Hope you guys enjoy this Mini review massive thanks to Jonny for bringing her down. Next up, 750hp R32 GTR 👍 Hope you all have a good weekend, any questions let me know. Peace ML
R53 Cooper S weighs 1150kg not 950kg. mental little car though, I bought one a couple of weeks ago and love it, must be utterly insane with that power 👍🏻.
4:54 John scared Jon doing a "John" in Jon's car... 😂🙄 He's looking for anything to grab! Epic shiz as usual! Looks like a fun little car, they're a riot even with the stock blower and some decent mods.
@@jonnycrowley4544 hey mate, met u at 1320mini couple months ago, was there Monday and they said your sprintex sc was with them, let me know if you want to sell it mate, I was at 1320 when u were getting your coilovers done, gimme a shout, really interested
@@jonnycrowley4544 I'm a locksmith too with an r53 mini here in California. Do you know what mods he has? I want a full list so I can upgrade my mini to 400 hp as well.
Have to say this is my favourite car I’ve seen on this channel. Superb work done throughout this little rocket. My Dad has an early Cooper S like this. Wonder if he’d like a few mods????!!!
I respect the work that's been done and very impressed with the performance, .... BUT .... Hate to burst your bubble but you can't beat the sound of a Supercharger!! Supercharger sound is the best sound ever!! (my opinion) .... Thanks for sharing, well done on all your mods, great car!
My friend has the last version wich he tuned to 340hp drives 80 km everyday for more than 1 year , he was worried about the clutch too so it was check by his local bwm dealer and they showed him pictures his clutch is almost brand new lol
Have a go on a modern bike that has the same or more power than a Cosworth. I only own a boring litre Honda motorcycle, but it keeps up with traffic and actually is starting to feel a bit slow, as I am getting used to it. I used a drag race app, and my 30 to 90 was 3 seconds. Have a go on the latest Fireblade if you want to test your nerve. 104 mph in first gear, 140 in second. It has six gears.
Seeing all these cars on this channel makes me miss my 300bhp Zafira GSI, ive still got it just had a massive crash going to take alot of money and time to get it back on the road
verry nice pocket rocket. and gets well used! thx for sharing this project :D only thing i would change is the flakes in the paint :D but thats personal taste
Prefer to see some dirt on cars, good one for putting it to use rather than having it for show 👌 I hate the thought of a car being built and not enjoyed.
The way he said he hates how soft the steering is is newer cars. Man I felt that. That's exactly why I have a mini. Since the luxury commuter market has ever been a thing as LONG as I have been a live. I have and will continue to hate soft steering. I mean when I got my mini I couldn't instantly tell when it was being pushed past its limits cutting corners. It definitely talks to you when driving...but make no mistake. Tramlining as you all call it happens in the states. I'm in Seattle and damn...going down I-5 is a nightmare when it's raining...it feels like the car is...skating in the ruts. Oooochild.
I think a lot of it is because it's just tiny sections at a time, and a lot of the time it's at the same time as talking/engine sound so doesn't get picked up by the auto detection
A true 400 horsepower to the wheel mini Cooper when he made the Ferrari look like a fool. My mini Cooper does 406 to the front wheels and it's doing 10:38 in a 1/4
May I ask what's done to it.. I just got one and I need more power. I have a 1k whp charger but love this mini more lol. I would love to pass ppl off by leaving them in the dust .. sleeper!
@@rogertorres6752 there's a lot of things you can do to them and just depends how much money you want to spend time first on the suspension then the brakes. I don't know what many you have or what year but remember something it's a vehicle that weighs 2700 pounds and if you liked it up a little bit and actually put more than 15% of wheel horsepower on the pavement of the total body weight per the NHRA calculator it becomes a 12-second vehicle mine for example has a completely motor rebuild with ported and Polished heads bigger valves bigger injectors bigger Turbo and I'm doing 28 lb of boost but also it's a 63 mm turbo saw my Turbo breeds a lot of air for example your charger is a very heavy vehicle if you were to lighten it up it actually gets a much quicker it's not always about horsepower it's also about torque I have also changed the stroke on my motor to a 1.8 it made a world of difference and yes the Corvette ZO6 get really scared when they get next to me when they hear the lobe of my camshaft and they say the 8ft Flames come out the back of the exhaust LOL
Such a great build... the owner looks genuinely displeased that someone else is driving it though. I don't blame him, I don't let others drive my cars, but I guess it's give and take if you want the coverage. 👍👍
I owned one of these with just over 220bhp with a reduced pulley, intake and intercooler and it was more fun that most of the turbo JDM cars I've owned....

There's full kits you can buy now Most people make their own manifolds or source their own parts for the kit. These turbo r53s engines have been near 700whp
Fair play john quality build mate. Mine was at 242 whp on the Eaton m45 maxed out couldn't make anymore power I had 166mph out of mine wish I still had it. This must be a complete animal at 400bhp I remember Paul's being built after big red Big up 1320 Tommy Scott Paul and the shed head crew.
Perfect little hatch for UK roads bet there’s not much that would catch it on the bends. I’d take some of those keys off though they’ll knacker the barrel with that much weight hanging off it
When he said the clutch go that was the hunt not to kick its balls in. Man looks mortified at the end. Clutch goes on mine it's in the bin couldnt afford to fix it :0
Yes, I bought a K&N cone for my Astra and a mechanic showed me how bad they are. They work great if you didnt have a bonnet but as soon as you shut the bonnet the filter is just sucking in the hot air off the engine. This was back in the 90s, nowadays I notice most put a box round the cone to stop the problem.
It can especially on a NA engine but when you have a turbo and you are tuning up usually the standard airbox (even with a better filter) is too restrictive at higher rpm + the air usually has to travel around right angles which again is not ideal. So you have no choice but to go open air filter.
Where did he buy those upper bonnet air scoops been looking everywhere and can't find them anywhere, please help a fellow r53er out in these desperate times 😂 seriously though I need those scoops?
