At the risk of sounding like a lame ass, I hope all the young people who see this note how young so many of these artists were. It’s a complete miracle I didn’t die in my 20s- early 30s, due to drinking and driving and using a lot of drugs and always seeking a thrill. Please take care of yourselves.

It is astonishing that so many stars, especially those from the 1950s, died in plane crashes. It is always said that flying is one of the safest ways to travel. But most of them were probably flying in small private planes and not on commercial airliners.

Bon Scott, i was 15 , the band was so powerfull, and they were going to become huge, all around the world, always today. I can't imagine he died , he would have been 83 years old.

Gary Thain (27) & David Byron (38) of the great Uriah Heep also died way too young. So sad. Tom Evans (36) also of Badfinger died too young. They also lost 2 members at a young age.

A less well-known rocker who died very young (age 26) was Petri Walli of the Finnish trio Kingston Wall. Not long after his band released its 3rd album, he threw himself off a church balcony in Helsinki.

I was a bit disappointed not to have seen Phil Ochs mentioned upon this list. He has been one of my favorites and inspirations since I was first introduced to him as a teenager in the 90's. His talent and what he had left undone is truly missed. It is also worth mentioning the early losses of both Brian Cole from the Association and Malcolm Hale from Spanky and Our Gang. Both men's premature deaths shook their respective bands deeply, Brian's by being the band's Mcee in performance, a dear friend and a rudder of direction, and Malcolm's by being their chief arranger and songwriter who died by avoidable accident. His death effectively ended that band.

The Swedish pop/rock icon Ted Gärdestad also died young of suicide. He was 41 y.o. when he died, hit by a train. Don't forget the EDM producer and songwriter Tim "Avicii" Bergling who died by suicide too. And last but not least the rapper Nils "Einár" who was murdered because gang activities.

the Randy Rhoads fiasco may be the worst of em all. To die in a plane that was going absoluely nowhere. On a tour that was going by bus no less. Just flat out stupid.

A young death is tragic, no matter what the circumstances. However, it's important to realize that a lot of young deaths are self-inflicted. We all think we're invincible when we're young (god knows, I certainly did with my own substance abuse issues), but reality hopefully sets in and we learn the lesson.

Bon Scott eventually would have been the death of ACDC , the drinking and drugs can't last forever. Brian was the best thing to happen to ACDC , the band really evolved into the success they are today with him.

Bob Scott never died from alcohol poisoning. He died from exposure. He dropped a friend off and climbed in the backseat and fell asleep, and froze to death. This is a FACT!!!!
