My Tip for positioning & turning a Christmas tree on hardwoods. I use a large bathroom rug turned upside down placed on the flooring. It prevents scratching and makes easy to turn the tree. Then place tree stand and tree on top of rubber side mat. After decorating, place the skirt or in my case my grandmother’s quilt to cover the rug etc. My cats sure enjoy the quilt under the tree🐈🐈‍⬛

We had one of those Santa's in the little vehicle when I was a child in the '60s. We bought it new. It was to put Christmas cards in. And it was flat when we got it I think. Seems like it was made out of heavy cardboard. Seeing it brought back a lot of memories for me. I loved that thing. I wonder what happened to mine / my parents. I need to look through my deceased mothers things. Perhaps it will be in some of her old stuff that I have not gone through yet. Thank you for reminding me of it. It was a good memory!

It’s too hard to find affordable vintage decorations these days. Your cat was very interested in helping to decorate your tree. Has your cat climbed your tree ever? Merry Christmas Sydney 🎄love all your vintage ornaments. I was lucky enough to safekeep a few of my Grandmothers. They are the pink, turquoise, lime green, blue pinecones. Also I started collecting other vintage ornaments over the years too. I have one from Germany that is a beautiful chocolate brown color with ivory frosted vines and flowers.

Sydney, we are so alike in the way of Christmas decor and collections. After 40 years of marriage, my husband passed away, we had over 20 storage containers full of vintage Christmas we had collected, much like what you love and have, many BB trees, advertising boxes, games, original boxed things, Santa's of all kinds, etc, I re-married and we retired to Mexico. After being in antiques dealer for over 30 years, and still was at the time, I sold all of my collections in the Antique Mall I had a booth in, in Granbury, Texas. Amazing how you have your home… Living in PR we do get a real tree but right before Thanksgiving …the Xmas season starts.. It ends close to the end of January. We do have a long Christmas here. Enjoy your home and blessing for the New Year.

The first time we got a flocked tree, our cat kept licking the flocking! Of course, we were concerned about toxicity. A call to the nursery assured us that the flocking was not toxic, basically flour and water. Some years later, we did see trees at one place that had small pieces of cellophane in the flocking to add some sparkle. We avoided those, figuring that ingesting those couldn't be good for kitty's innards! Happy New Year

Beautiful Vintage decor. We always had a white flocked Christmas tree in the 60’s and 70’s. All the tree lots offered them back then.

Beautiful decor. I believe the Santa in the truck was made to hold Christmas cards. We had one growing up, that’s what Mom used it for.

You have an outstanding collection of vintage mercury glass ornaments and other decorations. It's all so visually playful looking..a sort of candyland vibe with all the bright colors. The tree is super flocked and the white makes the ornament colors really pop. Does flocking a live tree affect how long it lasts? Do you still put water for it, etc?

I have that same red sparkly reindeer and a coordinating white one that used to belong to my grandmother. One of the few things I have from either pair of grandparents.

When Linda did a Christmas home tour with your old house, I loved the vintage wreath you had. That prompted me to take my old ornaments from my mom and put them on a wreath. Then I made my in laws a wreath from the ornaments they left here and they loved it. I then made a few and gave them to family.

Your tree is GORGEOUS,I can’t have a real tree anymore,I am allergic to them very bad ,I live in tree farm country,nothing like a Real tree . I also collect vintage,it’s funny how different our collection is.I have 2 aluminum trees ,I haven’t used them in 3 years but I can’t imagine getting rid of them,maybe next year .Vintage is getting harder to find ,I can hardly past up any of them,so many of mine I never paid for ,people just knew I collected them but I have been collecting them 40 years l love them all . Lovely decorating, memories of my childhood. I have some vintage Putz houses from my grandmother. I didn't know what they were or how old they were. I will have to get them out, repair a couple eg. the church came off it's base, and display them. I also saved the tinsel from my trees from the 70's. Merry Christmas to you both.

5pm Cali-time. When my mother moved for the umteenth time she had an army of people helping her and someone threw the ornaments out. Things that she had collected since 1950. Looking at your collections brought back so many memories. Thank you! And merriest of merrys
