The music video is a satire of the stereotypes of foreigners about Greece. Tzatziki, souvlaki, gyros , feta, Leonidas and more. She said in an interview that she wants people to go beyond these stereotypes of Greece. Mixed with an essence of modern Greece and modern Greek culture, showing us the greek 'cult' culture whilst keeping it fresh and modern. She basically said "you want me to give you feta gyros and acropolis? Here you go but we are more than that so you're also gonna see what Greece actually is" such a queen
I love how they done this music video! Like a tour guide clip, in a very "stereotypical" way, so fun. Lot's of cultural flavour, very unique. I really love it!
Finally, Greece is not trying to please anyone... I will always respect artistic vision and honest direction. I like this. It's not my favourite, but I do appreciate her creativity...People will get confused for sure but this is definitely qualifying
The music is so fresh and addictive... How cool is that! And Marina Satti's voice, my goodness; With this contemporary vibe with Greek ethnic classical elements, this promises on stage. It will be in the Top 3 at this Eurovision and with the potential to win.
For me: mind blown. This in its essence is what I’ve been watching Eurovision for over the years- something that represent what happens in the country it comes from. I get it. Will Europe? Not sure but it’s totally unique &authentic and I hope that gets rewarded.
Not because I'm Greek but also knowing Marina Satti's discography I was instantly hooked with the chorus. Very dancy song, I don't think there's any need to compare it to Italy's entirely pop song or her to Rosalia.... She is a Balkan Folk singer! She has my appreciation! Go Marina♥
Satirical, original, combinatorial, funny, a song that at every turn turns everything upsets and rouses you. It’s a fresh, genius and cool song with an unbeatable rhythm. I think the best Greek song of the last years supported by an amazing singer (as shown in the song's introduction with her high-pitched voice). The more I listen to it, the more I like it.
Apparently this belongs to the field of novelty songs, but with a much more steady artistic base than the Netherlands or Finland. I would put it next to Switzerland.
I love the music video 😂 it’s very playfully mocking the tour groups she probably sees around Athens all the time, and the western tourists with their sandals and socks. She’s an ambassador inviting them into the world of the “real Greece” which is represented by the scenes of Greek people enjoying life humbly while eastern musical elements play in the background, complementing her native language, which is so beautiful. It’s very much an “east meets west” pan-European theme, which makes so much sense given the geography and culture of Greece. I think you need to just watch the video with a bit of sense of humor and take it all in without overthinking it and I bet you will enjoy it a lot more. ;)
I love this music video-with its intentionally lowbrow aesthetic. I do think there's probably no relation to how it will be staged, which I'm VERY curious about. Definitely a bold refreshing choice from Greece.
"This is the year of the risk". Couldn't agree more and I think this is why this year is really strong. I'm not watching Eurovision to hear songs that I could hear on the radio. Granted, I really like Dizzy, The Tower etc, but I prefer to hear the unique sound of that particular country. This is exactly what Greece is giving us this year and the Greek language is just perfect for music. Greece and Cyprus need to lean into that a lot more than they do at Eurovision as it's a real underused asset. Zari hasn't got me on first listen but neither did La Noia and now that's high in my top 10. The song doesn't really have a noticeable hook but it's still the best Greek entry since Oniro Mou and is now 8th in my top 31. I'm certain it won't share the same fate even though I do prefer Oniro Mou as a song (my winner of 2018).
The tourist character with the camera and sandals with socks was my clue as a non-Greek speaker that this music video was very much tongue-in-cheek commentary. The whole thing is kind of brilliant actually.
First listen watching the reveal show/stream i was confused and wasn’t really sure what to make of it altogether. So i went straight to her RU-vid after to hear it again and the final minute clicked. Third listen and yea i fully got it🔥 Very interesting with the transitions and all the elements involved but i’m here for it even if its full on at times!
First listen I thought it was a total mess. Four listens in and I think it’s interesting and intriguing and true to its nation and (bits of it) are quite catchy. It will either grab the audience or bomb, as with a few others. Good to see countries breaking the ‘predictable’ mould and shaking things up.
I like it but I don't know why it reminds me a little bit a song of an Indian Group ( Punjabi MC " munbay to back ke" or something like this) I know it's not the same music😅 but I don't know why I make this comparison.🙄
Hello from Cyprus 🇨🇾 so enything your going to say i will not change my mind about Marina or the song. We speak the same language and we have the same tradition. I understand perfectly well and is a love story ♥️ Kisses and hugs for you ❤
The video is wonderful. The point of the video is to resemble a sightseeing tour, something you’d record with a cellphone. Those deliberate “bad camera movements” executed well at specific points, and the excessive visual impact are spot on. And it’s not that hard to understand. The song is a solid banger!!!
This song is brilliant. It's like Rosalia's TKN meets Greek traditional musical chaos. Don't mind the music video actually, love it's vintage equally chaotic feel with a distinct Greek flavour. The Mediterranean countries - Greece, Italy, Spain - are on fire this year. P.S. If an artist is very experimental, they always have to tone it down for Eurovision. Kudos to her for presenting something experimental yet accessible.
Really enjoyed your analysis. It goes to show you know your Eurovision shit. What I love about the song is that it's got so many contradicting and unique elements..its so mind blowing that I'm still processing it and this doesn't happen with many songs nowadays. Most of them are digestible with one listen. I know some people are going to loathe the song on the first listen but Zari is a grower.
absolutely love this song! however i would have to disagree with you about the music video because im absolutely in love with it. For sure its playing for more of the urban/y2k type music videos. Hope you have fun at Melodifestivalen Shane 🫶🏼!
not necessarily my taste in music but by the end of the first listen it had already started to grow on me! so i can see it bumping up in my rankings once i listen to it more!! I prefer Greece send something like this than the safe predictable pop/ballads they've sent the past few years! I think if they stage this well & pick a good snippet for the voting recap it could do well 10-16th kinda energy!

Lyrics in English: Hopefully pain won't come to us I fall and i roll like a 🎲 I pretend that i forget your name and everything around me changes abruptly. Where will the wind take us I fall and I roll like a 🎲 I pretend that I forget your perfume And everything around me changes... I'm gonna do it my way I will get in and out of your mind Because you didn't even give me your hand to hold to I used to have a hidden pain for you I leave everything get out Let's go Put your hands up I pretend that it wasn't a lie Throw for one last time ( probably the 🎲) And then let it bring us whatever it wants to Ta ta ta ta ta Ta ta ta ta ta And then let it bring us whatever it wants to Ta ta ta ta ta Let it bring us whatever it wants to Ta ta ta ta ta ta And let it be , let it bring us whatever it wants to then Ta ta ta ta ta ta It's better for me not to remember The days that i was about to get crazy It's better for me not to remember You didn't believe That karma is real Let's go Put your hands up I pretend that it wasn't a lie Throw for one last time ( probably the 🎲) And then let it bring us whatever it wants to Ta ta ta ta ta ta Even if I stay alone I always wait for you I tremble like a flame Like a lighted match When the morning comes The marazi ( sadness ) eats me ( makes me anxious, it doesn't go away ) I die alone if you're somewhere else. Ta ta ta ta ta ta And then let it bring us whatever it wants to Ta ta ta ta ta ta Let it bring us whatever it wants to Ta ta ta ta ta ta And let it be to bring us whatever it wants to then Ta ta ta ta ta ta Hopefully pain won't come to us I fall and i roll like a 🎲 I pretend that i forget your name and everything around me changes abruptly. Opa opa opa Slowly slowly slowly ( music ) Ta ta ta ta ta ta And then let it bring us whatever it wants to Ta ta ta ta ta ta Let it bring us whatever it wants to Ta ta ta ta ta ta And let it be let it bring us whatever it wants to then Oue oue oue And everything around me changes .
H πιο "ακραία" περίπτωση γυναίκας τραγουδίστριας στην Ελλάδα Καλλιτέχνης, μια μοντέρνα ιδιοφυία που φτιάχνει τις τάσεις!. Μαρίνα Σάττι My first choice is..... Marina and Greece!!
Imo the song doesn't have very 'Greek' sounds. The beginning sounds more 'Indian' to Greek ears at least. Someone who knows more about music should comment on it. And the ethnic elements can be considered not very Greek, although these sounds do exist in Greece too. I'm not saying that as a bad thing.
I'm with you here Shane. I can totally appreciate the artistry shown by Marina Satti. I hear and immediate recognise this songs "greekness". It's just not my bag. Maybe after a few more listens my opinions may change. However, i don't wish to listen to it again, just now. Respect to Greece for picking this and i wish them well in Malmö. Ps. Have a ball at Melfest Shane. My idea of a nightmare but hey ho!. That's what makes the world keep spinning 😁😁👍
Hahahahaha I grew up with Greece as a powerhouse. I have high expectations haha 😄 Irrespective of that and my bad taste haha, I keep reading Rosalia on Twitter (who I don't listen to) and I believe that's a GOOD THING??? 😃 ❤️
I instantly thought that too. I can’t hear any Greek in here. I here Latino regaetton and Indian Bollywood. But no Greek. I don’t hate it but as a regaetton song it’s not breaking boundaries.
@@alexandra-md5he Marina may have two different cultures represented in her family, that's a personal & private life of hers. But if she is representing GREECE in the ESC, that's it, she has a responsibility to this. It has to be showing Greek culture, the way of Greek songs & music that represents & sounds traditionally Greek! In her own personal & commercial discography, she can experiment & produce any kind of song she likes. If she has a fascination with eg: Japanese or Chinese music & songs, then she has the authority to produce any kinds of songs & music she likes. What I would like to know is, what was the Greek ESC Delegation thinking or doing, when they approved this song to represent Greece?! Btw, I'm not even Greek, but I come from a traditional & cultural background; & I'm even pissed off at all this just as much as some Greeks are! Ty & Gluck.
This is giving very Rosalia. Tbh it’s really not what i like to listen… not even close. But given this is Greece, it’s in the very easy semi final and loads of people love this style of music - I think this will do really well
I was the other way around, really enjoyed the music video but I could leave the song tbh - not bad, just I prefer other 'similar' songs this year which shadow this for me
Hey Shane! 😊 Hmm, ok I want to like this because the song has Greek tones which I love. But unfortunately, the song changes in all possible tones and twists with overly sharp transitions. The most dominant thing in the song is "TA TA TA TA" which I don't like, it's too sharp sounding for me. If this were removed, the song would have been more listenable to my ears, maybe even good. Because I absolutely love the vocal parts, it's angelic 💖😇. I like the rhythm, the Greek tones and love the instruments!! But unfortunately it gets too messy, gets no context, especially at the end. I don't like the "talk" after the last vocal part and that the song takes yet another direction before the end. If what I hear here becomes less "sharp" live and the different elements merge more, e.g. of dance that takes over the attention - then I am much more positive about the whole thing! 😊 I wish them good luck! 🌺💖
Are you sure??? I think the speed is normal I just edited the video 😃 I cut parts. The magic technique we now need to do yo not get caught for copyright! ❤️
My friend, if you think this is a classic "sound" of Greece, then you need to either check your ears or actually begin to listen to Greek Music. Sorry, but this is beyond apparent.
I would like to formally apologise to anyone who loves this song because I really just don't like it sadly. Something about it really does not click with me and I don't know why. It's currently my 29th place.
@@ShanesEurovisionReviewAgree so much. I love seeing other people's opinions on the songs, it's sad when people are disrespectful though. Also bit late but congrats on 9k subs!
