ഇന്ത്യയിൽ നിർബന്ധിത വിവാഹമോചന രജിസ്ട്രേഷൻ നിയമം,
റവന്യൂ-ദുരന്തനിവാരണ മന്ത്രി ജോഗൻ മോഹൻ അവതരിപ്പിച്ച അസം നിർബന്ധിത മുസ്ലീം വിവാഹങ്ങളുടെയും വിവാഹമോചനങ്ങളുടെയും ബിൽ, 2024, ശൈശവവിവാഹങ്ങൾ അനുവദിക്കുന്ന, ബഹുഭാര്യത്വത്തെ അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്യാത്ത 1935-ലെ മുസ്ലീം വിവാഹ-വിവാഹമോചന നിയമത്തിന് പകരമാകും. ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് കാലത്തെ നിയമം മാർച്ചിൽ ഒരു ഓർഡിനൻസ് വഴി റദ്ദാക്കി, കഴിഞ്ഞ വ്യാഴാഴ്ച അത് റദ്ദാക്കാനുള്ള ബിൽ സർക്കാർ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു.
ഖാസിമാർ നടത്തിയ മുൻ വിവാഹ രജിസ്ട്രേഷനുകൾ സാധുവായിരിക്കുമെന്നും പുതിയ വിവാഹങ്ങൾ മാത്രമേ പുതിയ നിയമത്തിന് വിധേയമാകൂ എന്നും മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഹിമന്ത ബിശ്വ ശർമ്മ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
The Assam Compulsory Registration of Muslim Marriages and Divorces Bill, 2024, introduced by revenue and disaster management minister Jogen Mohan, will replace the Muslim Marriages and Divorces Act of 1935, which allowed child marriages and did not address polygamy. The British-era law was repealed by an ordinance in March, and the government tabled the bill to repeal it last Thursday.
Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that previous marriage registrations conducted by Qazis will remain valid, and only new marriages will be subject to the new legislation.
