Happy new year! 🎉🎉🎉 You know where you absolutely have to go this year's late spring... Paris transit-a-palooza is kicking up in high gear in the next few months, with 5 extensions on 4 lines, opening all between March and June. After more than a dozen new tram lines opening left and right this last decade and a half, including 2 lines in 2023 (T10 & T12), now comes the big and heavy stuff in 2024, the first of *many* in the next 6 to 8 years. 34 kilometers of new rail lines, about 30 of tunnels, just this spring alone! : > Circular tram line T3b. 3.5km Western extension to Porte Dauphine on the surface, including a major interchange with the Porte Maillot / Neuilly station on RER E. > RER E's 55km Western extension : First phase opening with a 8km long new tunnel under the hyperdense core of Paris and its newer business district, plus 3 major stations, 2 of which are monumental underground cavernous cathedrals with stunning architecture. Plus the service implementation of NExTEO, a centralized remote autopilot in the central trunk that will allow much shorter intervals, akin to what's on RER A but in a new full control version. The very first parts of Grand Paris Express : > M11's 6km, 6 station Eastern extension to Rosny Bois Perrier, a current RER E and future GPE M15 interchange. > M14's 1 station 2.4km Northern and 7 station 14km Southern extensions, respectively to Saint-Denis Pleyel, the main GPE hub, and to Orly airport, another important GPE interchange. Including the inauguration of GPE's main hub and plenty of new trains. And then in 2025 : The opening of Cable C1, the first urban transit "telecabin" (gondola) in the Greater Paris area. It's a 4.5km line with 5 stations, dozens of 10-seat cabins with less than 30 seconds between departures. And the piece de resistance : the opening of M15 South, the first section of the giant underground loop that is line 15. This South section is about 35km long with 16 stations (minus one that should open in 2026 due to its depth). And then almost every year something major will open till 2030-2032, plus of course the complete replacement of all metro trains dating back to before the late 90's, the complete replacement of RER D & E rolling stock (it has already started on line E), and an all new train model for RER B. It's huge, with plenty of footage to shoot! 😅 It's like a Christmas wishlist for transit fans... You'd better come in late spring or for specific openings, as the summer will be crazy with the Olympics. Once again, happy new year, and best wishes for you and the channel for 2024.

Wow haha yeah you certainly can’t complain about the paris transit system. I hope to be able to return in either 2025 or 2026 but I don’t really know exactly when I will be able to next. I hope I can as soon as possible because it really is my favourite city but when I do return I’ll be sure to re-make every Paris video I currently have on the channel plus some more cab rides and special videos. Thanks for the recommendation!

@@Transport_International Yeah, for sure, but most French still complain, just because they're French, it's exhausting! 🤣 There will be so many new stations, tunnels and viaducts... If your next visit is in 2026, you'll have the M15 South (the first of 3 sections) and you may even be able to see the first sections of M16, M17 and M18 ! (The first phases of all 3 are set to open in fall to late 2026). Which means you might have access to at least one part of each of the 4 GPE lines (though a 19th one has been officially proposed recently as a 5th GPE line but it shouldn't start building before 2028 ; plus we're waiting on a decision about the future of OrlyVAL and its possible extension and conversion into yet another metro line, the 20th?). Between now and 2026 there should also be several tram line extensions. The *current* & *firm* expansion plan underway already amounts to a total of 360+ kilometers of new or extended tram, metro, RER, cable and proper busway / bustram BRT lines, not counting M19 nor OrlyVAL conversion & extension as they are not firm yet. It's simply crazy and I'm overly ecstatic like a kid on the eve of a trip to Disney world, literally foaming... 😂 I could send you some footage (4K50 or 60) in the meantime, I plan on being there for each inauguration anyway, and to extensively roam the new extensions and lines of the network.
