Carlos, I loved your comment about provenance. "Very important in the antique world, not so much in the thrift world." 😂😂 You have no idea how much better your thrift stores are in rural Norway than they are in northern Michigan. It's so much fun to watch you guys shop but also quite envy inducing!
Thank you for taking us along thrift shopping. OMG, I love Arne's cabinet with all the little drawers. Perfect for crafting supplies. I hope we get a tour when all is in place.
Guys it was delightful, here in NC USA. That wouldn't be a thrift store, but an antique shop!!! Our [here] thrift stores have very very cheap things. What I saw there would be antiques here...Wish I was there with you!!!❤❤❤❤❤
If you ever came to my tiny community I would take you to our Free Store ( shoplifting is encouraged). You can get some really cool and useful stuff for absolutely nothing. But I am totally in awe of your thrift store!
I'm very happy about your comingback! My favorite find is Arne's cabinet with all the drawers. Wish I have one like this. As per Carlos' advice to carry a mesuring tape when going thrifting, I carry one for many years in my purse. I may need it in a general store, decoration store and more. Many years ago, I went shopping with my grand-child to buy her shoes. She was then 4 or 5 years old, but we couldn't separate both shoes that were attached to try (she is 19 now). I mesured her foot and bought the shoes. She couldn't believe when I took the tape out of my purse: "So you have that!" Precious moment. Happy end of summer you guys.
I wasn’t expecting a new episode, so thanks! Thrift shopping with you is always fun. You might know this already, but Barbie has had several friends over the decades, many of whom used the same body but with different heads. I had one who was Barbie’s “groovy” friend. She had pigtails with beaded bands and sunglasses on her head. Very cool. Her name was P.J.! 😁
Thank you for showing us the spinning wheel this time! Of course, I wanted to see the one in the basement, too. As a retired theater props builder/designer/acquirer (who still carries a tape measure in my pocket) I was SWOONING as I looked around at the furniture and trunks. If you ever run out of things to do you can start a brisk export business; just fill up a shipping container and make obscene profits.
Arne, i had to laugh out loud, because you want to hide the computer. I can feel this 100%. I always decorate knitted pieces and anything made out of fabric but hide the technical stuff. I don‘t have a TV because it spoils the optic of a room and disturbs my eyes. Always fun to watch you guys💯
I love a thrift shopping trip. I have two girlfriends who I do this with. I recently bought a mini chest of drawers for £1 and a chandelier (I kid you not) for £2!! I regularly buy things that I can upcycle for gifts at Christmas or birthdays. I also go thrift shopping when I go abroad. It's so much more interesting than tourist shops. Next time I go to Scandinavia, I'm going by train....no weight restrictions!
I think you should have put a little more gold paint it on each broken piece, it is meant to be raised a little that's what gives the funky look. The glue is apoxi, each tube has different thing 1 is glue & 1 is harder, the gold powder is just for show. They will work if you go a little slower xxxx😊
I was completely amazed that both of you walked past the trunks - some of them rosemaled - in the basement without even glancing at them. A Norwegian-American would be DROOLING over them!! 😊
My husband just finished this puzzle and I thought of Arne right away! It’s all Nancy Drew books! I took a pic of it but have no idea now to send it to you
Thank you soooooo very much for stopping by the spinning wheel in the thrift shop! It is beautiful and it probably would have followed me home. . . They are amazing technology and I love working with them. Learning to spin gave me a wonderful source of meditation, and I try to do some every day. Good luck with your furniture shopping! The older pieces have so much character. See you in September! Yvonne p.s. Doug just casted on his first sweater & is knitting his 4th or 5th row of ribbing now.
I found your channel in 2022, and I have learned so much from your knitting tutorials. I was really just learning the basics of knitting then. Now your show has become a comfort to me if I'm having a bad day I put you on and everything seems a little brighter. I became a member today because of this. Can't wait to see all the extra videos and such ❤
Three questions: 1) Does the Beetle have a name? (I swoon every time you drive it!) 2) Where did you find the Beetle pillow in the back window of the car? 3) Please tell me you took the blue box home! It is just so lovely! Makes me want to make a trip to Norway just so I can buy it! 😂
This was such a wonderful thrift store ! Complete with basement which would mimic a ‘grandmas attic’ !! Loved all the stuff you looked at . What treasures. Thank you for once again sharing the joy in your lives . Everywhere one looks in the world of A& C there is gracious beauty to be found. You bring such a lift and a hope for better things to come, a reminder that beauty CAN emerge in such a world as is these days. ❤ Marilyn xx NJ USA
Happy Sunday! So fun to get to go thrifting with you today. I received my Norwegian wool from Rowan for my 2024 Christmas stocking! Thank you for another beautiful pattern. Have a wonderful week! ❤❤🤗😘
I loved all of the Rosmaling Tina (?) I’ve never seen anything like it here in the USA !! Also I love the little orange vase/pitcher and cup set you walked by so many times ! It’s fantastic! 5:11 and 10:07. Then the basement!! 15:02 the Rosmaling on the trunk!! Then 15:24 I can’t take my eyes off of the tapered leg mid century modern desk ! It’s perfect for your computer to hide it !!So fun watching your chanel! I started when I was in cancer treatment . I was trying to find a good way to cook lutefisk!! You two are so fun ! Awe, poor Freya! Little darling! 🥺 I have two black dogs. Big Labrador and a little girl like your Freya (but a cocker spaniel). They both don't like the heat. Poor dears ❤
Never go to the thrift store without a measuring tape. Could not agree more! Have a mini one in my purse for yard sales. That place had some lovely furniture! Love the little tabletop chest of drawers you found. Hello from sunny Oregon US.
Hi guys I just loved you coming out the biggreen doors the thrift store had a lot of stuffthe drawer was a nice find you could put a lot of things in it I ne very leave home without a measuring tape lol well take care see you next time
I loved this episode. My mom and I have always been great thrifters and as I look around I see so many things we bought for such great prices. Because we are in California they don't have as many antique or older items as you find at your thrift store. I could spend hours in the one you showed us. I for sure would have bought the porcelain hanging angels that were shown at 10:24. Please do more of these videos. I love the box Arne bought. Freya is gorgeous as always!
Ooh, Arne's taste in furniture is so much like mine! I got a very similar desk with a rolltop and cubbies a few years ago at a thrift shop, and it's the best thing ever. And I saw a stack of plates that are in my wedding china pattern at your store!
Hi, I love your thrift shopping. You could always take the old legs off and add longer ones to make the cupboard taller. Have fun finding treasures. Sian from North Wales 😊
Beautiful glassware! And the rosemaling box was amazing. My husband's ancestors were Norwegian from a place called Landsverk. That is also their last name.
Loved this video! I saw a pitcher and bowl I really liked. I was drooling over the spinning wheel even though I know nothing about how to use them. So fun to see you both in the VW. Thanks for bringing us along!
Love your videos. I am coming to Oslo from NEw Zealand in September. I do a lot of thrift store shopping here at home and hope to find some special things in Oslo
I can't wait to see your new fabrics in your hexagon quilt. Also looking forward to seeing how you make a shirt from your embroideries.... this is very popular at the moment and I think the results could be great! 💜
Ur Thrifting videos are entirely too short, you don’t exhibit the thrift store well at all. People want to experience the store and it’s treasures, not just your goal purchases.
