You can find so many so-called Hermès experts on YT/IG with a lot of false info about quality storage, stuff to buy to keep the shape,... Some of these tips are harmful and damaging. Another fantastic episode, Juliet! I especially loved Marie's restoration of the moldy Birkin. I can understand how upset someone would get to discover that much mold on a precious bag, but in the horse world, we dealt with it all the time. Saddles and bridles would get used on a horse, the horse would sweat from the exercise, and if you didn't thoroughly clean your tack before putting it away, or if the tack room was damp and didn't have good ventilation, you would get mold on all your stuff. I have several cleaning tricks and products I use to restore moldy tack, so caring for leather bags is not intimidating to me, but I think I'm out of the ordinary in that regard. Marie is a wealth of knowledge, and I love that you've had this series with her where she's shared her stories. Thank you so much! ❤️

Of course I’d be a bit nervous cleaning such an expensive bag, but I feel bad when I see people online afraid to use and enjoy their beautiful Hermes bags because they think they’re going to get “ruined.” These bags are so much hardier than people think!
We live in a sad world when this kind of repair is considered exceptional instead of the norm. I am glad old crafts are making a comeback, because I know that my parents used to re-sole their shoes every now and then, and it was considered normal.

Can we still bring the bag to repair at Hermes boutique in future or not. Can another ARTISAN/Hermes SA will notice (reject/refuse) to repair.since it has been repair outside of hermes shop like that
Loving these interviews, Juliet! And Marie brings an interesting take on storage. If you watch Mel's interview with Marianne, an Hermes collector and authenticator for 30 years, she says to always store the bag upright. Especially with a Kelly, if you store it laying down, it creates a pressure point on the shoulder of the bag, leading to damage in the long run. And she also says that if you store your bag in the box, over time, the glue used to keep the box together will start to smell, and the bag will adopt the smell of that aging glue. Marie is saying the opposite - store it laying down and inside the box... Both women bring a lot of experience and expertise to the table, so I can only conclude that everybody has their own methods when it comes to caring for Hermes pieces, maybe there isn't one right answer. As long as we treat the items we own with care and respect, there is no reason why they shouldn't last us a lifetime....or even outlive us and be passed down to our daughters!

So I have seen a couple of storage recommendation from Hermes that suggest laying the bag down on its back but then I've seen issues from people who did this and the inside back pocket created an outline that can be seen on the outside. Also, I have seen bags kind of leaning backwards from storing on its back. Can y'all share why this would happen if storing on the back is the proper storage technique?

Thank you for a very informative Hermes video. Just wondering if it's okay to store the bags with the twillies on or it would not be good for the leather. Heard that twillies should be off to let the leather 'breathe'.
I would love to know what happens to the rest of the skin when they need to dip into the leather bank. Does the rest of it get used? I have seen an older color on a Rodeo and wondered if it was a scrap from a repair.
I would absolutely never ever use an insert... only fourbi but not when storing it... even using an insert when using the bad is not recommended at all... but always always use something inside... personally i use only fourbis or a silk scarf inside with my stuff inside the scarf 😘😘😘
That mold issue was horrific! I couldn't even tell the bag was black. I have a question though... I thought Hermes doesn't spa interior of bags? She was still able to spa the interior of that bag?
