After the events of 1994, Rwanda started from year ZERO. It was a completely destroyed country both physically and morally. The success of Rwanda since then is large in part due to President Kagame's policies.
Very true. But we must also not make our laws flexible enough to sure that a president can serve morethan two terms, take Obama for example, who served only two terms and no more. Most of our African president abuse the system when they stay in power for decades. I know Kgama is doing great job in building the nation but I do wonder if the human rights issue exists in Rwanda.
Carry on Rwandans. You are on the right track. We know where you have been and we felt your pain during those trying moments. You can be sure you are doing something right whenever this noisy, babbling, and irritating journalist comes knocking. He doesnt even have the decorum to allow the lady to answer questions. How crude can a man be? Those Human Rights activists chose to lie low when Rwandans needed them most. Let them continue lying low like envelops, now that you dont even need them. But do not for a single moment shift gears to please these noisy busy bodies.
Shamelessly defended, even bragged of the cold blooded executions of the opponents. Condemning the brutal dictator in Rwanda doesn't mean condemning Rwanda and make one deserve murder. Kagame is a brutal dictator who has the blood of millions in his hands from the Congo Wars. He is even complicit in the Rwanda genocide. Tutsi refugees were to return in agreement, but he destroyed it by invading Rwanda. All he tried is getting power, not stopping genocide.
thank you. that host quoted something about dogs. he directly translated it into English. that statement in kinyarwanda is a different statement. i think these 2 heroes of our country should not be subjected to such pettiness of these cable networks. its not a gang, its a government. why did the human watch dogs leave while a million people were being killed? we all know without these fake reports they would be wanking off somewhere. let them shove their reports in their rectums.
how, almost every al jazeera report on africa is positive, the outlet has no bias when it comes to africa, but sure they are biased when it comes to western nations because they are owned by qatar.
marie-noelle Anderson no need to apologise, he’s very obnoxious. He’s known for this in other political debates that he has hosted. He imposes his own views into an argument over playing the objective role.
This reporter tried his best to antagonize her but he could not throw her off. He tried but he failed. It did not work. 😅😅😅. He should have known his dealing with a intelligent woman.
Anfortnaly mushikiwabo haven't responded nothing on the karegeya's death celebration of her gouvernment, they are killers , they celibrate the death of unacused man !!
Totally pathetic journalist the woman held her own and then some. He clearly couldn't carry out his narrative of progranada western brain wash campaign
@@kagerukamilleire1023 what you mean, Kagame liberated our people. He got voted in again because when u have a great leader why would u need to change him! If something is not broken, why try fix what doesn't exist as a problem.
What a funny question, "...success story or authoritarian state?". You're making the mistake of assuming that success as a nation and authoritarianism are mutually-exclusive. There's plenty of examples of countries that are authoritarian and successful (ie. Singapore, China) and countries that are democratic and failing (ie. countries in South and Central America). Success and failure of a nation, I believe, have less to do with democracy or authoritarianism but rather whether a nation, a people, have the right "stuff", the right culture to succeed.
I do agree they are not mutually exclusive but in terms of rates of success between democracies authoritarian states tends that democracies are usually much more successful.
I agree... we have democracy being practiced in majority of countries in every continent. The title of this video is very biased. Let us not forget that political systems has been changing throughout time. In fact democracy might hold for long... there is a lot of vote buying going around the world.
Mike M that true and you can be rude when you know what you are talking about, this Young man doesn't know anything about Rwanda and try to behave like a big man
She is right. I have been to Rwanda 4 times in the past 5 years and have never seen anything to support these accusations. What is consistently lacking in all of these allegations is proof, which is strange given how easy it is nowadays with video phone devices and what not. Begrudgers who criticize Rwanda should get a life. The people of Rwanda are perfectly happy with their government and that is what matters. The BBC documentary was the shoddiest piece of revisionism I have ever seen and I no longer watch the BBC because of it. Over 98% of voters opted to have the good President run for another term in a referendum with an enormous turnout (close to 100%).
Basically you're saying there's nothing to support the accusations because you've only been here a couple of times, but the minister herself isn't denying any of it, she's just saying it's the way Rwanda chose to do things. I was born and grew up in Rwanda(still there) and trust me there is nothing more accurate than those reports of human rights organizations.
@@chanceishimwe285 I feel sorry for you, you believe everything the western media say, I live in Rwanda, and I assure you that all these criticisms of the West that this journalist is talking about are bullshit sees that he has never been to Rwanda in his life
@@sterdezy1569 I think if Africa want to free itself, it must start telling its own story. He who tells the tale can't tell a lie because that's the only version there is.
Ollie Linda chill. That would create a power vacuum, everyone loses if a power vacuum gets created. How do you think Al-Qaeda got created, how do you think ISIS got created? Not worth it my friend. Forgive.
This so called “journalist” has no class, he comes across extremely arrogant. He constantly interrupts the guest and does not allow the guest to answer a single question. Extremely Bad taste 🤢
Aljazira and you the Journalist do you own bussiness! Clear your middle east of all the corruption and inhumanity! I'm not from Rwanda but I BELIEVE IN RWANDA AND ITS LEADERSHIP !!! RWANDA IS EXAMPLE TO NOT ONLY AFRICA BUT THE WHOLE WORLD !!! MUCH LOVE RWANDA AND GOD BLESS YOUR COUNTRY INFINITELY!! ALL THE WAY FROM ERITREA 😍😍😍😍
This guy does not let her answer, nor does he listen to her point of view. Gets very agitated in his interruptions, too. Bad interview, feels more like an interrogation. She stood her ground well. Love to Rwanda, from Brazil!
The comment section shows why Africa will never really develop truly because they are still insecure about confronting their flaws. Corruption and authoritarian leaders worshipped because they built toilets and hospitals.
I was really proud and please when she said what's wrong of staying in office? She thinks what is matter is what people do in office. And not just about democracy coming and going but what you can do positively 😍😍😍😍
This reporter is ridiculous, Rwanda is mirroring Singapore's history and surprise surprise, it is working very well for them. And these humanitarian groups aren't always benign entities given Rwanda's history. Not only that, but censorship isn't always a bad thing given certain geopolitical situations, Rwanda has a unique situation, the censorship model isn't a bad idea there. Also Louise Mushikiwabo was super professional in keeping firm that these policies Rwanda has are not applicable to other nations, but they are best for Rwanda, and looking at what Rwanda has been doing over the years, the rapid rise in GDP and rapid rate of foreign investment that has been bringing the country towards the forefront of African economic development. The numbers don't lie, Censorship and journalistic freedom are important issues, but right now Rwanda is handling itself perfectly. Impressionable minds that can be swayed to anti-productive ideals (like what happened with the Genocide) is a touchy subject. It is perfectly understandable to see Rwanda's path right now, and yes it should be on its own page because there are few countries on this planet that had such unique circumstances as Rwanda. Imagine having a genocide and then forcing the two groups that were in conflict to live next to each other in the same neighborhoods and just let bygones be bygones when half their family was killed by their next door neighbors. It is incredible how Rwanda has been handling that situation while catalyzing such economic growth.
Take him to Nigeria then. Maybe you can stop you from being very lound, stilling banks all over the world,. However he may stop you from drinking paper soup ,and you will not question abt it even though it just a soup.
This journalist’s questioning is very irritating. Why don’t you talk about European countries that mistreat Africans in their countries? This superiority complex of Western countries over Africa irks me.
I've never heard someone who probably likes the sound of his voice more than this journalist😂😂. He looked like he wanted to fight instead, while the interviewee held her grace and class. 👏👏
I do not even know what you are mentioning when you say we asked for your assistance and you came, how many "white saviours" did you see in the RPF troops??It is the Children of Rwanda that liberated their own country and not the condescending westerners. how nice of you to hope my past did not destroy my future!!i am seriously laughing at this point. You should come and see by youself what future we are making for ourselves instead of bragging on how the westerners are better than Africans behind your screen.
Welcome's House I get this 100%. But again every country has its own story. There is no single solution for everyone, what works for Nigeria might not work for us. Rwandans as a people have learned from our mistakes and to be honest, opinions from westerners don't matter to us. This works for us. The results shows.
Rwanda has a unique history on this planet earth, the Rwandan leadership should be unique as well, no one loves Rwandan and no one would fight for Rwandan Human rights than people who opted to lose their lives for saving the lives of Rwandans.
What I saw is this first: this journalist is too impolite. this is not conversation but an interrogation. Anyway, congratulations Mrs Louise Mushikiwabo you're very wise and too much a genius 👌
This Mahdi Hassan is a disgrace to journalism. If you ask questions you got to allow the interviewee to answer. This guy was too condescending. The question he asked about about the aids, the way he put it, was an insult, an affront to any nation in the world that has ever received aid. That was simply disgusting. The fact that he did not let her place a response made it worse!! 4:43 according to him if you receive any aid, you ought to be ordered around by the aid giver!? 🤮
Human rights groups never care about the everyday life of Rwanda, they have no right to comment on and or judge the people of Rwanda The interviewer seemed to have a different agenda, instead of letting the person who is interviewed express and answer the questions, he put words into the person being interviewed. He should just speak up for himself rather than doing an interview, what a waste of time for the foreign minister of Rwanda
She is well spoken and he tried hard to throw shade with rumors and speculations. He is over reaching. Not real reporting. “Aid is not charity” was the best reply. I notice how countries who receive aid are looked down upon.
I wish my country , Haiti, had a president with Kagame’s vision. I do really believe that Third world countries need a group of men with a progressive, honest vision to put the country on track.
Rwanda is the safest cleanest most forward thinking country in Africa. The late President of Singapore was in power for decades, turning his country completely around. The government cares about their people, givng people free healthcare and education. America has homeless people dedicating on the streets in every city. The US kills black people through their police, locking them up in jails, making them work in prisons for corporations for free. America is the most racist country on earth, their opinion on human rights when they have Latin American children in detention camps locked in cages means NOTHING! Paul Kagame had saved Rwanda however their tactics may not please the wicked colonial racist hypocritical West, who cares.
Gongman lamp that is subjective journalists should interrogate government officials to keep them in check. In this instance the joumalist is doing his job not to sing praises where it is not warranted
By the way, in the end it is our story not his, we Rwandans are okay with our choice and the direction we chose to follow. Criticism will bounce and we won't lose the sight we are determined and that's why she could not be terrified by nonsense unorganized statements. Only Rwandans know Rwandan context and are responsible to lay out it concepts. Others will either support us or criticise. We are ready for any of them, it can be horrible if one of us come against himself.
The idea that democracy is all about changing president is NONSENSE NONSENSE If a president wants to be in power for life there's NOTHING wrong with that the question should be in WHAT THEY DOING while in office.
These reporters love to talk over who they are speaking to. Paul Kegamo told one of them in a interview he will have to do the interview by himself if he doesn't want to listen also Malima told one of them d same thing.
The BBC refused to defend herself in Rwanda...yes.. Why did the BBC not investigate the murderer affairs of the Malebele tribal people in Zimbabwe? And you asking the woman should visit your Arab countries where slavery is still active.
I hear authoritarian!!! You only hear that when an African country makes progress that worries former masters!!! When Dubai is developing then that's good policy applied.... Get out of Africans business it doesn't concern you... We tired of you.... BBC is for Britain it doesn't concern us. We fought for our rights from the same people who oppressed us, before they created Human rights Organizations, so such groups are guilty of abusing human rights, so us who fought for our rights no one will teach us of human rights... We fought colonisers they cnt teach or lecture us about human rights.
Other country will try to down grade or down play any improvment that any other nations especially black countries like Africa when it doesn't benefits there agenda. A voilent destable Africa will benefit the other countries agenda. Keep doing your job president of Rwanda. All African countries need to unite and follow the Rwanda model and one day we will be the United States of Africa and the economic power House of the world.Africans home and abroad please bank and invest in Africa. Africa is made up of over 60 percent of young people. Young people are the future so in other words Africa is the future. I love Mama Africa will be back soon. Love coming straight from Jamaica. One love, one Africa.
Well done Rwanda FM Ms Louise. Hope you never follow journalist view or criticism using Human Rights agenda. No one fulfil 100% people desire. Government of Rwanda hope to follow the Japanese industrial model in progressing forward as Malaysian leaders did. We wish to see Rwanda one of the top African industrial country soon. Thank you.
Rwanda is booming economically and the citizens well looked after. The President knows how to lead his own people, western ideology, phylosophy can't help Rwanda at all.Respect the good job,President is doing.
Rwanda is not the only country in the world that did not choose the path of a western democracy. There is nothing wrong with that. Western democracy does not work for every country.
This lady is an excellent politician ! She is well trained, unflappable and never gets to the point of any of the specific questions. She would be well placed, to act for any government in any country, for any regime, politics or political acts.
