The tiger and buffalo goes back to when Queen lizy from England visited Samoa in the 60s and before this Dance group performed the sāsā (slap dance) normally the leader of the group will do the hype callings such as hei hei Ho and the pati a etc but this particular leader thought to honour Queen Lizzy and her Husband by saying tagi mai le tiger meaning sound the roar of a tiger and like wise with buffalo.. All the Samoan were laughing like they all do in a banter mocking way and it has been that way ever since.. My grandma told me this story as she was part of the group so dont shoot the messenger 😅😂
