C ratings matter. 120c 2200mah ends up in the ~300 amp area (call it 200 for safety) so that's a hefty power source. A lesser 40c could not have handled that kind of loading and would have had some nasty things happen as a result of being loaded too hard. Good choice on the high C rated battery for such a project. Makes a world of difference.

Very nice! Just got a decent set up with hobby wing esc and 2-4s capable and a set of foams. Yours really is impressive. Lowering front end and working on aero dynamics…. I bet you have 105 mph in that monster. Maybe bigger tires….I hope to see 100mph out of mine soon.

The ESC is only one part of the whole setup ... both of these ESCs can be used to reach +160 km/h with correct speed run rc build 👍

Is it a personal challenge that you want to hit 100mph with a 3s? I come from the drone world, where 4s and 6s are the norm. My first thought was _"you'll hit it easily with 4s!"_ But maybe you like the challenge of 3s :) Me and my son are doing RC cars together. What fun! Great video.

Yes, it is easier to go fast with more cells .. so I like to hit 100+ MPH with 3s at that time ... now I am working with 100+ MPh project with 2s setup ... hope to do speed runs soon after winter time. About gearing, only few people were able to hit 100+ mph with Stock Gearing on 124019 so that was also a part of my personal challenge. Thanks for watching! 👍

Thanks! The drive shaft is still the Stock version ... everything is Stock (from factory) except motor, ESC, servo, receiver and tires 😀

Careful after adding thicker oil 15000cst to the diffs the motor and esc were EXTREMELY HOT after 5 min runtime!! I'm going to take some out!! #🤔

Hello 👋 i just had one question. I, too own a 124019 and both my rear wheels keep coming loose(I've already crashed because of that reason). I do check them often but each run i do, they(the nuts) come loose even with brand new wheel nuts(nylon nuts). I've even glued them lol Is there anything you do to prevent this feom happening? Thank you in advance. Btw, your setup and runs are amazing! Makes me want to keep challenging!

Check your bearings that they turn freely, and make sure that the tightness of the nuts is just right (not too tight, not too loose). thanks for your support to my channel. 👍

I've got a 124018, that I've converted rear end to 124019 and added a surpass hobby 3650, 5200 kv motor. Have a zee brand 2s lipo, 5200 mah and 100c. Stock gearing, am wondering if i'll need to go with mod 1 gearing, or perhaps up it to a 3s bat in order to hit that 90-100mph range, what do you think? Thanx for the vid, this one motivated me to drag the ol' girl outta the closet and think about finally finishing.

May i ask, how much you put for the punch? Do you put it just high to the top or how? Mine did put for full punch but sometimes tires will spin because punch too high

Thanks ! Those are 1/10 foam tires, good for on-road driving since they don´t baloon at high speed .Nothing special was done on steering, only added shims where required to reduce slop.

They only last for few full speed passes. This is a speedrun setup so expect the battery duration to be much les than a normal setup

Would you change the shock oil for a heavier weight for any reason tho. Thanks for your reply much appreciated

@@letzvisit1661 You can use the stock motor mount , just apply some heat to remove the screws. This setup was able to hit 135 km/h on 2s lipo . The shock oil was still the stock. 👍

Sorry, I dont know that ESC model ... but as long as the ESC can support the the lipo battery you are using and it can provide the Amp draw of the motor, then it will be fine.
