That's not answering your question, but honestly I don't know. Good luck!

As a fellow Hellenophile (ancient greek history degree etc) who has stayed in Corinth for several weeks at a time, and really like it, I enjoyed your video hugely - well informed and a good balance of info. Thankyou!

That is really kind of you, especially as you clearly have qualifications, whilst I am just a keen amateur!! I do love Corinth, one of my fav places actually. I am going to Epidaurus tomorrow, which I have been avoiding because everything there is eclipsed by the Theatre. I am guessing from your name you are UK based, I am going to do some UK vids later this summer... they are somewhat a harder sell though!

Although I visited Acrocorinth in the past now that I see it again I can easily connect it with the mountain of Monemvasia in the south of Peloponesse. It's exactly the same kind of mountain/rock !!!

I am hoping to get down to Monemvasia in the future, I am visiting the Mani Peninsula in a couple of weeks. Thanks for your comment.

@@GreeceExplored Mani is excellent choice especially the part that belongs to the prefacture of Messinia ( region with the capital city of Kalamata ). May I suggest two places there?

@@GreeceExplored oooh nice choise Areopolis. Don't miss Diros caves then in the area. In the part of Mani that belongs to Laconia prefacture (capital city of it is Sparta) I think you will like the small port of Gytheio (Γύθειο). It's as beautiful as NAFPLIO which many Greeks and foreigners also visit. It ain't has the castles that Nafplio has but it's an extremely cute and cozy town. Also Mistras (Μυστράς) with its ancient ruins in the same part of Mani is nice or at least was when I last visited. For the end I strongly suggest a detour in the way back to Athens to find the famous tiny chapel of Santa Theodora (famous as it's in the book of World Guiness Records). It's located near the village Vastas (Βαστάς or Βαστά) northwest of Sparta near the city of Megalopolis. You will see why it's famous as 17 trees sprout of its roof. A spectacle not found anywhere in the world. I am sure you will set your camera in fire (by shooting it from all angles) there but most probably you will end up to make a video also for RU-vid. The chapel is at least 1000 years old. It's not in Mani or Lakonia or Messinia but on the northern prefacture of Arcadia. And in the nearby forest across the road from the chapel take the path if you wish to dine to one of the best country taverns I have ever had a meal in the whole area. The food is divine as all the meat is cultivated in a nearby farm (you will see it first and then the tavern) that belongs to the owner.

@@Rousseau4469 Thank you for your amazing comment. I will certainly look for the Church near Megalopolis, that in itself is an interesting town, though for the wrong reasons with 2 lignite power stations. They were due to be shut in 2026 but are now being kept open... I live in Arcadia and Argos and Nafplio are my local big towns, I have several videos on Nafplio and one on Argos if you are interested in seeing them today. I also visited Mystras and Sparta recently, I am slowly working my way around the Peloponnese!! I don't know it brilliantly though so always appreciate suggestions such as yours. It is interesting, or hard though, I cant read a video or locations popularity until I have published the video - Kalamata has proven very popular, followed by Sparta and a bus tour of Athens, whilst Nafplio, or Mystras not so much, to date. Really appreciate the time you have taken to reply. Thank you. Patras next, though I haven't edited the video yet....

do you know that on the roman side of the canal there is a bust of Nero carved into the sandstone? He is depicted inside a temple. Look on google maps and zoom in on the Corinth gulf side and you can see the marker on the map.
