To get all the vsts that actually produce great quality sound you’re going to pay over $4k, plus the gear and computer needed to run those vsts are gonna cost you. So the comparison of piano vsts to workstations are just ludicrous

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Good food for thought. VSTs and Computers have a wide band of possibilities so this would be a good second debate looking deeper into cost and options. Conversation Starter: RMX (Drums): 379, Trilian: $279, Keyscape: $379 Pianoteq Standard (Pianos & EP): $269, Laptop: $500 - $1,000, again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and perspective very respectfully. This forum will enable everyone arrive at their own unique conclusion that works for them! 🙏

I have the original Genos and have thought about getting Genos 2 . I have also have the Korg PA5X which in my opinion is outstanding for sound and styles. I am starting to hear a lot of problems occurring with Genos 2 and the price is simply over the top for me so until things are resolved i am really happy with my Genos and PA5X .

My friend you are entitled to your opinion and it looks like your are a YAMMIE player more then a KORG fan, anyhow you can't judge the PA5X by just putting headphones on or hearing through monitor speakers but you have to hear it live on a PA system and that's were it shines, and let someone else play it while you are in the middle of room, also have you seen the user manual? the manual is so big and the PA5X is so flexible that there is nothing out there today that can even come close to the features, this keyboard is mostly for live not studio and by the way I had almost every KORG, Yamaha, Kurzweil, Roland EMU etc keyboard and modules out there and technology only does get better with time.

Thanks for your insights, @Vangelismusic1! I appreciate your suggestions regarding the PA5X. I've been immersed in KORG keyboards since 1988, starting with the M1, and have spent countless hours performing and recording with their models that support sequencing. While I have a deep affinity for KORG, I remain open-minded towards all keyboard brands. Currently, about half of my numerous videos feature the KORG Triton, which holds a special place in my heart. Regarding the PA5X, I have mixed feelings about the KORG sounds on this particular model, although I hold the company and their other keyboards in high regard. This isn't my final assessment, however; I plan to delve deeper into the PA5X in future episodes. I'll spend more time playing rather than talking, focusing on each core sound individually and incorporating your recommendations. Cheers!

I've been a Yamaha user since I was a child. I'm a PSR SX900 owner and I was expecting so much for the Genos 2 release and I'm really disappointed. I totally agree that Genos sounds great, the best option compared to Pa5X. But compared with my SX900, Genos 2 has the same operational system, and for me it's great! Very intuitive and easy to use. But why am I disappointed? The lack of new features, configurations on Genos 2 is the main reason. Pa5x is the winner talking about features, functions and possibilities. Why did not Yamaha develop the smooth transition between the sounds? Why do we not have a good equalizer for each channel in the styles or voices? On Genos 2 I still can not create a user drum kit mixing parts from different drum kits. I think that Genos 2 is the more expensive keyboard from Yamaha, but the build quality is the same of my SX900. And talking about the sounds, where is new voices for Accordion family? OMG, we have basically the same accordions on Genos 2 after 7 years! In my humble opinion, the features and improvements which I've mentioned here, are so much better and important compared to a "new reverb", "dynamic control" and "ambient drums live control". Cheers, from Brazil!

HI! I have recently acquired GEN2 and the PA5x. Had the GEN1 for several years. I play smoother with the GENs less fatiquing keybed and its polished instrumental voices, but enjoy the PA5x rhythms and gritty EPs more so. MY MAIN CONCERN is live performance outcomes. What is the audience smitten by? IS it even a reasonable question? If not answerable, then ... what board are players smitten by while during their own live work in terms of the "overall keyboard's soundscape?" My quess is ... the performer is one answer ... on either board.

Based on a ton of demo's I've listened to and personal experience, the only department Genos 2 excels in is the solo spanish/nylon style guitar's realism, where you feel somebody's playing a real guitar, compared to Korg PA5X's guitar, which is so unrealistic it feels like listening to a "harp"... But Genos's dominance ends there, IMHO.

Great video as always. I wonder what it's like to own a korg triton extreme. I once heard the organ sounds and i was blown away by the timbres.

Have you tried out the Pa5X? It works for some folks as you can see here. What I appreciate about KORG was the addition of an 88-key version. Yamaha missed the boat on that one! Missed advantage! I would choose my DGX 670 over the GENOS 2 for that simple reason. I am a piano guy at heart. For that price-point and no weighted keys, I cannot justify the GENOS 2 for me (personally). I am more of a piano/ workstation / experimental keyboard guy but for my limited arranger needs, I am satisfied with the humble Yamaha DGX 670 and GO:KEYS. I have used them both for recording and add live instruments from my bandmates as needed.

Thinking about getting a korg kross 2. great value. $5.000 arrangers are for entertainers who can afford to show off their hardware and show up to a gig to impress the people paying you. i think its similar with video production. when you show up with a compact but more than capable camera and set up for the job clients will assume they arent getting their moneys worth compared to when you show up with a full but unecessarily big rig for a video shoot. at the end of the day no one cares about the nuance in piano fidelity at 1am when everyone is dead drunk😂

Genos demos, show me one, at least one that does not have solos with gyitar, organs and that disturbing plastic saxophone from PSR 1996 . Really ? They call that a sax ? There are no great lead synths for solos in Genos. Show me 1 demo. I bet they have the Duduk, and 2 other nice leads for cinematic songs.

As you said, but..... Korg pa5x can achieve the richness of genos 2, but genos can't achieve the quality build of the pa5x. Although the software in both is not at its highest performance level if you know what I mean. There are more to add, but Korg win the competition for me for its in deep settings for the sounds and styles and pads and 8gb compressed ram also the more than 30 000 samples capacity.

Obrigado. Cumprimentos. Good afternoon Phill, from Portugal. Thank you for your videos, and for your opinions, which I generally agree with. I'm actually looking to buy a new keyboard to replace my Ketron SD9. I'm curious to hear your opinion about Ketron Event, about my favorite brand (Roland), I won't say it because it doesn't have a top of the range product. Thanks. Compliments.

It is an honest view. My perspectives are evolving towards Pa5X and I love KORG. A different opinion is not necessarily biased. That's not a fair judgment as we all should not have 100% identical views. Diversity in views is ok. I was equally opinionated towards both firms. No favorites.
