🌀INCREDIBLE!! Epic Awesome NEW Voigtlander lens! 40mm f1.2 NOKTON 🌀 

Just came across this video even though I have seen some of your other videos, well it's now the end of 2023 and the lens is made for Nikon Z mount and I just ordered one to go on a Nikon ZF, looking forward to this one.

Admissions: I bought all 4 Voigtlander/Nikon mounts from the excellent Mr Gandy after watching your videos. Had to let the 20mm go recently, would be sad to part with the 28, less sad (and next up) the 40, and only in extremis the 58. I enjoy all your stuff (almost all....). But the pieces I find utterly compelling and practical overall have been some of your "best value" contributions, which seemed to dry up a bit recently. I know you have said it all already, but I would guess that many current viewers didn't see those. And of course the landscape changes year to year. I'd love to see some refreshes of that content. Anyone else? Thanks as always for your clear unbiased work.

I never comment on anything, but this bloke is right - I have the e-mount version and it’s the dog’s bollocks. A masterpiece. The one I’d grab to save in the event of a fire.

So, would you say this lens is good.

@TheoriaApophasis real question sir... If you HAD to pick one over the other. Voigtlander 40mm 1.2 or Voigtlander 50mm 1.2?? I know you HIGHLY praised the 40mm, but also said the 50mm 1.2 is the BEST 50mm?

The full frame manual voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 will be available for e-mount too. It will offer auto focus magnification, aperture reporting, compatible with the inside stabilization and full exif tag for later auto lens correction with Lightroom.

Have you ever used speedbooster to adapt these top Voigtlander lenses to Fuji x? How do they behave, is ca or sharpness effected?

Yup I'm one of those people who have bought the 58mm Nokton off of your recommendation, One of the first photos I took with it was of my dog laying on the bed which is now at 20x16 in my living room for my parents (it was a christmas gift) that lens just blows you away. Also after watching your video talking about the 40mm f/2 Ultron the remade version. I also bought that as well. Which is just as mind blowing. The only other Voigtlander lens I own is the Leica M mount 35mm f/2.5 which is basically permently attached to my Fuji X-pro 1. :D

Sounds like a lovely lens. Would you be up for redoing your "all Voigtlanders" piece and setting the newer ones alongside the slightly older ones? I would enjoy that. Time constraints I understand, no hurry, but I find those multi-lens comparison reviews are so helpful. And maybe also include a "best-value" element, alternate lenses, for us paupers. Best, John

Is this lens good on GFX?

This IS one of the best lenses I have ever shot with.. It's a ridiculously beautiful lens that makes me happy every time I use it.

60mm full frame equivalent is kind of an odd focal length, no? I think 40mm ff is cool sitting there between 35 and 50, especially for street and other immersed POVs, but I don't find myself pining for 60 that often. Are you digging that angle of view?

I know they’re different lenses but out of Fuji 56mm f1.2, Mitakon 35mm f0.95 and Voitglander 40mm f1.2 for x-pro 2 which renders better?

This lens came out on Sony FE mount first, and impressed a bunch of people. And then when it arrived with Leica M mount, again many Sony people bought it again to use it with LM-EA7 and get autofocus. It's that good.

I owned the 80mm macro for a little bit, and CHYEAH it’s a gem.

I bought this lens and rayqual adapter for my Fuji X Pro2. You are correct. This is an amazing lens. I have been making some amazing B&W photos with the Acros filim simulation. The contrast is amazing. I don't typically pixel peep, but I will spend several minutes pouring over the image on the screen in amazement. When I use this combination in bright sunlit conditions though, I notice that the image through the EVF is so dim that I can't see/use the focus peaking. Have you experienced this? Thanks for the great vids.

Indeed, as soon as you go 1.4, bye bye rounded "bolas", I got the 7 artisan 50 mm 1.1 (yes, sorry for that) and isn't sharp, corner, bla bla bla,...but....from 1.2 and up always keep rounded bolas. The question is, the 50 mm 1.2, work in the same manner? or keep the bokeh constantly rounded? Please a test about that.

Ken bought that Voigtländer 58 mm for portraiture on your recommendation. I think it’s better than the Fuji 56. The color and rendition is outstanding. Great buy for the money. Always watch your videos first thing in the morning, with ny coffee. You always speak so highly of the Voigtlander lenses and it gets somewhat confusing as time goes on with all your different takes on all those lenses. This lens was on my list of lenses to get. I'm so glad to hear it's awesome and thanks for the review! btw, Handevision has a 40mm f0.85. So it's not the fastest 40mm. :) But, those Handevision lenses are a 6.5/10 on construction.

This is a little off the wall, but I recently had an opportunity to shoot the Canon 50 mm F1/2 R lens on the Canon R mirrorless camera. As someome who has been shooting fast 50'S for 40 years-this one rocked me. You shoould check it out if you have an opportunity.

Looks lovely but damn it's pretty expensive at £750 here in the UK. I get the feeling it's perhaps worth every penny however 😊

QUESTION 1: How are they able to make a 40mm 1.2 this tiny compared to Sony's 50mm 1.4 G series lens - which is huge?! Is it because of the autofocus system? I mean this thing is beautiful. QUESTION 2: Do you think there's a big difference in image quality between getting the 40mm E mount version, or waiting to get the 50mm version which would require an adapter to e-mount?
