These ''reviews'' are all fake. They never dislike anything. There's loads of these blk couples/singles ''reviewing'' white music on YT, as though they're doing us a favour. Its condescending crap, and its all about money for hits. Dont fall for it. When do you ever see/hear blk people liking white music.? They're too insular/racist to enjoy our music, like we have always enjoyed theirs.

Player, as in player of a musical instrument. "Player" wasn't used back then to describe what would then be called a two-timer. And I've said it before, you kids are too cynical. In its day this was considered a romantic song. Not that cynicism didn't exist in music (see Steeley Dan) but this song belonged to the romantic genre, and that was pretty clear.

Peter Beckett, the lead singer, came to America from England to try to make it big in the biz. His wife eventually got homesick, gave up on him, went home, & divorced him. He wrote this song about it, & became a star. Hope she was sorry! So many good-looking men in one band. My, oh, my! 🎸 🎹 🥁

If you grew up in the 70's into the 80's this is a very powerful and nostalgic song that conjurs up memories of lost love. Many young (and old) 'broken-hearts' jammed this one hard back in the day and it still reminds me of a few 'that got away' every time I hear it. For those of us that lived it, it can really bring back a major case of 'the feels'. 35 years later and I still love and miss you Gabrielle ❤. After having taking BABY COME BACK for granted lo these many years, I now seriously believe this is one of the best modern pop songs ever written and performed. From the lyrics to the melody and how every instrument and vocal harmony is on point and supercool. It's laid back and smooth but at the same time it has a harder edge than most R&B tunes. I am a proud 71 baby and this kind of music is my life and I would take their concerts over a lot of them now, any one of them could sing lead and still be a platinum album. Singers thought process back then along with a different kind of heat added to the charisma of their music! Thank you and keep of your good work because as you feel our music you feel our souls. ❤

I always thought this was Hall & Oats. I would classify this as blue-eued soul.

The song you are thinking of was sung by the Five Stair Steps and it is called "Ooh-oo Child"

This song is unique in that you can hear a mix of 60s and 70s sound in it, and yet you could hear it start to gravitate towards the soon to be early 80s sound. This is how music evolves from one decade to the next. This is still a great song for any time period.

Flawless example of mid 70s soft rock.

If you enjoyed this song, try Player's "This Time I'm In It for Love." More upbeat, wonderful harmonies!

This song was torcher to me at nineteen years old, when it first came. I was longing after two different girls.
