Merry Christmas!!!!! 🎄🎅✝️❤️ I haven’t watched the video yet, but I just wanted to quickly tell you guys how much I love your channel and how much you guys truly mean to me! I’ve been a viewer of Early American for at least a year now, and then about 6 months ago got into what was going on over here at Frontier Patriot. You guys have VERY quickly become my comfort channel! As someone who is in their early 20s, has tattoos, colored hair, piercings and is non religious you might think I would look at your guys channel and go “no way, not for me!” But I relate to you guys so much, especially you Justine when you talk about your struggles with making friends, and when I watch your channels I feel like I’m hanging out with good friends! I’ve always been a big lover of history, but because of you guys I have really started to get into early American and colonial history. I might even get into reenacting someday if I build up the courage. Anyways, long story short I just wanted to let you guys know how much I appreciate your channel & I hope nothing but good comes into your future. Speaking of the harmonica- i just had to chime in again with this story that did NOT occur two hundred years ago but is never the less extremely interesting. Several years ago I was at a large memorial service for one of my friends when ALL OF A SUDDEN the pastor said, "Now here is Stevie Wonder" and no joke, who walked up to the podium but the man himself. He said a few words about my friend, sang a hymn, then whipped out his HARMONICA and played a tune. NO ONE moved, no one took out their phones to film him as far as I know (I was sitting in the very back of the room). After he played the harmonica, he left the church by a side door and the memorial continued as if nothing out of the order had just happened. It was amazing.

White Christmas for me was the best from the two movies with Bing Crosby, "Holiday Inn" and "White Christmas", guess I am from a different age, with different memories.. I was born French Catholic and used to attend the midnight mass with my family in Alsace. After mass, we'd gather at my grandmother's farm house and have the "Reveillon" (pronounce: rev-ay-o.... but the o finishes with a nasal sound... ill = y sound).Anyway, we'd come home for the Reveillon de Noel, but did not eat breakfast. We had oysters on the half shell, smoked salmon, foie gras, lots of bread and white wine ( sorry Ron... Kinda fishy). It did not last all night. Kids were scooped up to go to bed, since Santa was coming and could not be seen... Just thought I'd share. Merry Christmas!

As someone who is a trained singer, I love that you sing!!! Well done on the "O Come All Ye Faithful". "I'll Be Home for Christmas" is my favorite as well as "Let It Snow". That one was my mom and dad's favorite song post-WW 2. To this day we sing it to her at Christmas. She's 101 years old!

Pertaining to the Yankee doodle song. I always wondered what it meant and found this... To be “macaroni” was to be sophisticated, upper class, and worldly. In “Yankee Doodle,” then, the British were mocking what they perceived as the Americans' lack of class. The first verse is satirical because a doodle-a simpleton-thinks that he can be macaroni-fashionable-simply by sticking a feather in his cap.

When you asked about I also went blank, but right before the end, it hit me: "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas...just like the ones I used to know" is the first line. It was in Bing Crosby's movie of the same name and was sung as soldiers in World War II, far from home. There's also the one Mel Tormé wrote that begins "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire / Jack Frost nipping at your nose..." - another American beauty. Very enjoyable "chat and chew". Personally, I can't stand black eyed pies whether you've fried them or not so I'd have probably given that a zero. And, I have to side with Ron on caraway seeds. Major yuck. I love so many German recipes, but there again, I often have to discard caraway seeds from those recipes! 😃 Otherwise, the ginger bread looked like a decent recipe. I'd make that one change. Goose & apple pie looked very interesting (but you should always cut everything to bite size in a pie). I was fascinated by Ron saying that the apples just tasted of onion and goose. I guess it was simply a slight sweetening agent to the gravy. Good job, Justine! Oh, and the breakfast after the midnight mass "la Réveillon" -- those double LLs behind an EI, in that case (and often) are a YAH sound. Like the thing in the Army they call "rev - a - lee" is spelled réveille. So ré (RAY) veill (VAH) on (nasal sound of O..don't pronounce the N but form it in your mouth. Maybe someone who speaks some French can should it to you. You get a slight YAH before the final nasal sound, but it's difficult for me to write it out, sorry. Merry Christmas to you both!!! 🥰

I think the bean patties could use some kind of thick syrup. In Holland we eat brown beans with bacon and “stroop”. Stroop is a thick syrup from sugar beets 😋
