You are so right! We have a neighbor, he's a young healthy guy who works, but his yard is a complete mess. He won't touch it. I'm not sure if he's lazy, or maybe he just doesn't know how to mow. It can be an eyesore but we just ignore it. After several months, I think his mom and family came and did the yard work. But my husband and I decided that we just don't want to get involved like that, or be Karen/Ken neighbors 😊 Maybe he will grow up eventually and take a little more pride in his place. We take care of our yard and that's all we are worried about
Totally agree , ridiculous to complain when people are still obviously in construction… miserable with nothing better to do but cause drama!!! If I was your neighbor I would have brought you a meal or at least some cookies!!!

Construction is always a mess for a period of time, people have no life and nothing better to do but complain. There is always someone who is perched and watching but never offers a hand. I wish people would just stop by and ask what is being done so they know it is temporary. I applaud anyone who is upgrading their property. It helps everyone on the street with property values. I am glad it is done and over for you and you can enjoy your space in peace. Thanks for sharing.
Sorry that you are having such troubles with your neighbor. Sounds like they are jealous of your improvements. That’s so sad that someone would be acting like that. I would also think that the county would be able to see you have permits to do all of this and not have come bothered y’all or threatened to fine you. So glad that you are getting closer to having it completed. ( curious to see how the concrete truck going to get in close enough.)

If someone complained to the county you should be able to go to the county and see who filed that complaint. We did and the individual who did the complaint was not close to us. In my state they have to tell you. A lot of people do not realize the person can find out. You should check into it. And if you’re able to shock your neighbor.
They kinda told me haha so I'm pretty certain I know who it is. But it's not worth my time I know I'm doing what I'm allowed and supposed to. 😌 that give me peace of mind ❤️

Karrie I am sorry you have a Karen in your neighborhood, they are everywhere. We have one too. We have a building like you are getting. Ours is a 21/2 car garage building. When we were getting it put in we had a Karen that complained about the noise of the trucks for concrete guys it was a pain in my butt. We do have a sheriff that lives on one side of us and a police officer that lives across the street from us so they took care of her fast. I didn't have to deal with her because of my great neighbors coming to my rescue, my husband was at the golf course every time she called and complained. We love our neighbors other than her. We love our building. This is at our home in the Pittsburgh area in Pennsylvania. We also have a home in Florida that we built and moved in this past September. We are snowbirds lol. You and Dylan will make this beautiful I am sure. I am so happy for you! I am so excited I can't wait to see what you do inside. Keep smiling! Sometimes people are just nasty and jealous! ♥️🙏🌴

If you live in Florida, the county/city trims back limbs, in preparation for hurricane season. Have you checked around your neighborhood to see if other trees were trimmed? Trash collectors or other county workers, notify the government if they see something that needs addressing. I wouldn’t assume a neighbor reported me, before I called code enforcement.

I'm in Pasco County, Florida and in the city limits. I have a corner lot, the easement on both streets sides is 20 feet & 10 foot easement along the alley way. A few years ago the trash collector guys came on my property, along the alley and trimmed back several trees. I keep the trees/bushes full along the alley as a natural privacy screen. They cut holes in the growth so you can see through it. I was so upset with every right to be. I wrote a letter to the city manager/mayor to get resolution. I did go through the chain of command first with no results, other than, opps, sorry, it will grow back. I submitted photos of the before and after to prove my point. The city brought me 3 evergreen bush/trees to fill in the areas. It was a nightmare trying to deal with this, so I get what you went through.
Who ever is calling about you is just jealous. People are so petty. I'm so sorry you have to deal with people like that. I am so excited for you and can't wait to see the finished product.
So sorry about all the stuff you had to go through! Like you said sometimes things happen for a reason and are a blessing in disguise. Whenever we would have anything done around our home, we would let all of our neighbors around us know what to expect. Not that we had to but just out of common curtesy. And our neighbors do the same and we all appreciate that. You don’t have too much longer to go now and it will all be soo worth it in the end! Praying everything else goes without a hitch! 🙏❤️👍

I am so happy the cement crew is caught up and has come and put your form in. I know exactly the stress you're experiencing, we were there a few years ago with a house addition we had to add to male a MIL suite for my dad to live with us. If you call the city and let them know that you’re in the middle of construction and that you will have things out in front for pick up they will actually pick it up for you and if anyone complains, you will not get the red ticket

The easements are only disclosed on your survey. The title company would have been able to explain the survey and who they are for. Usually it's the city or power company. You may need to get an updated survey which is usually cheaper if you contact the original survey company. The title company is who requires the survey. And that building over the easement was probably grandfathered in til you removed it. After that, they usually won't ok it to be rebuilt. 45 years of mortgage experience 😉 It's going to look great and more lovely when you get your hands on it. Hang in there, construction is not easy. My neighbor called the police on us because of our wind chimes…not loud! Fast forward…and they get wind chimes that I have to listen to! Luckily I like the sound. Police knocking at my door at 8am on a Sunday morning! Just found out she called the police on the neighbor on the other side for something just as petty! Can’t fix people like that. Waste of police time. Rant over. 😂

So sorry you ran into problems. I never understand why neighbors complain...I understand nosy- aren't we all. But why not go over and offer to help for as much time as you can spare? It doesn't hurt to offer. Everyone pitching in makes things much more fun and makes nicer neighbors(even the crazy ones 😜). At least it has for me😊

As far as the easement goes, that is all on the survey you get when you purchase. BUT, how would you know how to read that? When you go in to get the permit (We learned cuz of our fence), they tell you where you have to put it etc. So that is all they did at that point. I think b/c you have a lot of industrial bldgs around (If I remember correctly), that may be a zoning thing so they can service poles etc? Do you have a lot of poles around? Sometimes that also happens when there are as an example cell phone "towers".
It will be amazing, however I would have confronted whoever complained you are much nicer. You are doing things that increase the value of your home which increases the complainers value. It is very clear you are working on a project. Take care and stay safe. ❤❤❤❤❤

It is so exciting for you to finally get to this point. there is always so much waiting involved. Be careful though when the concrete is poured and all leveled out, that the dogs don't wonder onto it. That happened to us when they were having our concrete for our garage poured. Our dog decided to walk onto it while it was still wet and they had to redo it. Needless to say the contractor was not happy!
