I loved Laos 🇱🇦. Was there in July for a couple of days I was in Vientiane and Vang Vieng. It’s peaceful, the people are nice even with little English they bring so much joy when I was there. Hoping to go back soon

It may sound selfish, but those of us that do know about Laos don't want it spoilt. It's a magical place, and we would hate it to become too commercialised.

Laos may well simply be naturally beautiful whilst not having a great deal to offer different to any of the other SE Asian countries to promote itself. No island, no beaches, just a laid back country which are a major attraction just about everywhere else. Probably also doesn't attract the mongers that focus on Thailand and the Philippines principally to satisfy their desires (beer, women and partying). Nice video Chai. Cheers mate and hope the ear infection is well and truly behind you. 🤩

Thanks Steven! I think that’s a good add to this video. There is definitely not such a party scene over here. Very laidback indeed 😎 have a great day 🏆

Laos is a beautiful country with lovely people. Untouched by modernity. Hoped it will remain that way. It's a paradise on earth, my most favorite place on earth is Luang Prabang.....so chill and relaxing. I will always go back to visit this country. Much love from the Philippines. ❤

@@jtns2845 some people are poor by money but rich in heart.....that is luang prabang. it may not have the amenities of an ultra modern city but culturally rich in heritage and the people are naturally kind hearted, calm & welcoming. having peace of mind during our stay there was enriching to our well being. that's richness to me.....i perceive 'richness' and see life in a different perspective which is completely opposite from yours.❤❤❤

@@bellamari4034 when i read “untouched by modernity” i imagine kids dying from drinking bad water or hardworking folks whose future has few hopes. l.p. is culturally attractive and quaintly quiet, certainly pleasant for a few days. places like l.p. are “chill” only because a tourist can freely move on. i like laos and its people, but i can’t understand waxing rhapsodically about “keeping it that way” to have someplace be a spot for tourists to sample.

Be sure to check out the sleepy town of Nong Khiaw, where you can catch a river boat to the peaceful Muang Ngoy village. Vang Vieng has recovered from the party tourism, but for the chillest experience head down to Don Det by the Canbodian border for bike rides around the islands and the biggest waterfall by volume in southeast Asia. Haopy travels!

Ciao. Your videos are always beautiful and full of healthy energy. Grazie I have been to Laos twice, 2002 and 2013. I found it very changed, for better or for worse I can’t tell but is right that a country grows even if this also brings negative things. The last time I saw many construction sites and many Chinese construction sites. Luang Prapang for me is one of the most beautiful cities in Asia. Together with Hanoi and Chiang Mai, Bangkok is in another category, I love Bangkok. To answer your question: why do people skip Laos I answer: because in Laos there is no sea, and beautiful beaches But if Laos does not see millions of tourists does not necessarily mean it is negative. Some places in Thailand are suffocating to too many tourists Ciao from Italy

It doesn’t have nice beaches like the Philippines or magnificent mountains scenery like vietnam, the food and culture are similar to those of thailand, to sum up it doesn’t have one big outstanding thing that other SEA countries dont have to offer. People skip Laos because they fear what they do not know, and there has been no mass marketing campaign to visit such a diverse and beautiful country. RU-vidrs have been doing what they can to spread the word, and word of mouth along the banana pancake trail before that. But some people aren't in the know about these forums of information. Looking forward to my trip next year, hope to spread the good word. It's grown past it's former Vang Vieng days, which i considered a reputation unfairly earned. lao could be like costa rica of southeast asia, but the greed and corruption is killing this country. each of the leaders are so poor, in order to be rich they are selling their natural resources to the lowest bidder. even that, they should take the money and reinvest in the infrastructures, roads, sewer plants, canals, hotels, and others... lao can't handle for example if 5M people travel there because there is no hotels or guesthouses to accommodating tourist. if the leaders of this landlock country does it right by team up with vietnam, cambodia, and thailand as a travel destination. it's crazy! the infrastructure of roads, for example, from kasi to sala phou koon, that road needed to be fixed and improved, but if the leader see a bigger picture that road and every roads in lao have this amazing vista. also, the government should have a weight checkpoint on those big trucks; these trucks are destroying road that had already been fixed. lao is an amazing country, beside those few big cities dotted along the mae nam knong. edit add: another thing i dislike lao is the slash-and-burn season, was there in lao year and a half ago, it was so smokey, had to leave sooner, its not good for those who has asthma.

Young tourists and old tourists are not the same. To someone 60, 70+, Laos is a communist country. Laos is dangerous. Laos has land mines. Laos is the memories during the war 50+ years ago. To the younger crowd : No beaches for sun bathing, no wild parties, no full moon party, no weed, no drugs, ( drugs = a long jail sentence), what is there to do all day other than trek around or look at the river? To everyone: Laotians speak little English. There is a visa fee and papers to fill out. Few direct flights. Very few Laotians live overseas, so we never learn about them or their country. There are Vietnamese and Thais and Filipinos all over the world to create an interest. To me, I have been visiting Laos for 20 years, and my former maid of seven years is from Vientiane. I like it there very much.
@imperialkhmer6146
@imperialkhmer6146 28 дней назад
Many Lao people live overseas but they are not interested in promoting their own country rather Thailand instead. Why they promote Thailand? Maybe it has to do with the Siamese oppression of the Laos people 100 years ago.

@@imperialkhmer6146 THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION. My former maid often returns from Vientiane to Jomtien where her sister has a restaurant, and she pulls on me and my friends to visit Laos now as the currency is weak.

@@dksharron Yes. Many Lao people depend on Thailand for almost everything. It's almost like the Lao country doesn't exist to them. I have met many Lao Americans here and everytime they always talk about Thailand.

@@imperialkhmer6146 I remember 10 yers ago, the Big C and similar stores in Nongkhai were packed with Laotians buying toothpaste and much more to resell in Laos.

People don't even go to Isaan which is very similar to Laos but within a country that is one of the more popular tourist destinations. The demand isn't that high..

What are you on about? Not everyone in Israel is supporting the war and they are unfortunate enough to be subject to military service.

@@Chai_Travel Everything shut down too early. It cost money to see anything. The shops have nothing. I struggled a lot just to find a 20inch tire and it was a cheap one that didn't last. Of course, among all the other countries around, it's the only one not having access to the ocean and I'm a beach bum! The food is boring. Thailand was ok, Cambodia was interesting, Vietnam was great, Myanmar was special . All those countries, i would go back. Laos, no.
