Although I'm not a solo female traveler (lol), I do find some of these tips useful. For example you hit the nail when you said that knowing some Spanish is handy which is true. When I did my solo trip to CR, I knew enough Spanish to ask for directions or ordering food. A lot of times I was in situations where locals didn't know English, but when I was in Manuel Antonio, the tour guides and the park rangers knew some English. Probably another tip too is to don't bring a Discover card to CR because most places around CR do not take Discover (from someone who only had a Discover card and had to get help) Bring a Visa or MasterCard if you plan on bringing a credit card as a form of payment. Love seeing Olly in the background too lol 6:54 - 7:03 Great tips and great video as always Emma :)

Dear Emma! I follow you for a long time here and on RU-vid and finally I bought my tickets to Costa Rica! I'm so excited to to visit this beautiful country May, 20 - June, 6. Now I check very carefully all your videos, because I want to be prepared for everything (I'm female solo traveler). But I would like to ask you if you can recommend someone for a budget tours in a different parts of country. I plan to go by local buses from place to place, I have a couple routes but not finalize my trip yet so, I'm flexible. I'll appreciate any recommendations about accommodation too 🙏. Thank you in advance, your video are very helpful! 🤗😊

Hello! Thank you so much - you will love Costa Rica! When it comes to budget tours, it isn't really a thing, because most tours are directed right at tourists! However you can do some things on your own, such as the Uvita Waterfall in Uvita, or even the La Fortuna waterfall you can pay the entrance and go yourself, the hike we recently did in La Fortuna was low cost and fun as well, with a great volcano view! If you are on a very tight budget it might be better to stick to one location, as the traveling part can be the most expensive and/or challenging - buses are not always easy to figure out here. But if you go to somewhere like Manuel Antonio, and then bus down to Uvita, I think you would have a great time, see lots of wildlife, waterfalls, and beaches! Also for food, stick to the local Sodas (in general, the less popular/tourist friendly looking, the cheaper!)
