How hard is it to learn your course in korean? And how did you manage to adapt to learning in korean? I'd love to see a video on how you cope in class with the language barrier and how it affects your studies ❤

Hello! I have a question I would like to apply to an undergraduate program, but I was wondering if it's possible under the GKS to do a micro-major/minor with the major that you choosed? For e.g. the Major being Medicine and maybe a micro major in Biomedical Engineering, I'm quite interested in Yonsei and I saw that they have the micro major system, also seeing how in the USA there is the option of studying minors while you do your major and that peaked my interest and made me wonder if this could be possible. Thanks in advance for the responses :)
I’m not really sure about this. You can ask the department because every department works differently. In my case even though I applied for a certain major, I am doing an integrated major, so I believe there is a possibility.
Hi Noelle, a new subscriber here! :) I’m applying for the GKS program through the university track (Yonsei’s medical humanities program, just sent my documents last week) and I read some comments on a RU-vid video saying that we have to apply through the “normal” admission track as well (not just through GKS) otherwise we’ll get accepted for the scholarship but not by the university. Was that the case for you as well? I’m really confused because if that’s the case I gotta get another set of apostilled documents to send before the end of the normal admission period, and the whole process is not cheap 🥲 thanks in advance and I wish you all the best during your time at Yonsei! ☺️
Thank you for the video!! I have a question, is your masters program in pure korean? If so was it manageable as a GKS student with the 1 year of intense language school , or do they let you take exams and assignments in English as well?
Hi!! My program is purely in korean although i could submit my assignments in English and I did some presentations in English as well (after seeking permission from my professor). Honestly I feel that the 1 year of “intense” language school (not that intense at all to be honest) is just gonna help with daily speaking/일상 생활 의사소통 level? Also I started with a Level 4 and although I got topik 6, I would say I am extremely lacking for a graduate student. The language school won’t prepare you for academic writing and professional presentations. I have friends from other departments where their professor request them to do better in korean if not they can’t enter the lab. Thankfully I am in the business department so submitting assignments in English isn’t an issue but unfortunately for other departments they only accept assignments and presentations to be fully in korean. It really depends on the school/major/professor so it is best to ask them beforehand. Hopefully this clears some of your doubts! I do have friends who are pretty weak in Korean and have their courses entirely in korean (and are suffering) but they still manage to survive so I would say just mentally prepare for it to be tough!

This helped a lot and somehow eased my mind because no university in Seoul offers my major (science) in english. I’ll need to work hard then! Yonsei looks fun💕 enjoying your content ❤️

It depends! Some department only requires English OR Korean proficiency score while some states that English proficiency score is compulsory. You have to check the respective department’s requirements ☺️

If you are just referring to regular admissions its not that hard because they don’t have a quota for international students, but I would say language proficiency is the bare minimum
GSIS is taught in English for most Korean college (GSIS us graduate business school. If you choose a regular major then you must pass a Topik test, level 4 but even then international students said it’s still hard on them. On top of that consider if you will be putting a burden on your classmates for group projects as well if they have to explain things to you. It’s best You either choose business major in English or study Korean for years. If you choose GSIS you can still join Korean clubs for other stuff like music, sports, and other interests)
Hi! If you are talking about the GKS scholarship, then technically you don’t have to know the language. But it is honestly very difficult if the course you choose will be taught in korean. You’ll have to work extremely hard~

@@noelle. thank u for applying I already emailed Yonsei, and they told me that we will pay per month; but for the price they still not decide; so I hope they can make discounts cause we will have the language year at Yonsei as well ( they change a lot this year) And I’m gonna study business as well for my bachelor’s, I hope I can meet you someday to receive advice from you And thank you again
@@i012ub oh that’s good! All my friends staying in the dorm are paying a semester’s worth upfront. For the discounts there are no perks (unlike other schools e.g 국민대 who provides free accoms to students). If you don’t want any curfew imposed (1am) on you I would suggest just staying out of campus!
