i guess the line "life is a waterfall we are one in the river, and one again after the fall" could mean. that every human is the same when you are born. "one in the river" then once you are born and go down the waterfall of life i guess, everyone starts to diverge doing their own thing. all becoming individual droplets from the same river going down the fall, and of course once dead at the end of the water fall of life, we become one again in the river below. it could signify that before and after death the human soul (or whatever you want to call it) is pure and equal. and it is only trough and during the process of life that souls become different from each other.

Yeah, that's part of the art in itself. Defining yourself in your tone. Probably why so many bands sound alike. I remember an interview with Hendrix, said he sliced his speakers with a razor, and essentially created fuzz distortion.

It's not what type of guitar it is, that particular chord progression is played on an electric guitar, it's the amp settings, (a distorted clean channel with compression and reverb)

The song is about life, the kid represents your ego, not humble, dissatisfied, extremely materialistic, controlling, narcissistic, ect. "lose small mind and free your life" ego death frees your life from suffering, also another interesting lyric in the song, "Life is a waterfall, we're one in the river and one again after the fall." It's talking about our souls all being united like water in a river, then as the water falls over the edge, its separated into droplets, (our bodies) then finally reunited after the fall...(death) "Swimming through the void we hear the word" swimming through the void because we died, what word do we hear? We hear the word of God. "We lose ourselves but we find it all." Losing our life, but finding God. Thank you for reading my comment

As a guitarist ill explain it for you:). He is playing in typical SOAD drop B tuning which makes a natural very mean and nasty sound as its a common metal tuning Ex SlipKnot. But when you turn off the Distortion and play it clean and add A delay affect. You get that. Drop B is a very dark sounding tuning so playing it clean with delay overlapping each note you get that very twisted grungy sound.

The guitar is tuned down lower than normal. It's called Drop C tuning. Normally a guitar is tuned to standard tuning EADGBE Drop C is CGCFAD So every string is tuned down a full step accept for the top string which is down 2 steps, giving it a deeper, lower tone.

Chris Creamer You can tell it’s bass because of the high notes on the E string. There is that slight harmonic sound that happens when you play high notes on the E string on bass. Also, all of the bass tutorials say it’s on bass. If you looked up a saxophone tutorial, it would show how to play it on the sax. Tutorials don’t say what instrument is being used, they just show how to play it on the instrument of your choosing.
