Can we just talk about how Lex called this song "beautiful"? She's officially one of us lol And she tried to mosh with Brad on the couch, get this girl to a concert, like, yesterday. Love it! My favorite Slayer song, and that whole album is amazing.
As I watched this reaction I thought the same thing. She really needs to get into the pit at a show. I know a few weeks back they mentioned wanting to go. It might have even been a Slayer reaction vid. But the more I see her rock out, the more I know she needs to feel it in person. Metal can be enjoyed recorded but it's never really felt until you go to the shows and feel the energy in person.
@@4foxsake89 LOL! Her transformation is complete. She's already got the Slayer t-shirt, now she just needs a flannel, some high tops and some raggedy ass jeans and she's set. The uniform of my people.
@@PriestessOfNothing I can remember buying this CD when it came out. We sat around bitched it wasnt like Reign in Blood but loved every song. Ah Youth and stupidity lol.
Once. Just once. I want Brad to bump back into her and push her a bit when Lex tries to mosh with him. That's when she'll unleash the beast. I think he knows and he's just scared to lol
When I first started to lean to play reign in blood my fingers kept wanting to play south of heaven, then accidentally discovered its also dead skin mask. So all 3 songs are just rearranged versions of the same notes.
The whole album this song comes from is a masterpiece. I definitely need to see you react to the self titled song Seasons In The Abyss. Lex is going to go crazy when she hears the guitar solos and drumming in that song.
Seasons in the Abyss is by far my favorite song on imo their best album. Hearing it played on 2 acoustic guitars is gorgeously disgusting sounding. Damn my brain as I can't think of who did that cover but they typically play Latin style guitars. They did like 4 metal cover and Seasons was one of them. The solo is amazing and absolutely grotesque. I gotta drop the link in a second. Too bad ass not to share. Maybe Brad and Lex will react to it.
We saw one of their last shows in Louisville. After the show, Tom walked from one side of the stage to the other, just watching the crowd and thanking the fans for so many years of devotion. When they came to our side (we were about 5 rows back) Tom noticed us waving. Kerry King came over, and Tom pointed right at us. Kerry flicked his pick, and (I SWEAR) the thing cut through the air on a beeline, right through my girlfriend's hands to land right in her bag/purse. It was awesome. So, we got a Kerry King pick. I just love Tom. He's so cool. You have to watch some interviews with him. You will love them more.
I saw three shows on their final tour due to pure luck. Saw them at home in Dallas, caught them in St. Louis and saw them in Boston on a business trip. As a longtime fan, their live show was always the best.
Great reaction. This song is based on a real life serial killer Ed Gein. He inspired the movies texas chainsaw massacre, silence of the lambs and phyco.
It's been about thirty years since I heard this song, and the kid's voice, crying and screaming at the end still creeps the hell out of me. I love this band!
You are a lucky man, Brad. She finds the guitar work of Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman (RIP) "beautiful". And her monk chant is guitar feedback, in reference to your reaction to "Wasted Years" by Iron Maiden. She is unique and fun for us all to watch. Is she always like this?
Slayer's dual guitars of Kerry King & Jeff Hanneman (R.I.P.) was an integral part of the Slsyer sound... those 2 contrasting playing styles that blended together was inspired by Judas Priest...
Ed Gein inspired some of the best horror movies, books, and music around today from Psycho to Silence of the Lambs and this work of art. Now that's crazy.
I've listened to Slayer since I was a teenager. I never really paid attention to the lyrics, but listened to them solely because I love the heavy guitar playing. I love how Lex gets into the musicality of songs like this. 8)
Oooh, I'm happy someone has reacted to this song. I can't remember if any other reaction channels I watch have reacted to this but I really appreciate this. Who knew a song about a serial killer could be so good?
You have to remember SLAYER is all about history. The History that school forgot to teach. lol The Solo's for SLAYER are not to be flashy. They are designed to be chaotic like the bands riffs.
I love the shirt Lex!!! I've been listening to Slayer for almost 40 years they are an extremely talented band, that are not afraid to sing about the horrors in life most people are afraid to even think about!
Brad's face, timeless. Now the next question, is it only due to the song or is it because his mate is into it and the thought is a little frightening to him. Lol. Happy Halloween couch gang!!!
Thank you so much for doing Slayer especially dead skin mask that's my favorite song I saw a Slayer seven times. One band that never themselves out for money they keep it raw and strong
I dig watching you guys do these thrash reactions I think you guys are my favorite ones that do it because I love watching Brad look like a deer in headlights and Lex is Jamming out to the music It’s actually really entertaining to watch you guys rock keep doing you
The look on Brad's face after Tom says,"and i promise i won't keep you long, ill keep you forever." and the double bass "kicks" in is hilarious! He looks scared af like whats happening right now!? n lex is just over there smiling n vibing to it 💀lol... Great vid like always!👍
Lol at 4:40 when Brad says "it makes complete sense now" immediately after he got this million mile stare on his face that looked like he had a horrible realization. Lol, you good bro?
Wow this was a highlight of the live stream for sure! Pleasantly surprised you decided to react to it. Time to react to their song 'Seasons in the Abyss.' It's the kind of 'heavy' your soul responds to.
Lex is how I was listening to this kind of music, I would just get lost in the instrumentals, and now seeing and realizing the lyrics to damn near EVERY song I heard growing up, and now I'm more in Brad's shoes like "Wait a minute...." with the lyrics lol
Dead Skin Mask is pretty much a perfect pick for Halloween, classic track off a classic album. One of the songs that made the biggest impression back when I first heard this in '91. Seconding (thirding? fourthing? whatever!) the recommendation to check out the title track, but you can't really go wrong with anything off this album! A personal favorite no-one ever talks about is Temptation, the double vocals are neat.
If you both are doing “themed” songs for Halloween, y’all are missing out on an addition that you must not miss! GWAR GWAR GWAR GWAR!!!!! They are the ultimate in theatrical metal. You would have to watch one of their videos to know what I mean by that. GWAR has a long history of mythos that dates all the way back to the 80’s The gist is, they are aliens. Part of a legion of space warriors called the Scumdogs of the Universe. Their live shows are exactly that…. A show! There is a storyline and characters throughout. Every tour has a new story backed by the latest album. What makes it even more impressive is, they wear elaborate costumes which they design and make themselves(unlike, say, Slipknot). They also have movies, comic books, and a board game. Here are a few tracks for you to choose from. Bring Back the Bomb Immortal Corruptor Zombies March One thing to remember when listening to GWAR, everything is approached with a sense of humor. They definitely DO NOT take themselves seriously.
Just got through listening to a song about dead flesh with one of Gein's victims crying in the background at the end and as soon as it ends I hear from Lex, "Beautiful!" I just laughed my ass off, only Lex, that was a great response!
My favorite Slayer song is from that same album, called Seasons in the Abyss. A great song about losing your mind! I'd love to see you react to that one!
The lyrics always tell a vivid story, some of their songs play like a scary movie. Great drumming and killer riffs and lyrics made this band known worldwide. Check out an older Slayer song At Dawn They Sleep.
My favorite from that album (Seasons in the Abyss), is War Ensemble, but this is a slower and creepier song, also great. After Reign in Blood, that might be one of their best album. The song is about serial killer and depraved psycho, Ed Gein who would dig up bodies and make house appliances from bones and skin, as well as a human mask and woman suit made of skin. He had, shall we say, an unhealty relationship with his mom. Ed Gein would inspire Norman Bates in Psycho Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs.
I think that lyrically this is the most disturbing song ever written. Here Lex is just bopping along and Brad is understanding the song is about a serial killer that murders children and turns them into dolls.
I remember buying this tape at Tower Records in Hawaii after seeing the video for War Ensemble on the Headbanger's Ball. I also got Overkill - The Years of Decay & King Diamond - Them as well. Guys i was listening to my walkman on the bus headbanging like a maniac. Everybody was staring at me but i didn't care. It was an awesome day.
