At the end of this video when you're down in the valley there's an old ruin of a house and outhouse in the background over your shoulder, this is where my dad was born in 1923 ,sacred ground to me ,thanks for posting, greetings from Florida.
Wow, that’s amazing to hear. I often wonder about the places I hike to, but to hear a story like this just totally adds a whole other level to it. Thanks for sharing and glad you enjoyed the video. 👍🏻Ed
OK...jusrt watching this stunning video makes me think Michael Ó Muircheartaigh...."Ahhh...Donegal thought they had the edge but Kerry take the three points in a might flash!! It's all the green and gold friom here!"
After watching this, my wife and I are planning to take this walk this summer. We'll be walking the Beara way for the second time, so we'll just modify the day from Eyeries to Lauragh (weather dependent, of course). Thanks for the video, Eddie. Great work, as usual.
Thanks very much Randy. if heading up the mountains it’s definitely a walk for a clear day. Going from Eskatarriff to Tooth i found very hard going, I used a gpx track I got from www.MountainViews.ie, and even then it was tough. But as it’s your second time heading around there you know well what the terrain is like. Have a fantastic time and hopefully the weather is kind. ☀️ 💨
@@eddieforde Well, the weather didn't cooperate on the day, but we took the Rabhach's Glen walk instead. It was just the two of us, we had the valley to ourselves. The scenery was incredible and the walk was well worth the time. Get back there if you can, Eddie! I'd love to see your video of it.
Hi Randy, yea, it’s not been a great summer with the weather, a few nice spells, but overall poor enough. As you say it’s a stunning location alright and a place I’ll definitely visit in the future, but with so many other places I’ve yet to get to it could be a while yet. The good thing is it’s going nowhere. Delighted you had a good trip and thanks for following up and letting me know 👍😉
Very nice video, really enjoyed your relaxed style, and those big views of the south west were stunning. I hiked the circuit a couple of times years ago, will definitely have to head back down that way. If you are heading back there the famine village in the valley is well worth visiting, a beautiful location, even if it has a sad history.
Thanks Brendan, it must be great to have it done a few times, you can really appreciate it all. Being my first time here there was a lot to take in between the scenery and the hike itself. I’ll definitely head back, it’s a great loop. Ed
Hi Andrew, I had great weather for it, makes everything look fantastic. The sound was a real pain for me for a while with the wind noise, which as you can tell, is in nearly all the vids. It was definitely worth getting the new mics, thanks for noticing :)
Thanks James, yea, the views from up there were pretty amazing alright. Getting the fine weather helped, when I say fine, the 2nd half was still Baltic, but it’s all relative 🥶
Brilliant hike and really want to do this one in summer! Well done on another great video! Is the land owner still charging €5 per person for parking lol. Keep up the great videos
Hi Ross, yea, it’s a great hike alright, I had hoped to do it again this summer when everything was green but it just didn’t happen, next year hopefully. And yep, €4 for adult, €2 for kids is what I was told. Thanks again. 👍🏻
thanks Katarzyna, I found it tough but well worth it. looking back it took me around 8 hours, that's with a lot of stopping for photos and video, I ended up with a lot more video I didn't include. The navigation on the 2nd part was tricky so be sure and have a route prepared for it. I used the Adrian Hendroff guide for the Beara peninsula and it helped a lot. Hope you get a great day for it :D , Ed
Thanks Eddie, great video. did this Friday and camped just below Tooth. You’re right , it’s a serious hike 😂 - I was glad for the overnight with the break but the views are just unbelievable. Wouldn’t be doing this unless weather was really good as it is at the moment.
It's a good hike for sure. still a bit stiff after it tbh. The shots, yea, don't know why I didn't add any. Would you believe the best shots I got were on the way home looking back at it. Like yourself ,, you can check it out on my blog, link in description :p
