Israel's Artem Dolgopyat won a historic gold medal in artistic gymnastics at Tokyo 2020, claiming the men's floor exercise gold during the first of four apparatus finals. Prior to this, no gymnast from the nation had won a medal of any colour in the sport at the Olympic Games and only one other athlete had won gold in Olympic history - Gal Fridman's sailing gold in 2004. The British commentator is usually pretty on it but she under valued two of his passes. Made his difficulty seem a lot less than what it actually was. It’s like she wasn’t paying full attention.

I don't want to downplay the gymnasts' achievements and hard work, but this really seems to be so much less sophisticated compared to women's artistic gymnastics :(

So the word I would use is “involved”. The women include dancing and music and whatnot, but men have much more difficult tumbling moves. But I enjoy it being separated like this because if the women were to just limited to tumbling and a strength move, it’d be much less watchable as most would rather watch the ones who can flip more or do more impressive strength moves

Yeah it just feels monotone and robotic, which is crazy because these jumps and tumbles are so difficult. I wish men's floor exercise also had music and valued artistic moves more. Having passes back to back ruins the flow.
