In this first mix of 2018 it's time to go back in time, back to the good old days when music was still released on vinyl and people wore strange looking clothes and had funny haircuts ;)
To keep it all as authentic as possible I used old footage from VHS tapes from the 90's so it's a bit grainy here and there...
Anyway it's time to spend and hour and a half accompanied by 36 of the most awesome oldschool hardcore, harppy hardcore and gabber tracks - so with that said turn up the volume, release the gabber inside and you know...

I was in my early 20’s and raving every weekend 1994-1999. I knew they were special times and appreciated them dearly while in the moment. Almost in tears at the amount of love and respect fellow ravers showed to each other. It was like we created our own fantasy land for 8 hours each weekend.

No phones, nobody caring about how you danced, nobody judging you, just pure enjoyment and living for the moment, the absolute time of my life. Now there are too many posers, too many people bothered about what they look like and too many people filming , seeing everything second hand through a phone screen, and not enjoying the vibe . Shame, young team of today don’t know what they are missing, with most of them slaves to social media.

We were the modern day hippies at the time. Raving, fun, friendships, adventures and party above all. I am 48 from Rotterdam (Parkzicht, Energiehal, maasvlakte) and still enjoy listening to these playlists. So miss these times. Even used 1st rebirth (jones and stephenson) while walking down the aisle at my wedding 13 years ago ;)

We didn't really have gabber in Copenhagen, but we had jungle and drum n bass. My friends and I would sometimes go to Rotterdam and stay with some Dutch friends that we had met in Berlin so that we could go to gabber parties. It was so fun down there. Not that the scene wasn't awesome here, but it was just very different.

I remember going to a massive rave in Manchester like this when I was 16 years old. Had a massive oldskool and gabba room where everyone dressed and danced like this. No one gave a sxxt. It was brilliant. Same as others have said in here social media and the attention seekers have ruined it for today's party goers. Back then it was just all about having a good time and loosing yourself in the music with your mates. Now days it's all about posers showing off how pritty they look on social media. I feel sorry for todays generation that they cannot experience these types of big oldskool style raves anymore

8:31 guy in the weelchair. Thunderdome 2017 had a similar thing. Guy in a weelchair lifted up so he got the opportunity to see more of the rave than backs and buds alone. Was highly appreciated. Even the mc and dj saluted the guy from the stage.

Seen it loads of times at raves here in the UK. I spoke to an old boy once who had lost his son. His son was late 20s and dragged his late 50s old man to a rave. This old boy had never listened to these sorts of tunes or done Es before. Poor fucker was trollied! 🤣

you hear about this sweet rave happening fri night at the warehouse. you show up, music is blasting inside but you can't hear it yet, you can only feel it in your lungs. you walk into this huge, dimly lit warehouse. there are literal thousands of people. most wearing knockoff addida sweat suits. the majority of the crowd are young males, and most of them look like frail skinheads. you recoil in horror as the bass thumps harder than your heartbeat. so you seek refuge in the bathroom. a nasty, dirty little room. with hoards of more skinheads huddled around any horizontal surface on which to insufflate lines of grey powder. you try to leave, but are blocked by spastically dancing gabbers, maniacally chewing gum. this is your life now. you can never leave.

In my country there are still partys like this, but not to hardcore style, partys to dance psy trance. If you know where to look at you will find it, but yeah I agree this is a party I wish I could go to in the current time, just to shake and forget about everything that is going around the world, without judgement just pure fun, but with hardcore not the pop electro that we see nowadays, and not psy, since psy is another feeling normamly at least for me

Look at the effort that goes into the manic bounce music mixing? I think bounce music now doesn't have the same 'manic magic.' Bounce is far to mild now. The 90's had it, even the dancing was pure energy, true dancing, throw your whole body into it, enthusiastic movement now it's more about busting shapes! We move forward with Technology in 2020's but we have lost some thing 'electric, some thing manicly precious' from the 90's so in music we have gone back wards. Re-release these 'manic' beats, just as they are, get us ripping up the dance floor again 'at home, at the discos, at work parties! Come on!' YERRRRRRRRR!!!

Originally the title was supposed to look like thie "The Ultimate Oldschool (Happy) Hardcore Gabber Mix" But I forgot to add the happy and now two and half years later I find it a bit silly changing the name. The closest to a Gabber/Hardcore set I've seen was Virtual Self in Miami, although he's not necessarily a hardcore DJ, he plays a lot of Euro influenced Hard Dance in his sets and it was magical. So much energy, my arms were dead the next day from all the punching and flailing. I hope this genre becomes popular here int he states! Hardstyle is fun too but in my opinion, nowhere near as fun as hardcore :)

Simon Apex was a Yank hardcore producer in the 90s. A.C. Slater in the 00s. Look up his releases on UK labels that were collectively known as the Nu Energy Collective (there were several labels associated with that umbrella organisation which is now no longer in operation 😢)
