I enjoyed every one of your tour videos, which I think were very well done. You said just enough, but not too much, leaving us to enjoy the gardens. Thank you for all the trouble you took.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience with us. It is now a keepsake and you can revisit it at any time. I loved all of the gardens ... they are all special in their own way. I remember going to a Shakespeare Moon garden with all white flowers and plants... thought it would be beautiful at night.. It is so calming and I definitely think that is a feature that is needed. With all of the color palettes, non stop perennials and more garden rooms a break with a bench, a water feature, a beautiful statue and a few pidgeons sounds inviting. You have been most generous with the care you show with informing your visitors of all the details and considerations. It touched my heart with your emotional nature.. very special indeed.

Loved the RU-vid tour with you. I don't think I'll ever be able to visit England again. But in my dreams I was able to tag along with you. I also LOVE the "Lovesong" rose 🌹 I want one for my garden. Half my roses are David Austin and all but one is " Own Root" Can't wait for the propagatetion video from David Austin. Loved Loved Loved seeing all the gardens from your tour ❤

Kimberly, I love your videos so much! I was listening to you on the Rose Chat podcast and you were saying how you just wanted to find people who want to talk about roses all the time!☺️ That’s definitely me. I often find myself trying not to talk about roses so people don’t think I’m obsessed! Anyway, thank you so much for making these videos. I have watched the David Austin tour many times already. Sometimes I just put it on when I’m working in the garden and glance over at it when I hear you mention a particular rose I want to see💐. All of the gardens you visited in England look absolutely stunning, so thanks again for sharing!

We are adding a 22 x 10 pergola over our back patio in late August/early September for my Albertine and Wollerton Old Hall to climb. Just a thought for your ramblers. Love the idea of the reflecting pool.

I found such a love for roses and such a PEACE, that my life had been missing. I'm so happy you were able to go on this trip and I hope you're able to go on many more! And maybe lead your own one day! I'll sign up!

Thank you for spending time to talk about the food! I remember when I went to the UK over 10 years ago, my Aunt said the traditional "complimentary" breakfast was typically some kind of cracker and jelly, lol. The fact you had the option for a full English breakfast every day is a great value! I also wholeheartedly agree the hotels should be priced higher. I remember our hotel in London was....cozy, and it was nothing like these spacious suites!

Just want to say thanks. Really appreciated seeing these gardens and the way you presented them. Did feel we were walking through them by ourselves (my wife made the virtual tour too!) I was aware of Hidcote, Sissinghurst, Mottisfont, and Kiftsgate through books and some documentaries, but the way you filmed them made me feel I was there and as beautiful as they were I got to see them in an unvarnished state and that was appreciated. Enjoyed your enthusiasm and mixture of commentary and quiet in your presentation. Also liked your final synopses. Will continue to view these gardens for inspiration. Thank you again and keep up the good work.

I just discovered your beautiful channel and so glad someone else cries like me when experiencing beauty and joy in gardens. I have been wanting to plan a trip like yours for many years. And now that I am retired from the airline and have flight benefits, I am chomping at the bits to spend time exploring gardens of the world, and especially those in the UK. I am a lover of roses thanks to my grandmother. I don't have a big garden and have some David Austin roses in pots at this home due to experiencing rose rosette disease in our North Texas area for many years. However, I am planning on planting more roses in the coming years. Thank you so much for this valuable insight and information. Looking forward to discovering more rose knowledge and experience from your channel.

I had a lovely getaway with Kimberley. UK notes not related to gardening: (1) After converting pounds/liter to $/gal, gas was $8.80/gal. (2) In England they drink their water and soda at what feels like 60 degrees. I usually drink mine at 36 degrees. (3). None of the beds at these 4-5 Star manors had top sheets. We should have asked for one, but she’ll pack one next time.
@indiradahan
@indiradahan 2 года назад
Most Europeans do not use top sheets. It's mostly a fitted sheet, and a duvet with duvet covers changed out every week. (At least this is what we did at home). :) You'd probably want to know what we did in the summers growing up... It never got hot enough in the Netherlands to justify anything lighter than a duvet, however, I am sure with the insane heat now, it's probably different...

I've revisited your videos so many times, especially Kiftsgate and the David Austin public garden, my two favorite venues, and what an excellent job you did in every location. As a passionate rose lover, especially the old roses, which in southern California feature mainly the reblooming tea roses, Chinas, Bourbons, polyanthas and some of the hybrid perpetuals, I really enjoyed the focus on so many beautiful roses. It also helped immensely that your visit coincided with the main blooming periods of the roses and companion plants, which really makes quite a difference, something I noticed especially with other videos where the visits were later in the year with much sparser blooms. Thanks so much for your wonderful presentation of these gorgeous places, which have been a continuous pleasure for me to revisit.

700$/day is expensive for what it was. Breakfasts is normally included in the hotel room rate, meals are maybe about 150$/day. Coach transport isn’t necessary because UK is a small country and car rental would ve been cheaper. The entrance to many gardens is included in a 100-150$ annual membership of National trust. A guide is also not necessary because most plants are labelled and many gardens provide audio tour guides for a small fees.

Thank you for commenting! I hope to come visit again in the future without a guide and separate from the tour!

@@TheRoseGeek yes, i would highly recommend that approach. The gardening scene in England is very well structured and organized. You just need to join a few organisations like National Trust, Royal Horticultural society, English heritage and NGS. There are many more nice gardens like Exbury, that you can visit if you are travelling on your own.

I just recently discovered your channel and am looking forward to watching these U.K. videos. I was able to see some of those places with a garden tour group and it's extra special to see your footage of them. We saw David Austin Roses and my all-time favorite weeding tool was purchased in their gift shop in 2009 (a Burgon & Ball weeding fork ... four tines). LOVE that thing! I appreciate your genuine love and enthusiasm for the gardens and could relate to you getting emotional about finally visiting a place you'd read about. I had a similar experience when going there... and also at Emily Whaley's garden in Charleston, S.C. After reading her book it was so wonderful to walk in her space. Our garden tour group went there a few years ago and we got to meet her daughter and see the inside of the house that time. Anyway... I so look forward to viewing the rest of your videos and browsing what else you have put up. You look like "good company" to me. :-)

@@TheRoseGeek If you do make it there, you should read her book first. Makes it a lot more fun and she's delightful and hilarious to read. I didn't see the garden when the azaleas were in bloom, but her daughter has tried to keep the tradition going. The first time I was in town with a "daughter of another mother" and was wandering around looking for THE house while she waited in her car with a sleeping child. (Her husband was serving in the Navy at Goose Creek.) By luck, some people came by on bicycles and I asked if they knew which house was hers and it was right next to the one I was standing in front of (horrible sentence!). There was a sign on the gate that you could walk in and they encouraged a $5 donation in the mail slot. I was in that garden for 6 skinny minutes but all by myself. It was the one place I'd really hoped to see while there and the tours that included it did not allow baby carriages. So... I felt like it was a "gift" to me that it just happened the way it did. I got a few photos and walked to the back to see where she'd buried her beloved pets over the years. That situation brought a tear to my eyes for sure. It's a small, walled space but was very famous in its day. I look forward to your visit to Kiftsgate Manor gardens. On my second visit to England with the garden group, that was our first stop. Hidcote has eluded me twice... the first time in pouring rain with my husband (we thought we had another hour). So, so sad. ;-) I was really happy to see your footage of that one. I only took a few soggy shots at the entrance. When the group visited Kiftsgate a few years later, Hidcote was not open on the same day. Sigh ... just not meant to be! ;-) It's a long way from the Pacific Northwest to the U.K. Oh... link! :-) www.amazon.com/Mrs-Whaley-Her-Charleston-Garden/dp/1565121155

@@TheRoseGeek Yes! Jasmine and boxwood seem to be the order of the day. :-) I didn't get to see Boone Hall but went to Middleton Place and Magnolia Plantation. Really beautiful. I LOVE Charleston ... as long as I wouldn't have to be there in summertime. :-P There was a particular house in Charleston I photographed... they had jasmine all over around their entrance door, the street sign nearby ... it was crazy but beautiful. I think that house was not far from the Whaley place.
@kathymiller9916
@kathymiller9916 2 года назад
@@TheRoseGeek Now you mention it... I didn't see roses everywhere either. They probably pose more trouble than they're worth there with the heat and humidity ... and there are so many other things that bloom and are pretty. I did notice a 'Lady Banks' rose growing in Charleston while walking around... just in front of someone's house. They must be pretty heat tolerant.
