Most beautiful. There is nothing on earth more beautiful sounding than an English choir!. God Bless all at this most wonderful time of the year for Christ our Savior is born.
They have already endured. But they will keep enduring. Sadly so will many of the more modern ones. I don't think White Christmas is going anywhere. Unless they prove that it is racist or something.
Fantastic to have a true collection of traditional carols and hymns, the sound of Christmas for the age. A reflection of the true meaning of Christmas, for Christ has come!
It's so nice to find a source of Christmas hymns without all the secular songs! I've been looking for years, with much discouragement!! Thanks for this!!
I don't even consider myself Christian but this is the only Christmas music for me. The holiday is what it is, you can't change that. And I am closer to being a Christian this time of year than any other. I feel like there is something really special and powerful happening this season the year, and the music brings it out.
@justforever96 you can become a Christian if you desire and the words of these Christmas songs will live in your heart as you own them. Receive the unconditional love of Jesus the Christ turning away from sin and be connected in a personal relationship being forgiven having eternal life, heaven and a blessed life full of joy always not just at Christmas.
Finally! Finally someone has put out a collection of the carols I remember as a chorister, with the descants I remember, the tunes and arrangements, total perfection, having to listen to it twice! And the angel at the start, well, what else can one want ?
Saya percaya kepadaMu Yesus Juruselamat manusia... Wahai Pencipta kami I Love You.. Penuhi kami dengan cintaMu kepada kami Amin Amin terpujilah Engkau wahai yang maha baik melebihi kata kataku Amin Amin
@@caroljung1310 Carol, if you are saying the service should not have been canceled, I will totally support you and agree with you. I love choir music and organ music. You may send me a reply if you want to talk to me.
I wish there was a way for me to track how many times I have listened to some of these songs on repeat. If only these people (and others) knew how powerful listening to these hymns can be. (Thank you, Scotland!)
Pure essence of choir singing..a true ambience of carol singing as I remember as a child. Brings tears of past Christmas when our times were a great deal nicer to bear n enjoy within the family life. ..all robins singing in the holly bushes ,snow on the ground and walking back home from school on a winters day near Christmas time, and Sunday school days. Memories that awake when I hear this singing..and again I can relive it . Rejoice to our saviour..and long live the blessings of Christianity and carol singing forever..long after we are no longer down on Gods beautiful earth.
12-24-21 -- The Miracle of Christmas is enchanted by the exquisite voices of Caroline Belfour & multi choir reps in the midst of the rainstorm outside San Francisco, CA, USA, and plenty of snow in the Sierra Mountains.
Far away here in Africa, it is lovely to hear Caroline and the Choir singing so beautifully, and to hear Richard's magnificent organ playing. Thank you for including the words! May the Lord bless you all.
This is absolutely beautiful. This has really lifted the spirit this Christmas Season. Thank you for posting such a beautiful arrangement and with the words it is like being at a traditional Choral concert❤🙏🙂
Such lovely music, so beautifully rendered by so many very talented musicians! Thank you for lifting our spirits during these very uncertain times.... Surely God and his Angels must be smiling!
Thank you for this wonderful selection of loved carols and for giving in printed form the wonderful words that inspire and remind us of what we are celebrating at this magical time.
Oh my. Pure perfection. RIP Stephen Cleobury, we miss you. Caroline's solo bought tears in my eyes. How I love Christmas music that's done really well, as is the case here. My style 100% too. Bless you all and have a Bless-ed Christmastide. xx
None but Thee Dear Lord Jesus Christ, none but Thee! Wishing all mankind a peaceful and blessed Christmas for unto us is born Lord Jesus Christ, The King of Peace.
It is very reassuring to know there are still many of us who remember and cherish nostalgically the Christmas of these real faith deepening Christmas carols of the child Jesus in a manger! Without the commercialization . This set of carols brought me the real meaning of Christmas. Thank you and all have a merry Christmas and happy new year
Brings a lot of fond memories flooding back as a child when we would walk to midnight mass and sing these beautiful carols and hymes. in those days we had white christmasses which made it extra special as well. I no longer live in the uk but i can recieve bbc and love to watch midnight mass.
What a splendid collection of favorites and, for me, some new arrangements! Thank you Richard, Caroline, and the other singers for bringing such joy to people around the world. 🤗🤗🤗🇦🇺
This is wonderful. I'm intrigued by the organ, as the acoustics are authentic Arundel Cathedral, but then a 32' pedal reed appears, and the arundel organ hasn't got one! Can you let us in on the secret?
Absolutely beautiful! And so nice to hear the word "Israel" sung properly. All too often over here in North America and Canada particularly (where I live) it's sung "Is-Rye-el". Grrrr it drives me nuts! And it's also nice to hear that the words haven't been changed to be 'non-gender.' That's another huge source of annoyance for me. I can no longer sing Christmas carols from memory - I find myself singing different words from everyone else! This is such a joy to listen to. Keep it up...your music is outstanding! Thank you!
"Iss - rah - ell" is absolutely correct Hebrew, Latin, French and German pronunciation for the name of the Hebrew patriarch and nation flowing from him. Considering that the hymn existed in a Latin version (in which the second line was "Solve captivum Israel") prior to its translation into English, and was first published in Germany, there should be no objection to the use of the pronunciation from those languages as compared with the English pronunciations "Ihz - ray -el" or "Ihz - ree - ell," or the more lax version "Ihz - ree - uhl." That said, I totally agree with you about the outrage of modifying historic texts to suit modern notions of gender fluidity.
@@RichardTaylor1630 absolutely no doubt as to the correctness of everything you say! However, the hymn is being sung in English, so why suddenly introduce the Latin pronunciation, which, to be authentic, would contain the unvoiced "s" anyway? It wouldn't be enough to change the vowels to make the pronunciation Latin, it that is the (dubious) aim.

Lorna, good morning to you from Pennsylvania. Lorna, I really love the hymns of the church myself. I'm 63 years old and have been blind since birth. You know my mother was a church organist. I can tell you about more classic hymns and organ music on RU-vid. Lorna, I love your name. Please let me know if you want to communicate with me.
Growing up in the Lutheran church we always had these beautiful hymns played on the organ. I have missed this for a very long time. Brings back wonderful memories of when things weren't so awful. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am happy to say that I am a Lutheran organist and yes, I play all of the wonderful 🎵 hymns and carols of advent, Christmas, and Epithany. May you have a blessed Christmas.
My Lutheran church still plays them. Things are awful, but the church lives on. Digital computer organs not quite the same - but still powerful. Y'all come back! Good number of pipe organs survive in our city; Heed the call!
Amazing rendition of those sacred Christmas gems, angel voices and a breathtaking organ tour-de-force. Locked up with my family in view of the current pandemic I have no words than to pray for your choir so that you may continue to enflame the hearts of the faithful but, most of all, to add joy to the lonely and needy on Christmas time. Please do not stop
So divine Carol songs.. Missing those wonderful Christmas days... Come Jesus.. Come to reign in the hearts of the people you gained with the price of your precious blood..
The beautiful haunting, "In David's City"; the lovely robed choristers; your magnificent playing, Richard; & even the visual lyrics included, make this a memorable concert "to attend" in our year of "virtual" performances. Thank you, blessings, & merry Christmas to you & yours!
I am enjoying this again so much. I just lost my mom after a brief illness. This will be a different Christmas this year without her sweet, loving presence and I already miss her a lot. Thanks again.
Sorry for your loss..our parents are the heart of any family. I have also just lost a dear friend, and ex partner, along with one at beginning of the year, and my beloved dog Toby in the summer,it will be a very different Christmas this year...I hold on to the faith I will be with them all again one day.
I have found this a year after you and have just read your comment from one year ago. I hope your heart has healed a little since losing your Mum last year and that you find joy this Christmas. I too miss my lovely mum, though I lost her 5 years ago now,. Time does heal but you never forget the love and fun times.
@@susanbrown2909I wish you the strength to get through this very difficult Christmas. I lost my husband, my mum, my home, and my dog in one year, so hard to carry on with your life. It will get easier. This year I lost my best friend, that is so hard too! Loss is such a cruel part of life.
@Train Supporter, I pray that you experience the very real presence of our Lord Jesus Christ throughout this season. I am sooo very sorry about you loosing your Mom.
Absolutely. I am not even actively religious, but this is the only music that means Christmas to me. The other stuff means crowded stores and commercialism and too many tacky decorations. This is powerful stuff that makes me feel like there really is something larger, something really special going on.
ALL of those songs are meaningful. They ALL bring JOY. Your average kid isn't going to understand In the Bleak Midwinter, or The Angel Gabriel. They ARE going to understand about dancing snowmen and flying reindeer and jingling sleigh bells. And as Carols existed LONG before 'Christmas' they don't have to have 'meaning'. They can just be about celebrating life during the dark times by being joyful - no matter the subject matter. So maybe don't be such a grinch about the 'festive season' - which predates Christianity. And I say that as a Christian who loves church music and was a chorister, soloist, choir leader, and choral singer in cathedrals and high churches - and still loves Frosty the Snowman and The Christmas Song!
My heart is filled with hope, my heart is tender, my soul dances in the cold wind. Thank God I came across this clip. Before hearing it, it's been a 2years. Until I just found the song of heaven. That means my life is complete. god bless
Our Father who is in the heavens above whose light shines so bright. He who gives us light and warmth is no less then the Sun above us! As clear as day is , we see the heavens! Its not above, but life we live for one and another; right here on mother Earth. As the night comes we see his opponent jealous of his strength and light: the Moon! Beware of him and his treachury, because he swings us with his temptations, especialy when we are one our weakest. Rely on the Lord! The Sun! who gives us love and strength to those who is willing to let him in. For all people judgement comes and when we are unworthy, there is no sanctuary in Heaven but the inners of Hell who we also see in sky at night. Find them as the other Planets in our Solarsysteem, which each represents a circle in Dante's Inferno. Whe are fooled and betrayed by the scientific community, our governments and the all long corrupted Vatican! Most of their corruptions has come to light, yet the comes of the Antichrist and endgame seemes neigh. The forced fuckscines, the 5G network will act as a network to the BIGGEST Transmitter ever: none other then the !!!James Webb telescope!!! The reverse effects are already noticing but the worse is yet to come! if a succesfull deployment on 22 of December this year becomes a reality. So i ask humbly to all true believers and devotes of faith to pray for salvation and make peace with one another just if it is already to late. May the Lord be with us all!

Thanks so much, what a marvelous performance, clear and understandable words, lovely Christmas hymns and Christmas Carol's that will never grow old, because they're present to remind the entire world of the First coming of the Messiah in humbleness, who set the example of purity, love and obedience to the Father's words and accomplish the Father will of perfect sacrifice in order to reconcile us back with the Almighty Creator. He was born, live, suffer, died, resurrected from among the dead, ascended to sit at the Father's right hand, but before He went up back to where He had came from, He gave us the most glorious promise: "I go to prepare a place for you and I will come back and take you unto me", that's why Christians are the only believers that have an unfailing faith, simply because it doesn't depends on what we can do, rather on what our Creator have done and is still gonna do, that's why to celebrate the birth of Jesuschrist more than a party it's a time of Thanksgiving to God and an attitude of Great Expentancy awaiting for His second coming, meanwhile, with full conviction in His promise and persuaded that Jesus is what all the prophets tells us, wand what the scriptures marks to us in the books of the Laws, and base on the fullfilment shown in the New Testament where over and over Jesus Himself told us that He is God, and the miracles He did confirms it because before Jesus and after Jesus no one has ever able to do all the miracle that He did, confirming once more that Jesus is God and that nothing is imposible for Him to do because all things in heaven and on earth is submitted under His sublime might and power!! So, here we are respecting everyone, but declaring to the world that "there is no other name given to man king under the heavens in which we could be sabe, unless you believe and accept the name of Jesuschrist and have full trust in the merit of His sacrifice done for us all on the painfull Cross of Calvary, Jesuschrist is the only Head of the Christian Church because He baught it by His precious blood, no other one have facrigice their life to rescue the life of the entire humanity, only Jesuschrist, you and I will maybe never gets to understand the deepness of God love, so we must accept God's word by Faith, and that's the only way you and I can reach to Salvation which it's free by faith and grace in Jesus's Christ only. May you enjoy in holy attitude this Christmas Season having the great perspective of His Secong coming, now in great power and might, never again to be humiliated, but to take unto Himself those who are awaiting His coming and to judge with justice the living and the dead, and the how mighty are you Holy Jesus, amen!!!!!!!!!
Heavenly! A true expression of the essence of Christmas. Thank you so much for this beautiful and celestial music. God bless you always. Merry Christmas.
My goodness - such a blessing! Truly beautiful - moving! Beautiful performances, and the best-of-best production :) Thank you!! (And thank you Caroline for that truly beautiful opening!!)
🙏🏼 once again.. I enjoyed it even more listening this Saturday afternoon in sunny but windy Cape Town. The choir’s phrasing, perfect pitch harmonies enhanced by Richards brilliant playing... well done to all if you🙏🏼
How beautiful and deeply meaningful this Christmas episode has been to me. I have been following Beauty In Sound for some time now, and I would like to express my sincerest appreciation for all the wonderful work you have been doing. This has brought back some of my most cherished memories of Christmas as a graduate student in organ at the Royal College of Music in London many years back. Thank you so much, Richard and Caroline, and the wonderful double quartet mixed choir. With all my best wishes to you all this Christmas, from the Philippines. Oh my! What glorious Christmas music! I came to a conference some 30 years ago in NYC and our group ate lunch at Riverside Church. Never in my life have I been in such a Temple of God! I ran across the app a few months ago and have enjoyed it immensely! Blessings to all who are served by your Church Family. Dan in Nebraska
This is a gift from our lord! It’s a little bit heaven on earth, this is my favourite time of the year, because this time shows that even there are bad things on earth, the humankind itself is not that bad! There is always a good side of the human, and it’s most showable at the time around christmas!! May God bless you all! And a beautiful Christmas to all, Also those who don’t celebrate Christmas. May you have a beautiful life, and may you stay healthy during the Corona pandemic and all other pandemic emergency’s. I’ll pray for you, and peace on earth!
Thank you for this lovely selection of songs, which include my favorites "As With Gladness Men of Old" and "Christians Awake, Salute the Happy Morn." Sweet memories of falling snow as me and my kid brother played outside of our home in the Bronx years ago. Evrery once in awhile, I would stop my activity and look up to catch my mom at the window sweetly looking out at us. Beautiful memories can last us a lifetime. A safe and happy holiday to one and all. 👼🏽🎄🎁
Take care everyone. So wonderful to listen to this Christmas Music. I don't dare go to my Church service this morning ( because of Omicron spreading so quickly in Eastern Canada ) this is much more meaningful to hear the choir sing Christmas Music! Stay Safe & Take Care everyone!
Wonderful video and music. I never saw any green cassocks used before. If they are the choir for this cathedral, shouldnt they be wearing purple cassocks as in all other cathedrals¿
@@caroline.balfour Oh Caroline! I bet you had the biggest grin of the morning on your face when you responded to tell ME that this is in Carols for Choirs Book 1 - The GREEN one (that's Choirs for Carols Book 1 after a few Ciders) and there it is, on page 3, and what makes it worserer is that dear old Reginald's name is there in plain sight for all to see on THE FRONT COVER of the Green One! How embarrassing. How humiliating. I haven't laughed so much in days. Thank you and Bless You. Perhaps my own version of Away in a Manger will appear in Carols for Choirs book 251 as I have only racked up Royalties on the (free) sale of 10 copies thus far this week! Well, I suppose that 10 will multiply somewhat as they are Royalty Free and the photocopy machines become red hot! Take care. Looking forward to this weekends treats. xxx

This is the most beautiful collection of Christmas carols that I have heard in years - Such a blessing!!! May God bless you for this exquisite offering! 🙏🏾
WOW!!! That was superb. I loved Caroline's opening solo for "Once in Royal David's City", it was the voice of an angel. I can definitely feel the Christmas spirit 100% and above warming my soul. Do you have "O Holy Night"? And could it be included in any upcoming videos.
Well Hilary, good morning from Pennsylvania. I absolutely loved your comment. Hilary, I turned 63 in October. Yes, this is comforting music. I have so much music to share with you it is incredible. For now, let's start with a song by Michael Card called Thou The Promise. He also does a song called Emmanuel which is a beautiful song. Hilary, please let me know if you want to know about more great music. I use adaptive equipment for blind people. That is why I can type my replies by myself. Hilary, I would love to talk to you.
This Christmas I wish the peace, joy, and love of Christ to ALL people from Baltimore, USA. And Baby Jesus, on this your birthday, we pray that 2022 is better for us all than 2021 was.
It was a blessing to hear this starting on Christmas. I hope this stays online for a long time. It reminds me of my mother who was an awesome organist throughout her life. My dad took her to concerts where she was accompanied by a harpist. I haven't been to church for years. This fact, along with the Pandemic, brought my spirits up.
@@marygrotaers9857 Mary, thank you so much for your comment. I agree with you about being in church. I turned 63 in October and have been blind since birth. We sang O Come O Come Emmanuel yesterday in church. Please let me know if you want me to tell you how to find our church's website.
Thank you so much for playing Rosymedre in full . . It was so strange to hear you talk about Barry Rose ,our organist in St . David’s Church in Bangor was taught by him ! As soon as I heard him play I knew he had that special touch . My son is a professional Brass player / teacher in Norway ... but I bullied him to take organ lessons ,only because I thought keyboard skill would help his career . Luckily he did listen to me as he is now the organist at Tanager menighet Church . He’s not in your league by any means but he does love his work . You’re an amazing organist . Thank you for all your videos and may I wish you all Nadolig Llawen from Bangor North Wales .
Our government may have silenced church choirs - but the Word cannot be silenced, and will echo unto eternity, long after the rhetoric of cowards and tyrants has been stilled.
