Rachel Keaton that's great to know. I'd never seen a window guest hospital bed until I started watching them last year. I've only ever seen either the sofa bed couch or the chair that turns into a "bed", if you could even call it that.❤️

I am the exact same way when it comes to hospital visitors! For me, it makes me feel weird that the only reason they wanna visit is for the mere fact that you're in a hospital. Like, I don't sit at home and get all my friends to come visit or see me. idk- its just a really strange concept to me.
@rain-wanders
@rain-wanders 6 лет назад
Agreed 100%. I mean, every once in awhile a good friend will come to my house and we'll watch movies or something and just hang out, but I don't want to do that while in the hospital. Let's plan a hangout movie session for when I'm back home instead!

I’m totally the same way with FaceTiming my friends and how that is my main way of visiting with friends since a lot of my friends live in different parts of the country and I’m mostly bedbound it’s really my only form of social interaction lol but I’m glad you guys had a quieter day today than yesterday. My pain management appointment didn’t go well so I’ll be seeing a different doctor in 2 weeks and hopefully he’s more open to my ideas and have some new ideas of his own. I’m anxious but I’m choosing to just keeping breathing, do what I think I can’t do, and just pray about it and give it to God. So any extra thoughts or prayers are always greatly appreciated 💖 I love you guys and I love my Frey life family 💖✨😘💕✨

Hey there gorgeous people and little Ollie onion! (Hope that made you smile 😉) I guess the fact you are ok without visitors is made easier by you having your two boys with you for the most part. The Frey Life - I totally agree with the visitors at the hospital. When I’m in the hospital I’m already tired due to physically dealing with my health then having visitors makes me feel mentally exhausted because I have to “entertain” my visitors. Last time I was in I told everyone to not bother and amazingly they stayed away. My husband knows how I feel about all this. He has to work 8-5 every day, so he comes after work and has dinner with me then heads home. I’m absolutely happy with that.

Currently in the hospital on day 4 recovering from my second lung surgery. Got some not so good news today. My lung drained more than the y would like overnight so I have to keep my chest tube in still. I just wanna go home. I don't know how you deal with being in their all that time. I would've gone mad. Hope you get better soon!

Jaden.. I know it’s hard, but I suggest trying to think of being in The hospital as a vacation of sorts.. no work(or school, which ever one applies, lol) and people bringing your dinner, people cleaning your room, etc :-). Little advice.. not sure if you have dealt with chest tubes before, but when they take them out, insist on some type of loopy med..trust me!

Why is the chest PT at the hospital, ie: beating on your chest rhythmically, better then the vibrations of the vests you do at home? I would imagine that the vests would shake things loose easier then the chest pt.

I totally get what you mean with the visitors. You're right that it's your job in the hospital to concentrate that work, and it is. You work as hard or harder than the nurses and doctors on your body and you're body is going through stress. When you have visitors, you hope to chat and have time with them but that's often interrupted in hospital.

Dawn Keith Avon what is EDS? Just wondering if u don't wanna say, that's fine, thanks.
@dawnkeith4444
@dawnkeith4444 6 лет назад
Christian Gadomski EDS is Ehlers-Danlos syndrome Long story short the connective tissue in my body is not like everybody else's. So basically your ligaments and tendons are rubber bands and mine is used chewing gum. There are many different types of EDS and not all of them have the same issues but one of the more common issues that spans across all of them is that we have very hypermobile joints.
@formetoliveischristtodieis7585
Dawn Keith Avon do u have trouble walking or daily life stuff? I was born in 1992 with hiv that I got from my mom. With it I've had a lot of struggles myself and dark times. God has never left my side though even when I want to take my life and say screw it I couldn't because I knew God was there watching seeing what I was going to do what my next move was going to be. so I'm here now writing this to you. well not exactly writing more like voice text cuz I'm speaking these words into this comment. Hy Peter and Mary, I'm watching your Videos since Scotland. I'm from Germany, it is possible to explain the routine in the hospital, how to you get meals, how often the nurses come, what bracelets are you wearing etc.? Do you have free W-Lan in the hospital? If we have Internet in the hospital the costs are around 5-10§ a Day. Im very courios about the difference to Germany. Keep going, you are both such a fighter!!! Greatings from Northern Germany with my Service Dog Padfoot. You are so blessed to have ollie with you. In Germany Service dog aren't allowed at most docters office, maybe, with great luck in the ER waiting room. But never in a patient room

Hello Mary! My little sister just turned 2 and has had chronic bronchitis since a week or 2 after she was born and she’s really been struggling to breathe, especially with winter (makes her chest all rattled) and when we use her nebulizer (twice a day) and inhaler (every six hours) she screams, and screams....and screams. 1/20 times she will be fine. I literally have to pin her some nights to make sure she’s getting all the mist in. I have tried giving her candy after, putting on her favorite movie..idk, I thought after two years she would be used to it but she’s not and I’m running out of ideas on how to make it fun /: Any ideas?

Working in a hospital as a student, I don't like moving patient's to different rooms/wards during the night. Particularly when some elderly patients are moved between the hours of 12am-4am, and the staff wonder why they become confused! I'd be confused too, if I went to sleep in one room and woke up in another!

My mom always said if someone is in the hospital they are usually too sick for visitors. I always inquire if I think someone might want visitors. When I was in the hospital and then very briefly in rehab, I was really happy to have visitors. If I had stayed longer in rehab there was someone who was going to coordinate my visitors so they wouldn’t all come at once. The best visitor I had was my godson home from college for his birthday. He brought me a piece of birthday cake and a personalized word search puzzle. When he was just learning how to be in “big church” I’d make word search puzzles about the Bible readings for the day.

Finally, someone who explains not wanting visitors the way my brain thinks. I agree 100% with everything you said. It's amazing to have family and friends that want to visit and are super supportive, but the business mode is exactly how I feel when I go into the hospital. I prefer to see friends and family after the hard work is done and we can truly enjoy time together.

I am very similar. I am not a big visiter person when I am in hospital, unless it is my mum or someone who has lived with me. I just think my friends tend to worry more about me when they see me in hospital, because I may be ok, but being in the gown, or having an oxygen mask, or i.v. can be freaky to those who don't luckily have to see it annually. Even though they are just tools to help a person get better, or more stable. They can look intimidating to some. And I totally 100% get that. :)

Your family is so sweet. They’d jump on a plane or drive here in a heartbeat. It shows how amazing your family is.

I was out shopping with my 14 year old granddaughter, Heidi a few days ago and we had to cross a busy road. I am slow due to crippling arthritis so Heidi calls back to me, hurry up grandma you’re gonna get run over, which I quipped back, no I won’t there’s no reindeer around. Of course I then had to endure her singing the song repeatedly and it has been stuck in my head ever since. We had a good laugh and I hope you do too.

Cheering you guys on! I love the cheerful decorations in your new room. Gotta say that children's rooms are a lot more cheerful than adult's,. I remember all the moving hospital rooms we did. We used to play a game where we'd guess which room we'd be in.

I started to tear up a bit when you were talking about your parents and friends and everyone being so supportive and wanting to come visit. When I was in the hospital the before last, and the days/appointments leading up to it, I was on my own. I friend came with me to my initial consultation with the oncologist and insisted on driving me to the hospital the morning of my surgery, but she fell out of touch and I was left trying to find a ride at the last minute. My brother would come and visit for a couple of hours in the evening but the rest of the time I was on my own. My parents lived 90 miles away and left after my surgery and they never called or visited after that until I was back home. They wanted me to come stay with them for a couple of weeks while I recovered, but it wasn't possible. All of my follow-up appointments I had to go to on my own, too, and nobody asked how I was doing or if there was anything they could do for me. This last hospital stay, my mom and brother came to stay with me for a couple of hours each evening, but again, the rest of the time I was on my own. I am glad you have so many people who support you and love you, but it makes me sad that I didn't have that same support.

I love children's hospitals well one because I am 16 and I still go to a children's hospital but when I was three years old I was diagnosed with leukemia and my oncologist is at the Children's Hospital here any sooner see which is East Tennessee Children's Hospital and it is like one of the best hospitals ever well children's hospitals are in there are some great aunt adult hospitals but all thanks to God and my team of doctors there of been in remission for 12 years and I've been cancer free for 12 or 13 years so I've been in remission for 12 or 13 years and I've been cancer free for 12 or 13 years it's all thanks to God and my team of doctors and my family and friends.

Peter, when it's just you and Ollie, do you bring him into pubic spaces like the donut shop today?

I'm the same with family visiting me in hospital. It isn't the most social place and I never want to inconvenience them, as most of my family don't drive. Also, when I'm not feeling great I am sure I am not the best company. I usually just plug in my earphones and listen to music or watch documentaries.

I agree with less is more for hospital visitors. Being there is a job and a half and you are tired and challenged in so many ways. It's not the time to have a social gathering. Love that you had to move at midnight. Lol. Talk about sleep disruption. Hang in and good luck on your Med challenges.

i been on that unit lots of time Mary its for patients who are to critical for normal nursing staff but not so critical that they need to be in the ICU they do for people who have allergies, diabetes that need a IV med that can raise or lower there blood sugar, etc. there's LOTS of reasons but don't worry marry you're safe :)

I'm the same way when I'm an inpatient in the hospital. I do it mainly because I'm sick and need rest but too since I have no spleen I have no immune system. If I'm already sick and get re exposed to some other new bacteria or germ, it would make me even sicker! So FaceTime it is for me!!!

We have heard that the place between ICU and regular rooms "step down". I was there after my transplant before going down to the regular floor.
