This was a great video...I LOVE Nova Scotia.... I grew up in Massachusettes and my family camped in NS and on PEI many times.... I have incredibly fond memories of Magnetic Hill and another oddity .. Reversing Falls... Love the whole area... Look forward every week to seeing your videos .... Thanks for sharing !!
Hi Peter!! So glad we brought back some good memories for you! What a beautiful place to grow up camping. Magnetic Hill was so fun! I'm glad we tried it out. Thanks so much for watching our videos! -Katelyn
Amazing, amazing, truly amazing! You find the most fun places to visit! I have heard of the Bay of Fundy, with that super deep high and low tides, but had never seen it. Thank You for showing me…HOWEVER, I would totally freak out putting our Lucy in neutral and start rolling (not slowly, but pretty darn fast!) backwards and UPhill. I’d be outta her in a flash! Completely defies the laws of nature and science. Wonderful videography once-again you two! Love Ya, Virginia
You guys need to swing by Saint John NB and check out our famous "reversing falls" where twice a day the Saint John river is made to go back upriver by the tides of the bay
I sailed into Saint John NB as an 18 yr old in 1976 and that was when I first saw the incredible tides of the Bay of Fundy. I visited Reversing Falls Rapid which was fantastic to see.
I love your video! I live in Saint John and if you're ever in the area again, ypu have to visit the Sea Caves. Like the Hopewell rocks, it's a mustbsee at both tides. Have fun with your adventures! Looks like you have an amazing time in your videos💜
You guys popped into my feed all of a sudden yesterday, and what do you know we are of to the Maritimes and Fundy Bay and all those awesome places this week. So thanks a bunch for your great videos. Took lots of pointers! 🤩
Oh yay!! What a happy coincidence! We hope you have a wonderful time, so glad our videos gave you some good ideas. Thanks so much for watching! -Katelyn
@@NewstateNomads Hi Howard. Thanks! Our ship arrives in St John, New Brunswick, on Oct 14th at 6:30 AM, and we depart at 6:45 PM. The tides that day in Fundy are Low Tide Fri 14, 5:54 AM ADT 0.63M High tide 11:42 AM ADT 1.72 m Lo Tide 6:26 PM ADT 0.45 m - At the moment, most of the ship tours are sold out, but we can probably get on one after boarding the ship. The most comprehensive tour is 6 hours and appears to cover many of the points you highlighted in your video. Royal Caribbean calls it the Saint John Bucket List tour. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you! Here's what they list as the Overview: Experience everything Saint John has to offer. Your picture-perfect day includes the incredible Reversing Falls, the Old City Market, historic Fort Howe, and charming St. Martins. On this exciting tour, you’ll see where the mighty St. John River and the Bay of Fundy’s monstrous tides collide, creating the Reversing Rapids. Whether slack tide or peak tide, the view from the vantage point is always awesome. At Fort Howe, built by the British during the American Revolution, the lookout offers a panoramic city and harbor vistas - and a great photo opportunity of your ship on the horizon. Your tour includes the Old City Market, the country’s oldest farmer’s market. There, take pictures of the same wrought-iron gates that have swung closed at the end of each business day since 1880. After, enjoy some time on your own at the market for exploring, shopping, and a bite of lunch. Then head to St. Martins, a quaint fishing village founded by Loyalists in 1783 and one of the prettiest hamlets along the Bay of Fundy shores. Have your photo taken in front of two covered bridges, the only spot in the world where two can be seen in one shot. Also, before returning to the ship, visit the impressive red sandstone sea caves, accessible by foot during low tide.
Wow I didn't know big nice boats can rest on the ground like that. I always thought only canoes and row boats could do that. I gotta get outside of Detroit. Ha ha. But downtown I did see giant tankers turn completely sideways in the rushing Detroit River and dock inside of a slot barely big enough for the boat. That is an amazing operation and they do it all day like clockwork. Big scary river that Detroit river
Well that was all cool. But if your boat got stuck under the pier that wouldn’t be much Fundy 😂 see what I did there 🤣. Now I have to google magnetic hill because I need to know 🤓. Cool video👍🏼
Another fantastic and interesting video. How do you two find such distinctive places? You keep enriching my bucket list! 😁 thanks! Regarding San Diego, Even after living here for almost 25 years, it seems like I haven’t found anything truly unique. But must see adventures would include the USS Midway (aircraft carrier), with the other ships nearby, old San Diego, gas lamp district, and the two zoos/ sea World. Lego Land is a nice place to visit, once and I mean only one time. There are a lot of great wineries in Temecula, a town north of San Diego on I-15.
It's really bizarre, it's like you're thinking tides don't happen anywhere else in the world. I live in the UK and have travelled to a few countries and observed the tides. In every single beach where there are boats not only can you walk "on the ocean floor" when the tide goes out but boats will be seen sitting on the floor. It's how tides work. The water comes in and it goes out.
Yvette, it's a great question. We have remote systems to monitor and control the temperature, as well as webcams to keep an eye on our three pups. 👍 -Howard
This was interesting. Like you, I wondered about the boats safety rising at high tide, then sitting on the sea floor at low tide. Amazing what a few hours can do. Magnetic Hill was amazing too! From the looks on your faces I think you both were as equally surprised. I enjoyed seeing Bay of Fundy & Alma, NB with you. Beautiful places.
Hi there, I'm not sure what you mean? We showed the low tide at the beginning, walked along the seaweed and exposed ocean floor, and showed the boats in the dry harbor. At the end we returned to the same spots, this time with the tide in and all those areas covered in water. 👍🏻 - Howard
This was such a fun video! I hadn’t heard about the dramatic tide changes in the Bay of Fundy, very cool, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to hearing the story about the magnetic hill.
It is really great travel with you!! I love to watch!! There are so many footage!! I really enjoyed!! Thank you for sharing this my new friend!! Greeting from Korea!!😍😍👍
It was drizzling when we got there, which meant less crowds! I had to take a photo of the water washing over my feet/shoes. It’s a thing I do with bodies of water. We missed Magnetic Hill, but next time we’re back east we’ll have more time to visit more places.
They have one of those hills in Florida too, Spook Hill in Lake Wales. Didn't work for us?? Hey does that dash cam arm help reduce reflection from your dash by putting the camera closer to the windshield?
We literally just finished the same exact trip as yall but we didn't take the ferry .we are now back in Maine boondocking on a 400 acres totally off grid and love it just us and the dogs 🐕
"Magnetic hill" is an optical illusion. If it were magnetism that moved the car, there would have to be a gigantic magnet behind the car. Or a moving magnet below the car. The only thing that is moving the car is gravity and that only pulls an object downward.
Thanks for all the Great Videos from Canada. Being Canadian i loved them all, especially now i am almost blind thanks for the memories along the way. Will be watching more of your travels. Smiles from Southern BC
While I'm not sure of the types of videos you enjoy, there are certainly timelapses or edits of just nature footage that you can watch if you prefer not to get perspective or the experiences of a host. We think many people enjoy our style of destination travel videos, but also understand it's not for everyone. Thanks for watching. -Howard
That definitely would have been fun to capture, but would have required us to stay there with the camera for hours and we wouldn't have been able to capture anything else! 😅 Maybe next time! Thanks for watching ☺️
