I loved the fear the soldiers had when the pirates began singing together. I mean the biggest advantage the Navy has over pirates is that the Navy are United in a cause; meanwhile pirates operate independent from eachother and wild. When they showed their unity together even as they wait for their inevitable death, it’s scary to imagine Edit: Thanks for the likes guys
@@Reapergator at that time you where seen as an adult once you turned 12 or around that age (i am unsure how the rules in the carribian variied from those in Europe) and piratery was a death sentence regardless of age and sometimes even whole villages where punished for it even those that where not directly involved themselves

I just realised at the start of the song where it goes "the king and his men stole the queen from her bed" it means the pirate king took calipso from the sea (her bed) and bound her in her bones (trapped her in a human body). And now that I think about it, in the previous movie where the cannibal tribe try to free Jack from human form, thats a reference to the 3rd movie!!! damn, i'm having so many revelations all at once
In addittion: "The seas be ours and by the powers, where we will, we'll roam" in my opinion is reference to Calypso's powers. Before being bound in a human body, Calypso is the one who had control over the seas. But after she was bound, the control of the seas went to men/pirates. After that pirates were able to sail anywhere they wanted because Calypso wasn't there to stop them.
@@mariapietila5453 so the whole song. With the rest of the verses is all about bringing the brethren court together. That's why beckett said finally cause he wanted the court summoned so he could find and end them. The song is a call to arms

A perfect scene to symbolize just how wicked Beckett is. It doesn't open on a normal pirate, but a young boy. He doesn't care, all who associate with pirates go to the gallows.
@@ricardoandre7049 There we’re SEVERAL child laws at the time and FAR before this. Adulthood in some places did not start until 20 and in others until 16, but there was a legal age of adulthood, at this point it was somewhere in your 20s. There were however no child labor laws, which means you could definitely be worked really hard regardless of age.
@@scribblerstudios9895 if it was a normal day and as soon as the singing began the waves and wind picked up dramatically. I would be looking for a replacement for my post.

@@jakemandude7974 uhhh thanks for the blessing I guess? A little out of place for a pirates of the Caribbean scene about death and singing, but I'll take it.
I think the queen was Calypso, the goddess, and the king and men was Davy Jones and the other pirate lords?? They bound her into human form (Tia Dalma) since she own the seas and they want the seas for themselves.
Yeah the songs an allegory for the events in the movie. The king (Pirate King) and his men (Pirate lords) stole the queen from her bed (the sea) and bound her in her bones (trapped her in human form). Now the pirates are free to roam as they please but in time must all work together under the same flag to defeat an underlining threat. The song quite literally tells you the entire movie and backstory to the movie in 3 short minutes.

As great of a scene as this masterpiece is, historically, some of the people being hung were illegally being hung. The kid for example, he would be shot, and if someone is pregnant, they are forced to wait until after birth.
Good point! ... Then again, when logistics are lacking, you tend to cut corners...and, well, that's an awful lot of pirate to triage 🤔 Either that or rope fetish. *Looks at Beckett* Yeah...definitely a rope fetish.
I love the message about unity against adversity The world seems to be trying to tear itself apart, but we all need to "haul together" before we're all swallowed up by the Seas of Hatred...
when this first came out my little brother (we were both in highschool) went to see it with friends before i got to see it. He told me "the Royals hang a whole bunch of folks including a KID! and that's how the movie starts!!!" i was UTTERLY convinced he was making it up, there's no way it'd get that heavy. He was so damn smug when i saw it
Has anyone noticed this yet? This song is about Davy Jones betraying Calypso and the pirates taking over the seas for themselves. The King and his men- Davy Jones and his crew. Queen- Calypso Bound her in her bones means sealed her in a human body. Sea be ours and by the powers, referring to the brethren court and the pirates taking the sea for themselves.
I’m not surprised that the solders were scared. Like pirates are pirates. They are independent beings of the world. If you watch one peice pirates are really only doing it for fun. You can never break the fun of a true pirate. Even if they bout to be executed
Not when they are chained by hand and ankle togther in a staright line the soldeirs can simply go in oposite directions and shoot, not to mention its all over if they clime to the walls and start shooting, there would be no way those pirates could climb up all the stairs restranied and chained
Erinnern Sie sich, als ich 8 Jahre alt war, nachdem ich Fluch der Karibik gesehen hatte, sang ich dies in einem Piratenanzug, der mit einem Spielzeugschwert in den Park rannte.😂😂
