@@Camel_Belowdozagreed, without a doubt, but the distance in talent between Layne/Chris and the others is astronomical. The other 8 aren't even in the same universe as Layne and Chris in my humble opinion.
Cornell easily outshined Staley as a singer, no question about it. it's like dude said, this is a layne staley channel so of course he is one, but he couldn't touch Cornell.
@ChromeCobra420 Sure, Cornell is the better singer. No one can sing better than him, and I love him. But we're talking about "Grunge," and Layne was unique. The depth and range of his voice, creativity, and raw power put him at the top of Grunge singers. In fact, he is the quintessential Grunge singer.
Can i ....or i....need to....point out that the choice of clips and their compilation from #10 to #1 is sheer musical genius and is like one beautiful kikazz mini grunge concert for me everytime i listen to it over and over and......over !!!!!!! Kick It !!!!!
I'm personally really obsessed with Jerry Cantrell's singing. He might not compare but i still like him. Especially when his vocals are paired with Layne's! :D
If you could bring back three on this list who have passed away, who would they be? Me personally, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, and Andy Wood. Seattle must’ve been amazing in the late 80’s to early 90’s. But dark and twisted at the same time.
I may actually put Chris in the top 3 voices of the last 100 years. Up there with Freddy Mercury and shit. His voice was actually life changing. But I think Layne was in his own category.
#5 Eddie Vedder #4 Scott Weiland #3 Chris Cornell #2 Layne Staley #1 Kurt Cobain it wasn't just the music (which was the best) it was just as much the voice he had to send it that made Nirvana not only the best grunge band but the greatest thing since the Beatles and there's been nothing close since
Definitely, Chris Cornell is the best, in all facets of singing and if I write, in everything else, I don't finish...followed by Liam, Eddie, Scott and Kurt, they are all my favorites
Was about to comment, even with this short’s crap quality (maybe it’s just my phone), that high note gave me goosebumps. That performance of “bleed the freak@ is unreal.
@@jenbunny1984saw another comment of yours here -- freaking Love those of us that just KNOW that Layne is simply the most phenomenal singer of all time 🙏💯♥️🤯🎸 **And so glad Daniel Johns was not forgotten, he is absolutely one of my favorites I go back to and watch live shows most of which people had no idea just how phenomenal it was.
@@KendrickMegaFan daniel johns was a bad motherfucker back in the day, too... how many 14 year olds could make frogstomp? kurt as well, he had some fuckin pipes. but yeah, scott weiland was a damn good singer. layne, chris, scott, kurt, daniel, then maybe eddie.
@twally4966 I love Laynes voice aswell, but I think Eddie's is better. I know I'll possibly be in the minority, but hey, that's just like, my opinion man.
Yeah. Super versatile. He could make his voice sound like the singer from whichever band he was ripping off on any given dogshit hack track that he was recording. He's the most famous local bar cover band singer ever.
@@stacisandhas3937ok I love Layne but Chris is the objectively better singer of the 2, hr has more range, has more versatility, just as much power besides the belts like it’s ok to like Layne more but to say otherwise is foolish but Layne is easily the 2nd best vocalist ever next to Chris, they’re both in a league of their own
