@@Sportsref13 They don't refuse her, she will only take the prize if her husband and other band members are also included being inducted. Get it right!
She's been married to her guitarist Neil Giraldo for 40 years! So apparently he did all the things to Pat that Lex described! 😂 One of the most underrated rock guitarists, he's awesome.
@@jonschlegel1597 Did I say he's "one of the best"? No. Stop putting words in my mouth. But he's underrated, no doubt. Most agree. Take your "um" to someone who cares.
Yep, Pat Benatar, Ann Wilson, and Steve Nicks are my favs of all-time. Pat was also a 5 octav singer I believe. Her Classical training paid off huge in R&R. One of the few time Brad shows emotion/reactions during the songs Ive seen at 3:32... Pat has them all under her spell. Brad appreciates the voice ; )
@@brettkenschaft4239 Well she won't now because of you lot. By the way she won't take the induction if her husband and other band members aren't inducted too. Get it right!
@@brettkenschaft4239 I don't think she and Neil care one iota actually, although they would say all the right things if it happens. Class act those two.
@@Rage_Harder_Then_Relax Ummm, I'm pretty sure (not positive, though) that the whole band would be included. And get what right? You're speaking gibberish.
You can go WAAAAY down the Pat Benatar rabbit hole! A classically trained vocalist, her jazz album is also phenomenal. One of the best female voices EVER, and she still brings it live
I became a fan when she first came onto the music scene and did an interview where she said "Some girls say if you love me and leave me I will die. I say if you love me and leave me I will kick your ass". :)
@@chrisa4695 Yes, "Battlefield" and "We Belong" reached #5. "Best Shot" reached #10. She has some great rock songs on "Seven the Hard Way" including "Sex as a Weapon" and the grunge/punkish "Red Vision". Wide Awake in Dreamland has a good number of hard rock songs as well as Gravity's Rainbow from 1993. Research can be your friend!
I had all of her vinyl albums when I was a teenager. They played on my record player in my room over and over...and I played them turned up as loud as I could. Loud is the only way to listen to her with the earphones on of course. I loved her so much. She was excellent in concert too. We share a birthday too. Love this very talented lady. She’s married to the guitar player also. Still married to this day.
Pat along with Ann and Nancy Wilson are the rock goddesses extraordinaire! The only ladies who can rock just as good as the guys can. They all can sing whatever they want and pull it off! Pure genius and talent unparalleled by any other women during rock's heyday.
her mother was an opera singer, and Pat benefitted from classical voice training - which carried over into rock - which helped temper that badass belting range that she has. This song has always been a banger - but "Love Is a Battlefield" will always be my favorite.
I consider Pat Benatar the best female and roller. seen her doing a interview one night she sad she had wonderful parents that supported her in any Endeavor she wanted to do. her mother taught Opera
This is from 1979. She married the guitarist/co-song writer in 1982. They are still together and often perform as a duo. He's also a very underrated guitarist as he could play like this, but played however was best for the song which often meant you wouldn't even have a solo.
When this came out, there was a group of guys in my college dorm who played this incessantly. I think they considered the lyrics to be how-to instructions.
Your the only reaction channel who noticed/ acknowledged/elaborated on Pat's vocal moments (accapella).. without backing instrumentals. Thank you..thank you!!.
Hard rocking college student and then working professional in DC during her heyday, we always gave Pat total props for being a rocking badass chick!!! Insane vocal range and passion!!!!!
That acapella section = 3 Pat Benatars (or so) Also give these songs a listen: Treat Me Right, Promises in the Dark, You Better Run ( great cover tune ), Fire and Ice . All of these are dynamite!!!
Neil Geraldo, Pat's hubby, is on lead guitar. Very underrated player. Always had creative, tasty solos. Plus he's from my neck of the woods in the Cleveland, Ohio area! Parma to be exact.
When this album came out, I did EXTRA chores for extra allowance to buy this album!!! This woman was trained in opera & has a 4 octave voice! Her husband had to pull her out of her comfort zone & into doing rock. I, for one, am so glad she made that move! 🤩
Brad & Lex, I know you love great lyrics. So please react to Hell Is For Children by Pat Benatar. It's about child abuse. Very poignant start to the song that develops into a ripping rocker much like Heartbreaker.
I’d just like to thank Lex for breaking it down for me, I’ll take that advice for what it is and apply it as needed. Hopefully it’ll help me in future relationships and I won’t die a lonely old bachelor‼️🤔👌🏼🍻
Promises in the Dark, You Better Run and Hell is for Children are great tracks from Pat. This woman should’ve been in the Rock and Roll HOF years ago!👍😂🤘🏻🎧
We're a rock/metal band and do as many or more songs from her (including this one) as any other band. She actually used to be a bank teller an love this quote from her. "I'd be counting money all day and all i could think of was of ways to steal it!" : )
Whenever I hear this song I can't stop thinking about the show Seinfeld, when George worked for the Yankees and Steinbrenner had this song in his head but didn't know the singer 🤔
Pat has been married to her guitarist Neil Geraldo for 40 years. They are one of the greatest marriage success stories in show business. You gotta watch interviews with the 2 of them in recent times. They are amazing.
One of the few time Brad shows emotion/reactions during the songs Ive seen at 3:32... Pat has them both under her spell. Brad appreciates the voice ; )
My favorite, Pat Benatar song and it’s the first one I ever heard, offer debut album on the radio. I love Pat Benatar, and her first three albums are the best.
I saw her in concert back in 1983, her opening act was Billy Squire who had a few hits around that time. His song The Stroke is one you should review. My favorite Pat Benatar tune is We Live For Love.
When I was young I knew nothing about women. Then for about 3 years, I thought I figured them out completely. Since then, I realize I don't know a damn thing about them and gave up trying! 🙃
I finally got to see her about 15 years ago and she was still incredible. Even during her warm up you coukd have heard a pin drop. Her and Spyder are still together and such a beautiful couple.
The “Woooo!” that Lex unleashes after Benetar sings “the right kind of sinner” line is so perfect that I wish it could be put into the original recording.
When I was growing up Pat Benatar reined as the queen of rock, and for good reason. I saw her once in concert ... and holy hell her voice is incredible. When you get to reacting to "Promises In the Dark" ... and that is the one song you should do .... there are2 versions that I think is wow. The first is the official version (link here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7qUFZwJb9GA.html ) ... but in 2021 Pat and her husband, Neil Giraldo who is the guitarist in her band, did a concert. Decades have gone by, and while she has lost a little, she's still got it. And so does her husband. The first 2 minutes is her talking, but its cute as she banters with the crowd. Then she goes into "Promises In the Dark". ... its a good contrast to what her younger versions did. Both are awesome. The link for the 2021 version is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IGt-OgxfqcM.html
Just saw Pat Oct 25th, 2021 in Houston .... SHE STILL KILLS IT! Also, she married the "Heartbreaker" Neil, her guitar player... been married for almost 40 years!
Lex I love your shirt lol Genre fluid... love it and its so perfect for you haha Pat Benatar was one of the leading women in rock during the 70s. Heart, Benatar, Joan Jett, we had such great music!
