Remember that Poland had two very tough opponents in QF and SF and played two long and difficult five-set matches against USA and Brazil. This had an impact on the team and it was visible in the final. Obviously, Italy deserves the win, they were simply better on that day.

Unfortunately our country is too football-centric to see the astonishing achievements across all volleyball national teams. This year we have already won 10 titles.

Yes, he's amazing. He did the same during the european championship, when the team is not doing good, he doesn't reprimand but offers encouragement to the players and calms them. That's good coaching instead of shouting at the players, like I've seen many times during timeouts.

You're right he is, yesterday he proved it to me during a timeout: Michieletto was underperforming, so during the timeout he said "Sorry coach, today I'm bad", and De Giorgi replied calmly "no you're not bad, just remember that you have many more aces up your sleeves". This was during the second set I think, after that Michieletto scored many points and played much better

@dm78 He improved so much. When he was a Polish national team coach he was very harsh to players and it was the worst coach in Polish last 15 years. He learned from his mistakes and won 2 golds within 1 year with that young team.

Romanò at the time of the European championships was in reserve role in his club team and almost never played (and not even now he is a key player), De Giorgi took him and made him key player since the second half of the championship, but also others, Lavia, Pinali, did not play much in their teams.

While Poland faced Tunisia and the United States, Italy faced cuba and the olympic champions of France. Moreover, unlike Poland, Italy had to face an away match because they played in Ljubljana up to the quarterfinals. Moreover, Italy won in front of 13 thousand Polish spectators. The Italian team has shown all its strength and all its character despite the numerous advantages that the Poles have had throughout the tournament

An additional advantage that the Poles have had is that on Saturday the Italians played in the evening while the Poles played earlier in the afternoon. This allowed the Poles to have more recovery time. There is still another: why the prize for best hitter went to the Pole and not to Lavia? Statistically the best spikers are Lavia and immediately after Leal. Based on the percentages, the Pole finished fourth. I'll tell you why: the world championship was held in katowice

So was yours, you had to beat Olympics champions and World champions 😉 By the way Giannelli is a genius and master of setting. I love watching his performance. And he is still such a young guy. I think he'II become a real legend. Obviously he's a setter number one in the world now

They could have avoided more the continuous whistling at every Italian player during the whole match. For like 1.30. Still it is true that at least at the end good sportmanship was shown :)

@@Lightsephiroth This is precisely why I like volleyball more than football: actually there is more respect. And when Poland won against us (IT) in Italy, the attitude of the Italian crowd was completely different. You cannot really rely on these tricks to win a championship.

they should be fine, Poland has been meddaling in world championship since 2006, italys last medal was in 1998.

Being hosts really is unfortunate, Italy lost VNL 2022 played in Bologna and Poland lost WCH played in Katowice 😅

Vnl is not a great indicator and it was a different team..By the way i still don't get it how a nation that won the european championship can be defined as "underdogs"... always do it with Italy...It's just madness for me. But please keep doing it, it's just and advantage for Italy.

@@Cosmopavone Being an underdog is not a bad thing. It's winning despite the odds. Italy is the youngest team and only Giannelli and Anzani has played a World Championship before. Italy has the same line-up as we've seen in the VNL. (Oggettivamente, nessuno si sarebbe mai aspettato questo risultato un mese fa).

An underdog team is a team that wins it all even if they had zero chance of winning on paper. That's far from being the case of Italy. Italy's volley scene has proven that right now is the best in the world, male, female, under teams, that tells a situation that cannot be ignored, it means the the infrastructure and the coaching is far beyond the level of the other nations and that is even more important than the individual strenght of the members of the teams. And let's not forget that those players play in the top domestic league of the world.

Tipo: pode sacar viagem mas não pode aterrissar dentro da quadra. O cara saca e já tá praticamente na linha dos 3 metros. Sei que o saque viagem é maravilhoso. Então vai continuar sacando fortemente.

i like when they cheer their team team but i dislike when they whistle/boo (this is one reason why i prefer volleyball over football) the italian team anyway in the end they had a good spormanship they didn't leave the stadium but they stayed and celebrated everyone
