I’m demoing both sticks and agree with your review. The Percep97 wasn’t playable for me even after I bumped it up to 325 SW by placing lead at 3/9. Then I moved some lead to 12 o’clock to increase SW to 328 then it was powerful enough to hit deep, flat and fast shots however I find it requires fast racquet head speed and I have to strike the ball early in front of body and this wears me out quickly. IMO it’s for players who r really fit and can always swing out fast all the times cuz as soon as my swing speed slows down the magic stops. The Blade is easier as you said but my wrist wasn’t liking it somehow. The spec is 333g, 32.5cm and 333SW. It’s a bit over spec with the 16g poly. I’d definitely still consider buying it.

I have tried a lot of rackets out there, but Yonex Vcore Pro 97L has been my go to racket always. The way it is easy on my arm and the way racket makes me go for acute angles has made me fall in love with Yonex Vcore Pro. Michal is right about the Japanese technology being quite sophesticated. However, if i have to name one racket that i tried that although did not have that buttery feel (noone does like Yonex Vcore Pro) but made me play better than Vcore was the blade. I had tried the Blade 98 V8 and although the specs may be similar for both, but the blade has a great energy transfer which you feel in your hands as well. All in all, totally agree with Michal here. Thanks for making honest tennis videos. Waiting eagerly for Blade V9 to be available in my country.

great video. I have an old Yonex VCP 97 2018 (navy blue), custom with leather grip and lead 3/9. Thinking now to upgrade either to Percept 97 or Blade 98 V9. Love the experience, feedback I get from VCP, tempted to go for something "easier" as Blade v9 (even though I would imagine the Percept 97 to still be easier than the VCP 97). am I wrong?

Hi, the Percept series is quite a lot easier compared to the VCP. Read and watch my reviews to find out more: tennisguy.eu/yonex-percept-100-97-tennis-rackets-review/ . The Percept feels less punchy, it has better feel and touch now. And one thing that I didn't like about the Percept is that they spin too much in my opinion comapred to the VCP flatter and faster shot profile. So playing aggresive with Percept is not that easy as with the VCP. The Percept now feel like a more all round oriented racket. It's actually closer to the Blade V9 feel, although Blade gives you more free power. So yes, Percept 97 is definitely easier to play with compared to the VCP 97 2018.

Nice comparison. Would be great is you could compare the 100´s for the more older players ;-)
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
Thank you. It's kind of similar but just with a bigger headsize. The Percept 100 generates more free power than the 97, but still the Blade 100 V9 generates even more free power and more spin. You get better control with the Percept 100 though.

The Percept 97L has a high stiffness rating of RA 66 and so does the Blade 100L V9 at RA 69. That means both rackets provide adequate energy on returning or redirecting the ball (ideal for counterpunchers), the dwell time is lower and the rackets are reasonably powerful. They have a similar sub-300 grams static weight as well. Why not compare the two rackets and determine which one is a better racket for the rising intermediate level tennis player?
@kkam7044
@kkam7044 5 месяцев назад
I have both of these and like them both, maybe the blade v9 a very little bit more. Interesting that the stiffness is higher on the respective light versions
@Shankar-Bhaskar
@Shankar-Bhaskar 5 месяцев назад
 Stiffness is higher because of the lower static weight, it helos with stability and power.
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 5 месяцев назад
The lighter racket have higher stiffness for more free power. The heavier rackets have lower stiffness for better control and pocketing. In my opinion, the best stiffness is around 64-68 RA. I don't like too flexible rackets, that make your hand feel tired after while.
@Shankar-Bhaskar
@Shankar-Bhaskar 5 месяцев назад
@@CzechTennisGuy I agree, why not compare the Blade 100L V9 and the Percept 97L? They are pretty similarly specd out with similar stiffness ratings and similar weight class.
@OldSchoolTennis
@OldSchoolTennis 4 месяца назад
This is actually what I did - get the Blade 98L (v8) and Percept 97L and then customize them to a 320-325 swingweight with a static weight of around 320g and a strung balance of 334. You have to customize these L racquets to use them properly on the intermediate and advanced level in my opinion, otherwise they are just too light and unstable. But if you customize them, I think the L models with that higher stiffness / higher free power but still(!) very good comfort are hidden gems we do not talk about enough.

hi tennis guy what is your opinion on the blade 100 v9 compare to gravity and speed mp
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
I think it's a more versatile racket - you get everything in one package - precision, control, power, spin, stability and feel. The best Blade in years in my opinion. And I'm not the only one who says that.

For yonex percept 97 what do you think, I have a yonex poly pro 1:15mm string and would like to test it out. I am thinking of installing it temporarily, but Yonex does not write this string in the recommendation of this racket on the website
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
Just give it a go. I think it can help with the free power, but of course you will lose lot uf durability and the tension maintance. I never played with a 1.15 mm string, but I know that playing with 1.20 mm can change how the racket playes pretty dramatically. You also gain more feel, which is a nice bonus.

New V9 line is the best blade line since V5. Wilson finally gave us a blade. With percept I don’t know how yonex while thickened the mold the forgiveness at least to me feels smaller…..blade has more than enough power for an all around attacking play style. Percept lacks free power.
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 5 месяцев назад
For me the Percept 97 is almost perfect. But it lacks the free power of the Blade V9. I think if the stiffness of the Percept was 62-64 it would change the racket for the better. The Percept 97 is great for juniors. For big men, it needs a customization or you have to buy the Percept 97D or 97H.

That sounds awesome! I can't wait for your thoughts/review/comparison between the new blade and the strike 98 (16/19). Currently play with the 2021 Pure Aero Rafa .... need some more controle but dont want to lose the power and spin.... holy grail search 😅 thanks for you content. Greetings from South Africa

I suggest any European citizen and specially clay court players to try blade 18x16 98s and end their racquetholism ❤
@LarzB
@LarzB 5 месяцев назад
done that, hate it. The spin effect racket is erratic with the string bed. The 18x20 or even the 16x19 is better if you like the blade. I have had the v8 18x20 which was very good, but I prefer the percept 97
@TheodorosKolokotronis799
@TheodorosKolokotronis799 5 месяцев назад
@@LarzB v7 and v8 98s are C R A P. You must go back to V6 and before for a good 98s. Also string it with specific strings like 4G, ice code, razor code, head hawk, lynx tour, element, alu power. Those ultra shaped solinco strings don’t do justice. V9 98s is back to greatness.

Tennis guy, do you think the blade v9 is a necessary upgrade from the v8?
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
It's not necessary unless you have the money to buy the new one and you want a more complete racket. I would say it's a great update for people who played with the older generations - version 6/7. The V8 is good. The V9 is better, but if the V8 works for you, you don't have to upgrade. Save the money for new shoes instead.
