Wat Phah Laht (วัดผาลาด), i.e. ‘Cliff Slope Temple’ or ‘Monastery at the Sloping Rock’ is the name for a ca. 500 year old Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่), built on a forested mountain slope, adjacent to a small waterfall. Formerly, this spot was a resting place for people walking up to worship the reliquary at mountain top monastery of Wat Doi Suthep (วัดดอยสุเทพ). When Kruh Bah Sri Wichai (ครูบาศรีวิชัย) from 1934 to 1935 built the road up Doi Suthep (ดอยสุเทพ), the local workers for their input are said to have reached the third stage of spiritual development, known as anagami, the last stage before becoming an arahan, which is the final stage before reaching buddhahood. The place later developed into a dwelling place for monks and was named Wat Sagitaka (วัดสกิทาคา), sometimes referred to as Wat Sagitakami (วัดสกิทาคามี), after the second stage of the four stages of Enlightenment in Buddhism, known as sakadagami (สกิทาคามี).
