Nam Heong and Funny Mountain is normal by Ipoh standard. They have been around for at least 40 years. Good for tourist to benchmark what to expect for Ipoh food.
I tend to agree with you. As a frequent visitor/ local, I am sure there are places that you all would find better than the tourist brands. I supposed such places are pretty disperse/ require the use of transport. Some I think are the "best kept secrets".... I guess for tourists like me with limited time, I am already contend with the tourist household names.
ipoh boy here. for me 35 years living here no shop can beat this two. the nam heong coffee shop owner son or son in law is one of the founders for old town white coffee franchise brand.
