The Cat song lives in my head rent free lol, Dons Hollow is SUPERB imo, looking forward to the staging upgrade in Malmo.

As a Latvia my head wanted Dons - Hollow to win but my heart wanted Vestules - Kur to win. Dons' song is very good strong lyrics and flawless vocals but I lack that emotional connection with it whereas Vestules touched my heart so much even though I know it wouldn't probably do well with the Eurovision audience, I still would have been honoured for them to represent us as it felt more of a 'Latvian' entry unlike Hollow, but Hollow is still one of my favourites of the year and I will support him until the end. The staging needs to be improved massively, he can't be so isolated, we need more on the stage definitely, there has to be a televote incentive for people to vote other than just a solid voice and vocal.

Vestules are absolutely wonderful and actually have gained massive audience but I am just afraid they would have the same fate as Sudden Lights last year. Loved sooo much but still didn't grab the final... Anyway some people win the contest and some become legends and similar happened to Sudden Lights

Dons has said that they have plans to change the visuals (more or less) for Malmo, but first they want to know, how much will be possible with the Malmo stage and only then figure out, what and how those changes could work... Maybe others will disagree with me, but I hope that at the start of the song/performance he'll be on his knees for the first few lines to make him look a lot more vulnerable... maybe even extend his hand towards the camera as in "Don't look now"... I mean there's lots that can be done with this song/performance...

Hollow is truly amazing!😆 It should have amazing staging as her staging designer is one danish women who has worked with big artists and in ESC with Dami In and Aminata. Dons is also a part of Universal Music so it has big chances to look fantastic. It will definetely qualify as it is in the weaker semifinal 2nd half.

This is such a quality professional effort from Latvia and it was their only song for me that hit my Green Tier way back on the full release. I do hope this can bring them back to the Final because it would be well deserved👏 This in theory looking at the SF2 currently should stand out just on the basis of its genre/feeling it exudes. They did improve on the staging from the SemiFinal performance at least as it was extremely odd and bright from the start back then, now we just need to elevate even more in Malmo💯 I thought i was safe from ever having to hear that tragic cringe cat song ever again cheers Shane💀🤣

Supernova was REALLY good this year. Lots of good songs, especially the Cat's Song. This will stand out since we have like four ballads and LOADS of pop songs and catchy fun songs. The Balkans are here to slay this year!

I am really happy to have my Saturday afternoon coffee time watching your reaction to Latvia's show ☕ It's possible that we're on the same page since I religiously watch Supernova and the Lithuanian national final that keeps changing titles and formats every other season, anyway since bros usually pick at the same time unfortunately I have to play the game of picking every year. That being said I think it's been a solid three years since I watched Supernova in FULL attention and not watching something else or going back and forth 😅 What I want to say is that Supernova was massively elevated from before as a full experience. I enjoyed the hell out of it and out of ten songs I had the unbelievable four favourites that I loved equally. In this case you heard two out of four 😄 If you ever want to have an additional peak into the crazy diversity Latvia served this year I would suggest you to see Ecto and Aleks Silvers performing. Together with Vestules and Dons they complete my Fantastic Four. Moving onto Dons probably everyone can tell that my typical music taste doesn't scream Hollow (no pun intended 😅), but I am a person of maximum interest in loads of styles and genres. Dons is a fully full package. In my opinion or at least for my taste it's rare to find an artist where you absolutely love everything about them and you're not even sure why. The song, music production, the voice colour and range, the looks, the lights, the background and Dons' wonderful personality and professionalism... I want more artists like that just saying. If one can have such talent, decade or two of experience and being so sweet and so humble I'm bought. Other artists I can think of that give that energy are Alexander Rybak and Konstrakta for reference

Supernova this year was pretty much typical Supernova. A lot of alternative/indie stuff, some 'out there' songs, and not an whole lot of pop songs. I always do appreciate Supernova and what they bring, I never really leave with a lot of songs I am crazy about. I do feel it needs a bit of a makeover as well, just watching the national final, it all kinda feels a bit 'dated' and 'tired'. Vestules were your typical, young indie Latvian duo, we always get something like this, it kinda has similarities to Sudden Lights from last year in a way. It wasn't one that was on my radar, but I can kinda understand why it did well with the Latvian people. I have been waiting for your reaction to 'The Cat's Song' from the first second I heard it 😆 I do genuinely love the song, and it is a real earworm. It can't be denied though, the live performance in the Supernova final was a complete hot mess 🤣 From the others, I would say check out the live performance of 'Tick Tock', the staging of that is very good in my personal opinion, and I do 75% love that song, there is just a 25% that I really dislike that pulls it down. And I would say check of 'For The Show' too, because that for me had the strongest overall package of the evening in terms of song, performance, vocal and staging. Dons was my favourite from first listen, and was the clear standout of the lot when it comes to the actual song. He does indeed have a very strong vocal, but for me there is a real issue with staging and connection with the camera and audience, like you point out here, something isn't working, and that is a bit of a worry. He did perform in the Lithuanian final at the weekend, and I felt that was a stronger performance, so that is a good sign. But I just don't have high expectations based on recent history, of Latvia pulling out great staging, I just feel he is gonna be chucked on stage and just left by himself, with nothing else going on, and I am not sure that is gonna be enough by itself. I also kinda worry that now we know Belgium's song, that may take all the male ballad votes for themselves. I also have an issue with the end, it just kinda fizzles out, and that for me is the worst way the end a song. Yeah, a lot of people have commented that they would rather he goes with the Latvian version, I haven't listened to it, but would probably support that idea as I always like seeing national languages at Eurovision.

I really love the song. All they need to do is improve the staging and I think that they are back in the final and it will be a massive jury favourite im sure. It was my winner until Belgiums song was released so now its my 2nd place.

The Supernova stage setting is weird. Of course the stage is so much smaller with much less possibilities but it had no audience (it was like a studio) and he was signing to a wall.😅So in big stage it will definetely look very good! It should qualify!

Happy Eurovision Saturday Shane! 💖😊 We'll see if this comment gets posted. I hope you read the conversation with Stefi in the Sanremo video and and then know that I have big problems with commenting with this account. The first time I heard Dons song it didn't give me much, but after a few listens I can appreciate some things about it. It feels genuine, text-wise, it's dark and a bit suggestive. It has a certain power and intensity, he feels present, straight and sings well. BUT! It doesn't lift for me. After the first chorus, I would have liked the song to continue to expand more and more in, for example, a crescendo - instead of repeating the exact same melodic verse + chorus with a slight element of choir at the end and stop. It feels like the song didn't really have time to develop and was over before it could give that little extra. I agree that the staging could be developed. It's good, but unfortunately not enough for me. I wish them good luck! 🌺 Have a nice evening! 😊💖

It’s grown on me a lot. With epic staging, it could be quite a moment. Sometimes the super clear enunciation and the shallow/hallow close but no cigar rhyming brings me out of the song, so I agree Latvian would have been my choice. But I think it’s quite a good effort!

Ok, so this one was dificult for me because my son in law is Latvian and I honestly wasn't wowed by any of the songs on this final 🙃. But after he convinced me to watch the live show, for me it was between Alekks Silvers and "for the show" => wasn't a big fan of the studio version but live it was really cool, or Saint Levica's "tick tock" => weird but I liked it. About Dons' Hollow, I know Latvia likes to send original, artistic, musically good songs where authenticity is very important and I apreciate that. He has great vocals, the song is nice and the production is obviously good. But it's one of many in my opinion and I don't get the hype, don't see it going very far either. I also prefer the song in Latvian.

Some people still enjoy a normal radio friendly song. While it seems that Eurovision is working it's way towards a goofy Tik tok trend song. Something very in your face but short lived and hardly classic. That's the clash of 2 camps you saw last year between Sweden and Finland. Kaarija had lots of hype and it was colourful in every way possible but ultimately Tattoo has had a more successful continuity. Saw that they are using it as a theme tune for a sports championship last week. Still played on the radio and spotify.

Kur? was the only performance from Supernova I loved. Though I know a number of people in the community really hate the song. So maybe it was all the best Latvia went with Dons. Latvia does have a chance at qualifying thanks to their draw, but they need to put in more work. Don's semi performance wasn't so great, very beige, so at least we know that he can improve by the time Eurovision comes around. The song, not for me, but I'm rooting for Latvia to qualify.

I’m completely with you on the verses vs. the chorus. The verse melody is alluring but then the chorus comes in and sounds very dated, reminiscent of Hozier or Imagine Dragons circa 2013. I didn’t love that kind of music 11 years ago and I like it even less now. I wish Dons and Latvia the best but I just can’t get excited for this.
