My band opened for Shinedown back in I think late 2003 or early 2004. We had just done our soundcheck and were hanging around the club, and this guy came up to us, and was visibly inebriated. He mumbled something about hoping he could find the right guy he had to talk to, I asked him who he was looking for, and he just giggled and walked away. A few hours later, we did our set, unloaded from the stage, and were waiting for Shinedown to go on. Lo and behold, that completely messed up guy was Brent, the singer. He put on one of the most incredible performances I've ever seen. Everything was on point and he had that place wrapped around his finger. It was simply amazing. None of us had any idea what any of them looked like.
One of the best hard rock songs ever. By one of the greatest rock bands ever. Just like Metallica, ShineDown gets better with age. Their music matured with them. Even now they'll throw back the switch. Remind us all they can go hard with anyone. Sound of Madness is a must have. One of those songs that will stand the test of time.
Definitely a band they need to go see!! I have been lucky to see them twice and would go every time they are within reasonable distance to go watch the mastery of Shinedown‼️💯🔥
My favorite Shinedown song, followed closely by Second Chance and If You Only Knew. To me, Sound of Madness is the ultimate been there, done that song, as in don't complain to me, because I literally wrote the book on whatever it is.
@@scottwilson3741 Your so lucky 🍀 I would give anything to meet Brent. He just seems so down to earth doesn’t have the big head like a lot of rock singers.
@@Terri6868 when I met him he was just starting out I guess, or hadn't been at it long anyways. This was probably around '99 so I couldn't speak 2 how he is now but he did also give us a cpl CDs. He really only came 2 us, I think, because he saw security stop me & my friend from starting a mosh pit lol
I missed this stream. so happy you guys got to do another shinedown song. they are one of my favorites. they get hate in alot of streams because they are so popular and radio friendly. they have so many great songs. looking forward to watching you guys hear the rest. love you both.
I mean when you’re as good as shinedown you get on the radio, they can’t help it that they’re one of the best rock bands to come out in the last 20 years. Plus I think a lot of people relate to the lyrics (I know I do) and Brent is such a force of positivity!
“Got the weight of world on my… SHOULDERS!!!!!” 😂 this was my first shinedown song, I think, either this or 45, not sure which came first, but I do know I loved them from the first time I heard them to now and probably forever.
This song is an early song. I saw them in concert last August, they were awsome. They been going for 20yrs. Have a new album 💿 called Planet 🌍 Zero, it’s about the pandemic & mental health. Brent Smith is the singer should check out some of the newer songs. Cut the Cord,” Get Up 🆙” Monsters,” Devil,” How did you Love,” Call me,” 2nd Chance,” they have so many great songs. They have more hits on the rock charts than any other band. ❤️🔥
This whole album is great, start to finish. This album will always hold a special place in my heart as it got me through a very personally difficult deployment to Iraq in 2009! Shinedown is so great!! Touches the soul!
Old school Shinedown was HARD. They had ballads, to be sure, but right up until Attention Attention they were pretty hardcore rock. After that, they tended to be a little more poppy, but I still love their music. I got to meet Brent (the lead singer) at a Caroliona Rebellion festival years ago. I told him how Shinedown's music pretty much kept me from going crazy when I was deployed, and he came around the table and gave me the biggest hug, despite there being a huge line behind me to get autographs. A really cool guy.
I just saw them in concert with The Pretty Reckless. Great show, they sound amazing live! Wait, did I see Brad bouncing and rocking out for this song? Quiet, stoic, and analyzing Brad was bouncing around?
My thoughts while listening to this song has always been that he's fighting back against depression and dark days, and calling upon others to do the same.
I was fortunate enough to see them live last week. That makes my third time seeing them and they just get better each and every time! They closed the concert out with this one and it was perfection. Per. Fec. Tion.
To me, it sounds like a message to the self-loathing and self-destructive type. To get over our "woe-is-me" attitude and fight for our own joy and peace, cause no one else is gonna do it for us. If so, that's definitely relatable for me.
Moms diggin the music. I had a hard time when I started listening to "growler" singers, then I got it. Mom will adapt, she digs the music, soon her playlists will change lol.
**does her happy dance** Yay!! I missed the livestream, so this is awesome! I'm starting to feel like every day is my birthday. This reaction was so dope! So you got Brad doin the Brad 😎, right? He's smilin. He has accepted that Lexi is gonna be in his space if she's feelin it, and he rocks along if the groove grabs him. Then you got my spirit animal ❤. Ooh girl! You remind me so much of my younger self, it's ridonkulous! You make my heart smile. And saving the best for last, we have a woman I've never met but feel indebted to & who has my utmost respect. Mama Lex, I'm sure you know this already, but you were blessed with a unicorn for a daughter. Your daughter is a breath of fresh air. From one mother to another, I salute you ❤. I also see where she gets it. The harder rock is a bit of an acquired taste, but I could tell you were feelin it & that's what counts. The only part of the song the kids didn't quite catch was the "for yourself" after he sings "fight." It's very much a song about self-confidence and taking life by the reins which any woman that has earned being called Mama and not just Mom can agree is what we all want for our babies. 🦸🏻♀️ Happy Mother's Day to you a few days early. Y'all as a trifecta are pawsitively 🐾 awesome. P.L.U.R.R. (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect, and Responsibility) from Texas.
"Crow and Butterfly" is beautiful and "Monsters" is awesome...There really isn't a bad Shinedown song...The lead singer and lead guitarist also have a side project called "Smith & Myers"...you can react to "Not Mad Enough" and "Bad at Love"...
Let me just say, I stumbled onto your RU-vid today and I'm glad I did. You absolutely earned a subscribe. Thanks for being so open and being yourselves on these. I would humbly request Shinesdown's I'll Follow You. Means a ton for me personally and as I was writing. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see what else you have coming.
LOVE me some Shinedown and Brent Smith 😍😘🥰❤️💋. I’m a 60, 70, 80, and early 90’s ROCKER. Absolutely no other genre of music will do. For a 90’s band, they are insanely great. His voice ❤. You should listen to his remake of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s most popular songs Simple Man. Only Brent could do that song the justice it deserves. I’ll always love me some kick ass Rock and Roll ❤. Man, I’m getting old. That’s ok. At least I lived in the best eras of freaking rock and roll 🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘❤! Rock on people, until next time around 😉!
One of Florida's finest bands!!!!! Jacksonville, Florida baby! I'm in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. I dig your reactions!!!!! Do some Nonpoint!!! They're from Fort Lauderdale.
