You should question why they do this if they are under the same company then why two brands that typically sell the same stuff? My guess is they want to flood the Amazon page with only their products to push out competitors. I’m starting to see alot of the same products with similar packaging but different brand names pop up. The brand names aren’t even well thought out. And they all come from China, the companies that make these generic cheap products come from China.

Aw, I hope you try them! I found them pretty forgiving. Maybe start with something very simple and tell yourself you won't be showing it to anyone as it's just an experiment? That would help me, I think, haha. They are so fun to paint with, you'll love them!

@PixieStyx I don't mind them, they are nice to experiment with and then when I want to get serious with gouache I crack out the Holbein :)

I'm very new to gouache too and I love the jelly gouache! I'm ok with the fact that it's student grade paint because I don't feel like I would waste it if I used it in my sketchbook or totally messed up a painting, haha. I definitely feel like it's a good in-between for acrylics and watercolors, but then again I'm not very experienced with those mediums, either. XD Still, for $25 for so much paint, I feel like this is a great way to start.

You’ll get that with any product though, no digitally created and printed colour is going to be the same as the actual product it comes with?

Thank you so much! The only other gouache brand I've tried is the Master Touch brand from Hobby Lobby that's really cheap, haha. I'd really love to try some of the higher-end ones and see how they compare. I've heard the Arteza ones are pretty good though! Do you like them?

@@pixiestyx yes I really do. I love that I can put them on a palette and use them and then the next day just spray water and stir a bit and they are good to go.

PixieStyx I did!! The illustration was ADORABLE and I definitely imagined a different palette when just seeing the line art, the palette you used felt so refreshing!

They do dry out after several weeks/months, but if you add little bits of water and let em soak for a bit, then stir them and add more water as needed, they go back to their creamy consistency. :)

I wouldn't save the plastic lids, I don't think they'd help. I just use the regular lid. They will dry out after a while, but you can reactivate them with a little water. I've seen some people use plastic wrap between the paint ant the lid to help with the seal, though!

I found it on Amazon - they may have phased it out in favor of the Arrtx branding, but I think they still have both color sets available!

@@pixiestyx I mean archival ink / india ink (not those jelly thingy inks that come in "bic" pens haha) I'm into comic art and drawings/illustration, and when I work traditionally I love to paint my work with watercolors on top of my linework, which is inked with india inks most of the time, and with microns and the like. I know with gouache I would have to ink afterwards, because being opaque they would cover the lineart, so I was very curious about how those kind of inks (india inks, sakura microns, steadtlers etc) would behave on top of that paint when dry. While watching this video I was thinking "Oh man, this piece would look very awesome aswell if she inked it with a brush instead of a pencil for the linework" haha, but only because I'd do that 'cuz I love inks xD

Using colored pencils on top really helped me flesh out the illustration and get it to look nice and crisp!

@PixieStyx My case is a bright mint like the Himi one and has its paint, but I got the Arrtx label on the case and the lids, which is confusing? They also gave me the color paper with the corresponding colors, so that's not a mistake, I guess ? Well to be honest I ordered a Himi pallet (on Amazon), so it doesn't bother me that much, but makes me wonder what happened, haha !

Artxx has 2 color palettes, so you just got the basic colors

dull as in when I mix them with white they turn muddy quite often, the colours themselves are pretty bright but I don't use very bright colors very often haha

@@pixiestyx mine took about 9-ish months before they started to get really dry, but I'm guessing if you spray them a bit with (clean) water after you used them it might help. I dont know if that would risk mold though!

Yes they do! Gouache is a bit different than watercolor. With watercolor, you just use more water for a lighter shade, but with gouache you actually need to mix white in.

It really depends on which colors you will use more. The paint quality is the same. Personally, I gravitate more towards the Artxx palette, because I tend to use more colors like those in my paintings. Hope that helps!

It’s kind of like a mix between watercolor and acrylic. It dries matte and can be used with a lot of water to be transparent, or can be used straight to be more opaque. Regular gouache is able to be deactivated with water like watercolor too. I love it!

@@saphirothplaysbad4708 Lol sorry, my phone auto-corrected to deactivated when I meant to say reactivated. XD Yes, they can be reactivated. There is also a type called acryla gouache that is more like acrylics in that it can't be reactivated and is permanent once dry. I haven't tried that kind yet!

They're actually made by the same company, so they're the same paint! Which one you buy depends on which set of colors you like better and would use more. :)
