Hey Ya'll👋 and welcome back to my channel! We've been getting quite a bit of rain here in South Florida and I'm certainly not complaining, especially since I have been planting so many colorful annuals and these Sunpatiens are no exception. Traditionally, I plant the "old fashion" impatiens throughout my garden in the winter months, however, with our heat and humidity they simply don't last. With Sunpatiens, South Florida gardeners can continue with that same color throughout the summer months, provided they are protected from the late afternoon sun. But before I plant these beauties, I need to do a little maintenance with regards to the irrigation and soil amending. I hope you enjoy this video and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE! 😀

OMG....I am glad it’s not just me....I use to have Impatients coming out my ears....purple, red, white, pink and orange....I had them everywhere...in the ground...in pots.......HUGE pots...outside ...and inside on my porches.....they might die back in winter if it got too cold for them, but they would sprout back up for the warm weather...But, I can not for the life of me get the Sunpatients to last or do much of anything....anywhere.....I miss the traditional ones...and haven’t been able to get ahold of any....so, I wish you happy luck for your beautiful planting bed to thrive beautifully.....And I look forward to seeing your upcoming projects.....Happy Sunday....✌️💜💋

Looks like that area where you are planting the sun impatients are shady. I'm in Port Charlotte and I just planted my sun impatients last week they get full sun in the morning for 6-8hrs and they look like crap!!! 😭 I am soooo disappointed and extremely fustrated...should I move them into the shade??? $30 down the drain!!😤 Please help me!!!

Hey Amie! I completely understand your frustration. Living in our very hot and humid climate requires little adjustments sometimes...even when the plant tag says full sun 🌞 The Sunpatiens I planted in this area of the walkway get morning and just a little early day sun and that is almost to much much since they just start to show a wee bit of stress. The adjacent area is also planted with Sunpatiens and only receives morning sun and they are growing faster and don't show any stress. I would suggest finding a place that protects them from the late day sun. Also, these guys require weekly water soluble fertilizer to keep them green and blooming. @@GrowingTropical Thank you so much for your quick advice I truly truly appreciate it!! I guess I’ll have to move them I may know of a better stop…I think😆 I have a rock bed garden so it’s a real pain moving the rocks far away from my plants so they don’t scorch them underneath. I should just research which plants grow really well in rock beds.🤣 Your flowers and plants looking so healthy and happy!!!! I’m so jealous!! Any chance you do flower bed🪴 landscaping??

That is NOT Periwinkle that is VINCA!!!!!!!!!

Hello Superwoodyboy! Periwinkle is also called Vinca or myrtle and are the same genus of about 12 flowering species. My mother used to grow them wild since these plants naturalize so well here in our South Florida heat. Thanks for watching the channel 😀
