Naqsh Jahan Square is also famous with the historical name of Shah Square and after the 1357 Iranian Revolution with the official name of Imam Square, the central square of Isfahan city, which is located in the heart of the Naqsh Jahan historical complex.
The historical buildings on the four sides of Naqsh Jahan Square include Ali Qapu, Shah Mosque (Imam Mosque), Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque and Sardar Qaisarieh, which is the main entrance to Isfahan Bazaar. In addition to these buildings, two hundred two-story rooms are located around the square, which are generally the place of supply of handicrafts of Isfahan.
Naqsh Jahan Square was registered as number 102 in the list of national monuments of Iran on 8th of Bahman 1313 and in May 1358 as number 115, it was one of the first Iranian works to be registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
