This is the case! I believe only one or two of them roped you. They wouldn't need to show you their IDs and bring you to their home if they were real thugs.. they could easily rope you on a side street if they were real criminals. Glad you are safe. This actually could happen anywhere in the world even in first world countries. Be careful out there and I advice you to find a local to show you around when you're in poor or dangerous neighborhoods anywhere in the world. Safety first!
I enjoy your videos usually. I think you are wrong here. The people showed you good hospitality even when they themselves were struggling and it is unfair to have a title generalizing and accusing them all of being thieves and thugs! It could have ended up much much worse if they were real dangerous criminals.
Dont think a thief would show his face to the camera and introduce his parents and then rob you. I think the theif was an unknown person in that large group who acted alone and embarrassed this friendly family.

They seem so nice! It's so hard to imagine they actually did that but someone had to, obviously. It's really a shame because it really seemed genuine by them and I bet it was by almost all, it only takes one or two bad guys to have such an experience and bad memory about a region for a long time
I can't believe you went by yourself to Baalbeck! There are areas near Syrian border that are known to be dangerous where smugglers, kidnappers, drug dealers and criminals reside there. Hello sir, I just saw this video after I watched your visit to my town Basra in Iraq and left you a comment on one of your videos in Iraq about the word “nus” which means “half” when you were getting a sandwich for 1500 Iraqi dinars. I just want to let you know in the minute 11:05 in this video, one of the guys ( I think the bald guy) made a comment about you are going to get a surprise while you were there. I don’t know how to explain it exactly in English but the phrase that one of them used implied bad intentions. He said “ ferd alah ale” which means when someone gets in trouble. So basically they already Knew something bad is coming your way. Now I could be wrong, but that’s very clear to me they had bad intent towards you and they probably planned all that in a short time and they had to act quickly. Anyways, I’m glad you are safe, and I know you’ll not encounter such a thing in Iraq.
In mind it was very clear that they planned everything from the beginning. So thank you very much for your comment, it does confirm this idea. Really, thank you very for mentioning what they said, it does help me a lot to understand what happened when I was with them.
I'm a Lebanese, I watch most of your videos thank you. Yes, I agree with Diaa Z that one of the guys said quote: " Menna Al aah Eleee" means You've been trapped". I'm glad that you were able to escape later and most important that you are safe thanks to God. This situation does happen in most countries of the world and doesn't stop only in Lebanon. The world is still good to explore and there are good people in Lebanon and in every country all over the world. My advice to you is to always make sure you've learned about the places that you are thinking to explore. Take care my friend and I wish you all the best, Hussein
The guy with the long hair organised everything, he's a bad dude through and through. He called the bearded guy because he spoke English to get you to stay. I'd say all the other guys knew you were going to get robbed. When ever you're around a bunch of dudes siting around doing nothing its a bad sign. No one does anything for free. Have a tea and leave. You also seem to laugh a lot, nervously. To these guys that's a sign of weakness to exploit and they don't respect that. Because you dont speak Arabic, its difficult to gain respect. Its best to be respectful, accept small hospitality and always be wary
Also, I've seen in your videos you accept gifts and services for free. I wouldn’t do that. If you don't want to show you have money in that moment, come back later to the shop and bring a gift or something. That shows respect and they will like and remember you. You have to match hospitality for hospitality. These people are not there for just your personal experiences and satisfactions.
btw I'm not being critical. I just watch your videos and think how I could behave in these situations to be safe, primarily and these are just my thoughts
I completely understand your point, and it does make sense. Regarding the relationship with them, I think that my behavior did not really matter, whatever I would have done, they would have always tried to rob me. Regarding gifts, I accept gifts because in the end I don't really care if people give me things or not (I don't get satisfied by receiving a gift, I never receive any gift for my birthday or christmas, because I actually don't like to receive gifts), and I don't feel that I owe anything to people who give me things, because often people give for themselves (often people give not to make the person who receives the gift happy, but they give because giving makes them happy, and makes them feel that they have high morals). And personally, I don't really like to give, because then I feel as if I was trying to buy sympathy And regarding who dominates who, I also don't really care, if people want to think that they are better than me, or that they dominate me, very good for them, I honestly don't care.
@@KinoYves Amazing and thrilling adventures you make man!. I think you have some kind of psychopathic behaviour 😂 No offense man. Take it as compliment 😀. Glad that I found you channel. You deserve million subscribers. Your stories are dangerous and authentic like in old adventure books.
@@sports__moments You are very right. I noticed the same. Hospitality in that culture is mutual, you either take and give back, or your politely and humbly avoid taking from them. Most of the time, they are poor, and every little thing counts for them. Western people should understand that before making trip to those places.
The people of these regions are good people (I believe their family is like that). But when I saw the man with the long hair (his look caused me a certain suspicion). These motorcycles, cars, Balenciaga (can be made in China) and elsewhere make me suspicious. I live in Brazil and this is a typical gangster from my country. The only difference is that they don't try to make friends, they rob you of your strength. Unfortunately =(
Never judge the Book by its cover. But Good and bad people are everywhere. Same in United States. There are some Homeless people who are sweet and Genuinely good. But there are other who will steal things so they can buy Drugs.
That's why (I think I can speak for many Eastern Europeans) we are so suspicious of hospitality of other cultures. Even if genuine, it seems too forced. When we see this behavior, the first thing we think is "how is he going to rob me now". I saw a few Yves' videos, the hospitality blew my mind, but this long-haired dude gave bad vibes since the beginning. But I probably would've easily get caught in his trap too. I was so anxious just watching the video, because the moment he sat down, it was impossible to leave the place. That's why if somebody smiles at me on the street and tries to begin a conversation, I will avoid him as much as I can. "Expensive" cars, bikes and clothes are suspicious too. Yes, don't judge the book by its cover, but sometimes prejudice can save your life. Most of the family seemed genuine, though.
@@pakan357 what you are taking about is inner feeling it can be right or wrong depending on certain elements and can be shaped by cultural values. But what I was taking about is media brainwashing and racial profiling. Having a thick beard does not make a guy bad. Many of the pious people in past before mass media had long beards the Abrahimic faith prophet, Jesus as portrayed in church paintings, many well known science figures such as Einstein, Newton, Charles Darwin the list goes on. Media want to make men look and resemble woman hence they keep promoting clean shaved feminine look of men as the heroes.
@Sensless I was also thinking there is no proof, but he doesn't seem like a guy who needs to fabricate a story for views. I judge the book by its cover and those two guys look sketchy as hell, so I choose to believe his story. My life doesn't depend on it if he lies. And he doesn't hate Lebanon. Other the people were nice to him.
I don’t believe they are all bad like you have mentioned that not all of them were involved. I think the family welcomed you because thats part of hospitality in Arabic culture. Its a real shame that someone in that house ruined that experience. It would of been one of your best experiences if the issue didn’t happen.
I could see the danger already in the eyes of the guy in 5:01 approaching you and inviting you for coffee. THERE it all started! Some good rules for you..DO NEVER BE with a group of idle young people like this... Those guys was planing not only to rob you, but also to kidnap you and ask ransom from France, which can be very traumatic even if you survive it. There was some red flags, to learn from next time: 1. CHARISMATIC guy with the weed necklace, he seems to be the one keeping you distracted from listning to your inner alarm bells. 2. The over exaggeration generosity and attention. Ask yourself WHY do you think they will feed you and waste their money on you? Those people are poor. 3. The fleshy and expensive bikes and cars they showed you. Do you sincerely believe those people afford buying things lika that? They are most probably stolen or robbed from other victims. 4. No one seems to go to work. What are they living on? They didn't seem to do anything else than waiting for their prey like appear. In general I would say avoid POOR areas, even if most of them are extremely nice, there will always be 1 and 2 who are taking advantage of the lawlessness in that area. And sometime 1 and 2 is just enough to make you regret the time you set your foot there. There is a reason why those places are empty of tourists. Thanks God you survived this, I don't believe this was their first victim... The elders knew this as well, that's why they where not very chatty and kept low profile, as what they will do with you is part of their life to survive.
I think the ones you met initially and fed you were genuine. Even to the point of giving you headscarf to protect you from the sun since you don't wear a hat to protect your ears, nose and necks. The dance they are doing is taking utube by storm, I'm glad you showed it in slow motion
You did a good job when you were robbed, you didn't tell them about you stole your money to develop the matter and it became a quarrel between you and them and they killed you and no one knew about your corpse Well done man also the area there is no police I expect the long-haired owner and his friend
the moment you joined them and even accepted the tea was too much to give them. that person with the weed necklace is a huge red flag. the way they act weird and crazy is just a way to mess with you. i suggest doing research of these areas so that you know where you shouldnt stop
Yeah the whole meeting/gathering had a weird vibe the way they kept looking at him I mean there are nice people but this just seemed like a set up from the get go! But these people will get what they deserve God sees everything 🙏

at 15:12, One of men told the little boy "farjeh habbourtak la 3ammou" which means "show your penis to mister". That statement alone goes to show their depraved and horrible personality!
I know some Arabic. It sounds like a joke. Not nefarious. You're dealing with folk living in isolation in the Middle East. Do you seriously think that these people are plotting? I've heard comments made by country people in Australia. Much more depraved and insidious. It's a language and cultural difference. Perhaps research the subject before going there and making unfounded conclusions. I'd hate to think how the poor in your country would behave if they had a home
Love your videos Yves. Remember also, how differently money is viewed between you and the locals. For us 1-2 thousand is an annoyance to lose, but to them it feeds their clan for 2 years. Even if they are good, its like sticking a steak in front of a lion
I am sorry that you had this happen to you. Those people are struggling and will smile at you but thinking how they can benefit from your visit. The hashish guy was crazy from the beginning.
Don't even apologise or feel guilt, like honestly, you're a tourist and a foreigner who is there to travel and enjoy the place, the way you encountered them and the welcoming they gave you is common amongst most places in the Middle East and Europe, the unfortunate thing is the facade they put on which gave you a false impression that they were truly welcoming. I feel like most of the people in this video were genuine, and I feel like most people watching this video would have also accepted the invitation considering out of guilt, most people don't want to feel insulting to a potential host. Its an experience you'll never forget and whilst it is unfortunate, atleast you are safe and will be more cautious in the future. Really enjoying your videos!

A similar incident happened to me. That's why it's hard to trust people even after they have opened up to you. This was when I was studying in Orléans in 1997. I was an exchange student from America spending a year in France. The foreign students were also taking the same language classes with refugees. I had this classmate who was a Turkish refugee who befriended me. Eventually he earned my trust and was already visiting me at the résidence universitaire. As you know the rooms were divided by a thin wall that separated the area of the bed and the lavabo. One time «Çevki» (that's his name) visited me in my room. At one point I had to go to the lavabo to wash my hands. Unfortunately the drawers «tiroir» were on the other side so I couldn't see what was going on. After Çevki left I realized that my money inside the drawers were gone. I was devastated thinking that Çevki could do such a thing after me and a few other friends have already spent time together in bars and other social activities. I told my American friends what Çevki did. They were supportive of me all the way. They were giving Çevki that treatment where we were letting him know we knew exactly what he did. I even planned to take revenge by going to his house and (stealing, as he did) 😄 something of an equivalent value like a camera or something, but the American group convinced me not to go down his level. This incident happened in November '97 and I ended up leaving by January '98 not completing the whole academic year due to other reasons. That was actually the first time anything was stolen from me and it happened in France perpetrated by my "trusted" Turkish friend. 😠☹️
Indeed, I was probably less cautious because everyone was so nice to me before I met these guys. And yes, the main thing is that I managed to stay physically safe 😊
Indeed, it's not always easy to judge the situation, even though it was obviously risky to stay with them, I got carried away by the filming and the hospitality.
a good lock would be suitable for your bike , as it would be far too much effort to try to steal and would make noise and draw attention to what is obviously a bike theft in progress . they will not want to go through this - lock it to something unmovable

Next time remember to read online articles of dangerous places in countries before you go there. Many foreigners were kidnapped in Lebanon and their families were asked for ransom money especially places outside of Beirut (Beqaa Vallery/South Lebanon).
I've been all over the world and Lebanon is like anywhere good and bad people. I stayed and moved to Baalbek and the amount of rubbish people talk about here is ridiculous... try living in Europe you will know all about crime and theift

you have an amazing channel i dont like the attire of the people - that fast money vibe with balanciaga, watches and phones, sitting around all day - thats what i find suspicious in a country that has some problems with poverty. but i guess they most have some power/respect, as otherwise people would take it from them, so not bad to be friendly with them. but for me its a cultural thing aswell, i have not a good read on people from arabic countries cant cant distinguish when people are really nice or just want something, while in germany if people are too nice i often am more suspicious :)
They seem to be well organized. In minutes you were surrounded and checked out, by all members of the gang. You were very lucky to get away with only being robbed of cash and the damage to your precious bike . Good luck with your next journeys.
These were good people who know more. Next time talk of belief in the rules of hospitality, Heaven was involved. When I was young times were with the respect of the father and the warmth of the mother. The ceder of the Lebanon is where Abraham found of Heaven the black stone of the K'aaba reminding of Ismael and Hagar for future completion till promise fulfillment about the inheritance of the earth. (you passed the guards)
They perfected the art of theft. From the video, I agree that the family was not involved at all. They used their families' good hearts to make you trust them. Toured with you showing you what they had, to get you to a point where you believe they have so much and can't steal. Hope this did not change how you view humans. There are extremely good and extremely bad people all over the world. Be more cautious, but don't lose faith in humanity entirely.
It seems they have a lot of influence in that area, it looks they are organized and some type of hierarchy. Defenetly they have some scheme that gives him some income.
The dude in slim jeans, baseball hat, bikes and a gangster walking style had all the red flags. I'd not trust such a character regardless or how wide he wears his smile.

Hello from Liverpool i just discovered your channel. so sorry this happened to you a similar thing happened to me in India i trusted some guys who tried to Rob from me but i escaped even when i was drunk
Just saw this video now. Its unarguable that they tried to set you up ever since the beginning of the video. These people are gypsies or "nawar". Usually not even the army can come to this part. At the start when they gave upu thisnthing to put on your head and you asked them what is that? Bedouin and they said yes yes. They were making fun of you to make you look like a bedouin. Its good you escaped them somehow without any problem other than robbery..
Mistake no. 1 for most RU-vid travellers is they don't ask local for advice before they travel to the next town or area. They should ask local first before venture out. You are not from the town or city, so you don't know. Even you plan to buy a house in the area you don't know, you're better doing some research first. Otherwise, you might end up in a bad neighborhood and bad school for your children.
Kino I am pretty sure most of those people you encountered are Syrians refugees some of them are well off but they are Syrians. Your money stollen your bike sabotaged my guess delinquent young guys typical behaviors for that region . This could happen even in Europe ( Paris London etc. ) I have seen it in broad daylight in London. In Chicago you would lose the whole bike.
Well i was listening carefully to what they were saying in arabic there were no any mysterious wards all females were good and kind hearted though all males were weird at some point anyways thank god ur ok 👍
@@diaaz5296 care to say what you disagree about as Arabic is a popular language and not something that only you can understand let all Arabic speakers type here
They obviously didn't rob you, some neighbour maybe or someone passing by found your bike and saw the oportunity, thieves are oportunist. They obviously wanted to cut the back part of your bike and take it away with your things rolling with the wheel but somebody appear and they had to run, if it were somebody from the family they wouldn't have to run away and leave the job unfinished. They were an awesome family, and they made a great video for you, is kind of sad that you thought badly of them. When you are in a dangerous area you don't just leave the bike there, you have to take it inside and close the door, believe me I live in a dangerous area. They were definitely not the robbers.
The food of massive distraction was accomplished here. Sleeping for a night with random people in a different country, screw that, even I don't even sleep with weird ass hotels in my country. What more of doing this in abroad with strange people.
I wonder if it was someone else because the bike was hidden but only under a sheet so it could have been anyone. The cutting of the bike rack is very strange though...I cant really explain that, maybe they were trying to remove the rack and got disturbed or something? They don't seem like a poor family and very hospitable and genuine.
They can also do that becouse they though he could live the bike there if was not possible to use it again. Remember that Man has 2 Motorbaike seems he like to fix and use could be that he want that too
Indeed the two bikes seem hidden , even the Suzuki downstair , i was asking myself how the hell they have put the Kawasaki upstairs coz so heavy and why ? They show you weapon , distracted you , all was there in cooking , yes the 2 guys look bad , shame on them and this family they will be 4 ever red listed on RU-vid now , Great job bro , you don't know but maybe it will save some lives that you have exposed them , who knows , when they dance they just express their happiness to steal you soon ...
