Hi Everyone, We hope you enjoyed our video! Which small off-road camper did you like? Please say hello by leaving a comment below! Also, please feel free to ask any questions or just tell us about yourselves. We want to get to know you and share our RV experiences.
I love em all... they give me so many ideas.. I'm considering getting a toaster oven that's mounted under a cabinet to save space. Thank you for another great and honest video!!
Of these three I liked the ember and the lack of wasted space of a dinette. The couch table setup looks more efficient. Plus the bathroom setup was nice.
Always love your videos, thank you. We purchased a Rove lite this spring and have used it quite a few times. I agree with the one comment that it is not really ‘off road’ capable. It sits very low and has minimal clearance over rocks and roots. Having said that we take it ‘off grid’ almost exclusively. So far up north we are on logging roads to get anywhere and it is terrific. We made some significant modifications : 1. We changed the table leg for a lagun leg, thus making for easy access into the dinette seats and giving more leg room underneath. 2. We took out the ac because you cannot run it without 110 power and we are almost always off grid. The extra storage is nice. 3. Upgraded the electrical and added in solar. 4. Ours does not have a fireplace ( ours has a cabinet there) but if it had come with a fireplace we would have taken it out….the camper is so small the propane furnace heats it in no time and the storage is way move valuable than a fireplace in my opinion. 5. Added a pull out drawer under the first dinette seat and added shelves in the cabinets to maximize space. Our camper also came with a 2 burner gas cooktop not the induction which is great. Overall, we love this little camper. My husband, myself and our 2 dogs all sleep in the bed- cozy…yes it is👱🏼♂️👩🏻🦰🐕🦺🦮😂.
Thanks so much for sharing all your Rove mods!!! I love that you turned it into a rig that fits your needs! Are you a part of our Facebook group - RV Camping For Newbies. They would love to see your modifications. Thanks for watching and commenting. Mike and Susan
I like the set up of the Ember best, it seems like they made the best use of space. How many times has Mike got his tape measure stuck? The look on his face when it happens is priceless. Thanks for the tour guys, take care.
Hi Mike, I LOVE your videos! My husband and I have been looking at the Black Series and the Embers. We have seen year old Black Series and their interiors didn’t seem to hold up. We absolutely love the Embers!!! Their exoskeletons and composite flooring beat the Black Series by a mile!!! In addition the Black series you showed doesn’t make sense for seating space for 5 -even though it sleeps five. Murphy beds are great use of space in small trailers!!! The Ember has a spectacular bathroom for its size!
Hey Dave & Donna Great points!!! We appreciate the love and support! Best of luck on your search! :) Thanks for watching and commenting! ❤ Mike and Susan
@@RVBlogger I always enjoy watching your videos. I know I'm in the minority here, but I wish that entertainment centers were an option that can be added rather than a standard feature that one has to pay for in most camper trailers. When I go camping, it isn't to watch television and play video games. A secure, comfortable place to sleep and get out of the weather when needed is the most basic thing I require. For entertainment in bad weather, there's books and a cribbage board.
I love the Ember Trailers. They now have double axle models now. Also, they have a new modular system that can make the bunk area more versatile. Have a look if you haven't seen it yet.
Seems like the issue with those Murphy beds is when you upgrade the mattress it will be too thick to fold back up. Cause we all know how bad the factory provided mattresses are.
The prior owners of my camper gave me their 4” mattress pad for the Murphy bed and it makes the bed as comfortable as my bed at home and I can still close the bed. I love my Murphy bed!
@@RVBlogger you should do consultation to help ppl like me get the perfect RV I’m a travel nurse and looking for something under 1/2 ton and outside kitchen with double axle 22-25 feet boondockable 100% I know by watching your presentations Illinois find it.
Hey Theresa We appreciate the love and support!!! Standing to shower is definitely more comfortable for me 😂 Thanks for watching and commenting! ❤ Mike and Susan
I'm diggin' that last one aaaalot. Not fond of the shower head set-up but that can be swapped out for something different. I also like the idea of dual axles.
Given the huge growth in solo camping, is any manufacturer ever going to look at how solo campers are setting up their spaces and taking cues from them? We don't need dinettes, large kitchens, bunk beds, couches, etc. These would be incredibly popular if a) the price came down a bit and b) we didn't have to rip out half of it to gain some floor space. Seating for one (the Travel Lite without the chair nearest the door is great!), a nice bed, a sink, one- or two-burners is fine. Skip the TV; most of us use our laptops. It's just so frustrating to see them get so close but know I'm going to pay a premium for stuff I'm just going to tear out and throw away. I suppose until then, we'll just keep tricking out vans and trucks ourselves, even if they don't give us all the space we wish we could have while traveling all over.
Hey Jessa, Those are great ideas and points! Hopefully manufacturers will listen to people about what they're looking for in a camper! :) Thanks for watching and commenting! ❤ Mike and Susan
Definitely three different options there. I'm very excited with the Rove because I could actually pull it with my small SUV that has a 3500 lb towing capacity. It's really hard to find a trailer with a bathroom within my towing parameters so this would be a good option for me and since I would likely be a solo traveler it should be enough space for myself and the dogs. I think if I sleep on the dinette the dogs will have plenty of room up on the bed. LOL. If money and tow capacity was not an object, I would probably pick the Ember. They are a newer brand but have been very well received. Although I don't need the bunks for sleeping capacity, I love the idea of the cargo door in the rear and the ability of the bottom bunk to fold up. Being disabled, I could put my power scooter, wheelchair and collapsible dog crates in that area. I think the cargo door on the back is just such a smart idea! Although I like the idea of having the portable tables to use as a dinette, I would prefer freestanding tables as opposed to the clip-on types that they offer. I think it would be great to be able to just take your table outside and use it especially if you tend to to do most of your cooking outside it would be useful even if you weren't using them as dining tables you could use them as space to hold your food as a buffet type setup if you had a group in. I have heard that the Ember mattresses are a bit better quality than what we typically see but at some point you are going to have to commit to using an RV specific mattress if you need to replace the mattress when the time comes. I agree that the bathroom in the Ember is very nice. Being disabled, I am used to sitting down to shower so the wet bath setups in any of these don't bother me. However in the Black series I really do not like the fact that the shower hose length is so short. I think that was a really big miss on their part! I have seen a teardrop trailer that used the lavatory faucet as a shower head. It had a nice long pull out hose and even had a clip on the wall where you could hang up the shower nozzle and hose so it functioned like a more traditional shower head. I do see your point about the interior curtains on many of the wet baths, Mike. I'm sure they are a real pain in the neck but if it is your only option for a shower I can definitely make it work! LThose Black series I'm sure are very well built but they are very pricey. The Ember is no slouch on their asking price either but again I heard their quality is quite good. The Rove is definitely most affordable but is also the smallest. I agree with your point about the great amount of counter space. You could easily bring along a microwave as you suggested or another type of appliance like a crock pot or instant pot to do your cooking if you needed to inside. Thanks for another great video, Mike and Susan. Three very different options that would get you off-road if you wanted to go!
I'm 5"2, full time truck camper-er, honestly the one thing I truly miss is a couch to plop down on! Hoping to turn the dinette into a couch and the bed area into a sort of living space (stretching, bookshelves, crafting area), . The outdoors are my "living space" but I also live in New England, lol.
I always enjoy your videos. On this one I wouldn't consider the rove lite to be off road. It's a great little camper but not built for any sort of off road activity.
Susan, Mike… we finally went camping this week with our Luna Rover “A Casinha”!!!! What a great experience! I can’t say enough thanks to you both for all the tips and wisdom you share with us. Cheers! 🥰🧡🏕
The first unit having a fireplace means it doesn't have a furness. 5200 BTU will not be enough for cold climates and it won't work when you have no electricity. The fireplace draws 1500 watts, the batteries will not handle it.
With our mobility issues, sitting is a great option for the shower in the first RV. Don was in the military and says, "Why stand when you can sit? Why sit when you can lay down?"
We have a Jayco Jayflight 195 RBW - Baja, built in Idaho. Axle is flipped, tires are light truck tires. Huge ground clearance. Haul it behind a Subaru Outback Onyx XT, so plenty of power. Excellent off-roader. Currently 400 watts solar into 200 ah lithium batteries, and a 3000 watt inverter.
The fireplace would replace the portable space heater that I had to buy. It would be certainly awesome! I often at times use my fireplace space heater as a night light. I love it but if it was built in, it would be truly phenomenal!!
Cute camper. I haven’t seen too many campers with the dinette on the door side. Though our old one was like that. There’s definitely plenty of room for a microwave!!! We usually cook with a microwave or over a fire. That wet bath it a bit too small.
I have a fantastic RV for weekends and short time travel, ( sunset 16) not so much for full time. I just wish I knew before I bought it, as I am a full time travel nurse.
They discount all models pretty low but they really hope to not have to return them to the dealership. So most can get a pretty good deal. Thanks for your continued support!
Never will I buy an rv or camper with a wet bath. Same for lack of convection microwave. Solar also a bit g must A more powerful the better. Auto levelers a must since I’m almost 80z those snap pads sound great.
Hey Roger, We recommend checking out the manufacturer's website for anything we didn't cover in the video to assure you get the most accurate info :) Thanks for watching and commenting! ❤ Mike and Susan
I don't understand- the couch converts to a bed, but then you drop down the Murphy bed over it to make a bed? All that complexity and weight. Why not just stick a futon in there and call it a day? Obviously it wouldn't be a regular size futon, but it definitely could accommodate a thicker mattress.
First one to me has a non-functioning bathroom. If you cannot even stand up straight in that bathroom with you 5' 10"- 5' 11" then there is no reason for me to even try at 6' 3".
Hey Margaret We recommend checking out the manufacturer's website for anything we didn't cover in the video to assure you get the most accurate info :) Thanks for watching and commenting! ❤ Mike and Susan
Power can be provided by house battery (though not much), generator or solar along with lithium batteries. You would have to fill your water holding tank with potable water that can be used for drinking, showering etc. Not being connected to water, electric and sewer involves more work and experience to perfect. Thanks for watching and commenting.
On the Ember unit...wouldn't you absolutely cut your bare feet or legs on those couch table brackets? No Thanks!😂 I wonder what they were thinking with that design? The bracket looks extremely sharp. Am I correct here, or are the brackets not as sharp as they appear 🤔
I really can't remember how sharp they are to be honest, but that concept is used quite often in campers without a permanent dinette. Thanks for watching and commenting mrwilly41!
There are several styles of Black Series campers that are all off-road trailers. We just included this one in our review. Here's an awesome one and it has a dry bath vs wet bath and no bunk beds. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T_gBDAje1xw.html 🌟 Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@RVBlogger - We used a neighbors airstream basecamp, worst bathroom experience imaginable. Toured an Oliver, and it felt like a mansion in comparison.
We try to cover the basics of each RV. This gives our audience a little more information as to what is available and then they can research the details. We appreciate you watching.
If you're going off grid, a microwave couldn't be used anyway. I think they are total wastes of space and expense on small campers. Great breadboxes, though...
These campers offer the flexibility to pedestal or off-grid camp. Even off grid it's nice to reheat food in the micro. But not everyone likes the microwave. Thanks for watching our RV tour video and commenting!
That black series seems a haphazard mess in my opinion. And the main bed -- is that permanent? That should concert to a sofa. The whole thing is just poorly designed. And the price! Whew!
Black Series RV is a relatively new manufacturer on the market. I'm sure the have some design flaws that will be corrected in future models. Thanks for watching and commening.
That table set up sucks, sorry to be brutal. On what planet does it make sense to have a flip up table so someone can get to their seat? That would mean someone has no choice but to serve you. I would switch the kitchen and seating back to how it normally goes. You'd have more table space and the same counter space plus a large counter where the seat is. I get your not looking at your campsite but in a trailer that size you don't have options.
